Someone Stole the Wheels From All the Teslas in This Parking Lot
As CEO Elon Musk ravages the federal government with chainsaws and fascist salutes, the wheels are coming off for Tesla — literally.
New local reporting by League City, Texas' KPRC-TV has uncovered an unusual heist in which thieves pilfered 44 tires from 11 unsold Teslas sitting in an Amazon warehouse parking lot over Valentine's day weekend. At least two tire lifts were attempted, though only one of them was successful.
The daring — and frankly kind of impressive — feat has stumped investigators, who say they have no leads, as the building's cameras weren't recording.
It's unknown why the Teslas were parked in an Amazon warehouse, a mere 15-minute drive from the nearest Tesla showroom, though a recent surge of vandalism and protests targeting the EV company might have something to do with it.
Though the thefts may or may not be politically motivated — automotive publication Jalopnik points out that the tires are worth about $350 a piece on the used market — they come at a time when anti-Tesla actions are heating up around the globe, resulting in arrests, investigations, and no small amount of pearl clutching from Musk's technocrat allies.
A few days ago in lower Manhattan, activists occupied a Tesla dealership — a nonviolent protest tactic dating back to the Civil Rights movement — as protestors of all ages demonstrated peacefully outside.

Photos by Leonardo Munoz show the moment police formed a human barricade between the Tesla store and the protestors — a powerful image as Musk's interests become indistinguishable from the state's.
And what good is a dramatic transfer of power without some good old fashioned browbeating to back it up?
"These terror*sts are HELLBENT on scaring Elon Musk into silence," negged Nick Sortor, a right-wing media pundit with nearly one million followers on X-formerly-Twitter. In this scenario, the power of Musk's unfathomable wealth — not to mention his social media empire — is conveniently washed away.
"DOGE has very high approval from the people as a whole, but the grifters super hate it," replied Musk, who apparently hadn't seen the latest numbers.
While the "terrorist" epithet is laughable, the rhetoric from a high-profile Musk acolyte is noteworthy. It comes as Trump's team lays the groundwork for a new "War on Terror," expanding the definition of "terrorism" to include everyone from pro-Palestine activists to undocumented immigrants.
And Musk's supporters are taking the bait. "Folks who do this are domestic terrorists," seethed Larkin's Lair, an "adult collector" of Transformers toys, under a video of a vandalized Tesla. The toy enthusiast included a screenshot of the definitions for "terrorism" and "violence," seemingly neither of which they bothered to read.
While opinions will differ on the ethics of property destruction and theft, the move to lump "vandalism" in with "violence," and "protest" with "terror" is no accident. In the not-too-distant past, these tactics have been used to repress all kinds of progressive action, from workers movements to student marches to antiwar protests.
As the global movement against Musk heats up, the onus should fall on those in power not to conflate terrorism with theft — even if their cars end up on cinderblocks.

The driver, Marco Hellgrewe, described as a German Armed Forces officer and "truck enthusiast" was picked to reverse the brand new all-electric Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 to set the records, and absolutely delivered. The day began at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben where Marco pushed the truck in reverse for a new record of 124.7 kilometers without stopping. Once that record had been achieved, Marco drove out onto the public streets, still in reverse, and drove over 30 kilometers from Oschersleben to the new Daimler Truck Global Parts Center in Halberstadt. The key to breaking a new record in reversing a tractor trailer is taking your time and having a police escort. The 30 kilometer drive in reverse took around two hours to complete, meaning the truck was travelling at just under 10 miles per hour for the entirety of the journey. Back in 2018 Audi and ABT Schaeffler built an electric RS3 that went 130 miles per hour in reverse, which was absolutely trounced by the Rimac Nevera in 2023 setting a reverse top speed of 171.34 miles per hour. The prior tractor trailer reverse distance record was set by an Irish farmer in 2017, running almost 21 kilometers backing up. Mercedes-Benz Trucks worked with the mayor of Halberstadt for this project with both parties seeking attention for road safety, electrification, and "truck driver image." Truck drivers are essential to the mechanics of everyday life, bringing the things we need to live from wherever they're made to wherever we are. The job is a tough one with long hours and challenging working conditions, and truckers are vital to any functional economy. The talent that it takes to drive a big rig in the tight confines of any European city must be commended, but to do the whole thing in reverse must be on a completely different level. Elon Musk's exit from President Donald Trump's White House has resulted in the two towering figures feuding online, with the richest man in the world's net worth taking a significant hit due to the back-and-forth. Finance pub Forbes reports that Musk's net worth fell below $400 billion this Thursday, dropping from $414.7 billion to $388 billion, a difference of around $26.7 billion. More specifically, Musk's Tesla stock declined 14%, or $47 per share, to $285 on what Forbes calls, 'an otherwise flat day for the market.' The drop in value came almost immediately after Musk and Pres. Trump began exchanging blows on social media Thursday (June 5), with Musk claiming that Trump would've never been elected for a second term if it were not for him (Musk spent nearly $300 million backing Trump and other Republicans in last year's election) while Trump accused Musk of having 'Trump Derangement Syndrome.' Musk also accused Trump of being listed on the Jefferey Epstein files, suggesting the current president has a direct connection to the late sex offender and financier. 'Time to drop the really big bomb,' Musk wrote on X, which he owns. '[Trump] is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public.' He later followed up, 'Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out.' The rift seemingly began after Musk exited his role as one of Trump's advisors and head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Soon after, Elon called out Trump and Republicans for passing the One Big Beautiful Bill, which Musk deemed a 'massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill' that is a 'disgusting abomination.' Trump fired back by suggesting he would terminate government contracts with Musk's businesses, which include rocket company SpaceX and its satellite unit Starlink. This threat is possibly what led to Musk's businesses dropping in value literally overnight. Dunwoody announces proposed increase to property taxes, millage rate to remain unchanged
In a pair of announcements, the City of Dunwoody announced they planned to increase their property tax rates but will not increase the millage rate. According to the city, the dueling notices are due to millage rates compared to rollback millage rates. For Dunwoody, the property taxes will be 3.61% over the rollback millage rate, even though the rate itself for 2025 will be unchanged. In terms of why the city released two different statements on the property tax, officials said it was 'to give context that the state one does not allow.' More specifically, Dunwoody officials said the rate was set based on a yearly assessment by the board of tax assessors, who review the value of property in DeKalb County for tax purposes. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] "When the trend of prices on properties that have recently sold in the county indicate there has been an increase in the fair market value of any specific property, the board of tax assessors is required by law to re-determine the value of such property and adjust the assessment," Dunwoody said in a statement. A rollback millage rate must be computed to produce the same total revenue on the year's tax digest, according to state law, but is calculated without factoring in the reassessments. For taxpayers, more specifically homeowners, Dunwoody officials are trying to keep the millage rate at 3.040 mills for 2025, as well as include a one-mill reduction for homestead properties, which would make those homeowners have a rate of 2.040. 'The city will continue to freeze assessed values for those same properties,' Dunwoody officials said. 'These combined exemptions mean that no homestead property will see a city tax bill increase this year.' However, the city did confirm there will be tax increases for commercial properties and non-homesteaded residential properties such as rental units, which have higher assessed values.
