Tension between India, China has eased significantly: Russian FM Lavrov
The tension between India and China has eased significantly and the stalled work of the RIC troika could be restarted, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Monday. Speaking at the Forum of the Future-2050 here, he said the resumption of joint work in RIC format could be the first step towards pan-Eurasian processes, including the formation of a multi-polar architecture. "I really hope that we will be able to restore the work of the Russia-India-China trio. We have not met at the level of foreign ministers for the last couple of years, but we are discussing this issue with my Chinese colleague and with the Indian head of the External Affairs department. I really hope that now that the tension has eased, in my opinion, has eased significantly on the border between India and China, and the situation is stabilising, there is a dialogue between New Delhi and Beijing, we will be able to resume the work of this Russia-India-China trio," Lavrov was reported as saying by Russia's state-run TASS news agency. Lavrov said that Russia and China can and should play a leading and proactive role in the pan-continental process, including in the formation of a multi-polar architecture, and added that the restoration of the RIC format could act as the first step towards this. This will also be a very important step forward in the movement of continental processes, Lavrov added. The two-day forum inspired by Russian philosopher Alexander Dugin, often dubbed as President Vladimir Putin's guru', has attracted young participants. Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk's father Erol Musk is also attending the forum. Last week, a Pakistani delegation met Lavrov in Moscow and handed over a letter from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for Russian President Vladimir Putin. Lavrov said that a direct dialogue between Pakistan and India is needed to build mutual trust between the two countries, TASS news agency reported, citing the Russian Foreign Ministry. On Friday, top diplomats from India and China discussed bilateral relations to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries last year, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said. The meeting between Indian Ambassador to China Pradeep Kumar Rawat and China's Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong on Thursday is the first diplomatic engagement between the two countries post the Operation Sindoor that India launched in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that left 26 people dead. Tensions between India and Pakistan, Beijing's all-weather ally, escalated after the Pahalgam terror attack, with India carrying out precision strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in the early hours of May 7. The four days of on-ground hostilities from both sides ended with an understanding of stopping the military actions following talks between the directors general of military operations of both sides on May 10.

No impact of rare earth magnet shortage on production yet: Maruti Chairman
China controls over 90 per cent of global processing capacity for the magnets, used across sectors including automobiles, home appliances and clean energy Press Trust of India New Delhi Maruti Suzuki India Chairman RC Bhargava on Monday said there is no impact on the company's production due to the shortage of rare earth magnets as of now. His comments come against the backdrop of restrictions imposed by the Chinese government since April 4 on the export of rare earth elements and related magnets. China has mandated special export licences for seven rare earth elements and related magnets. China controls over 90 per cent of global processing capacity for the magnets, used across sectors including automobiles, home appliances and clean energy. "There is no impact at the moment," Bhargava told PTI when asked if the auto major is facing any production issues due to the global shortage. The production activity at the country's largest carmaker is going on as planned, he added. When asked if the company sees a production crunch over the next few months due to the issue, he noted: "If the licenses come through and they are supposed to come through, there would not be a problem." The domestic automobile industry has sought government support in expediting approvals from the Chinese government for importing rare earth magnets used in various applications, including passenger cars. As per the industry sources, various domestic suppliers have already sought approval from the Chinese government through their local vendors in China. However, no approvals have been granted so far. Many companies are facing the heat due to the shortage of critical raw materials used across multiple sectors including the automobile industry. The critical materials include samarium, gadolinium, terbium, dysprosium and lutetium, which are essential in electric motors, braking systems, smartphones and missile technology. Khandu hails 11 years of transformative governance under PM Modi's leadership
'For 11 years, it has been a journey dedicated to serving the poor and marginalised, empowering the last person in the queue with dignity, opportunity, and hope,' the chief minister said in a series of posts on X. Reflecting on the Narendra Modi government's journey since 2014, Khandu described it as a saga of 'Seva, Samarpan, and Sankalp' (service, dedication, and resolve) to build a 'viksit Bharat' (developed India). Itanagar, Jun 9 (PTI) As the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre marks one year of its third consecutive term, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Monday lauded its commitment to inclusive development and national transformation over the last 11 years. He highlighted the government's focus on shifting the country from a welfare-driven model to one of self-reliance, where transformative policies have redefined the socio-economic landscape. The 11 years of service, he said, exemplifies a vision rooted in justice and empowerment for all sections of society. Underscoring the youth-centric policies of the Modi government, Khandu emphasised the efforts to nurture the 'Amrit Peedhi', the young generation of new India, through education, innovation, and entrepreneurship. 'From Start-Up India to Digital India, NEP to PM Vishwakarma, every step is shaping a confident, self-reliant generation ready to lead the future,' he noted, reaffirming that the government's long-term investments are aimed at preparing the youth to become the drivers of India's growth story. On the economic front, the chief minister praised the transformation of India into a hub of Ease of Doing Business, powered by resilient reforms and digital innovation. He pointed to simplified compliance systems, the implementation of GST, and startup-friendly policies as evidence of a bold, forward-thinking economic strategy. '#11YearsOfSeva has been about empowering enterprises, boosting investments, and unlocking India's economic potential,' he said in one of the posts. Khandu also acknowledged the support extended to India's middle class under the Modi administration. From lower income tax rates and interest subsidies for homebuyers to digital payments through UPI and improved urban mobility through smart cities and Vande Bharat trains, the chief minister said the reforms have touched everyday lives in meaningful ways. 'The honest taxpayer is finally being respected, supported, and heard,' he added. The chief minister's reflections came as the nation observed the first anniversary of NDA 3.0, with party leaders across the country highlighting the milestones achieved under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.
