Vancouver Rise, AFC Toronto play to 1-1 draw in Northern Super League
De Filippo tied the game nearly five minutes after the 90-minute mark with a header off a corner kick for Vancouver (2-1-1). It was Vancouver's only shot on target at York Lions Stadium.
Aoi Kizaki gave Toronto (1-2-1) the 1-0 lead with a beautiful strike from outside the box in the 85th minute.
Vancouver held 55 per cent of possession, but Toronto dominated the shot attempts 17-11, including 6-1 on-target.
Next up, Vancouver visits Ottawa Rapid FC on Thursday and Toronto travels to face Halifax Tides FC on Saturday.
Calgary Wild FC hosts Ottawa Rapid FC later Sunday.

Scherzer, Springer lead Blue Jays to 7-3 win over Pirates
Max Scherzer pitched six strong innings to notch his 220th career win, and George Springer hit an early two-run home run as the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 7-3 on Tuesday night. Blue Jays All-Star first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. sat out because of tightness in his left hamstring. An MRI performed earlier Tuesday revealed no damage. The Blue Jays are 25-13 in interleague games, tops in the major leagues. The Pirates loaded the bases with none out in the second inning against Scherzer but managed only one run on a groundout by Isiah Kiner-Falefa. The rubber game of the three-game series is set for Wednesday with Chris Bassitt (11-6, 4.22 ERA) pitching for the Blue Jays. Johan Oviedo (0-0, 18.00) is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis to start for the Pirates.

UFC CEO, Dana White, announced today that No. 5-ranked Reinier de Ridder will take on No. 6-seeded Anthony Hernandez in the main event of UFC Vancouver on Sat., Oct. 18, 2025, inside Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The announcement shakes up the 185-pound division as brand new champion, Khamzat Chimaev, had been eyeing a quick turnaround at UFC 321, which takes place just one week later in Abu Dhabi. For now, 'Borz' — who wiped the Octagon floor with now-former champion, Dricus du Plessis, at UFC 319 this past weekend (Aug. 16, 2025) in Chicago — will have to wait. Even though Chimaev specifically called out 'RDR' … and the surging Dutch finisher agreed. Nevertheless, de Ridder (21-2) has been red-hot since entering the Octagon, and UFC Vancouver will mark his fourth appearance of 2025. The Dutch standout is coming off a decision win over former Middleweight champion, Robert Whittaker. A key middleweight matchup is set to headline the UFC's trip to Vancouver. Reinier de Ridder will face Anthony Hernandez in what will be an opportunity to make a statement to earn a shot at the newly crowned champion, Khamzat Chimaev. UFC Fight Night 262 takes place at Rogers Arena on Oct. 18. The promotion officially announced the matchup Tuesday.
