Darwin Nunez sends direct message to Liverpool fans after transfer exit

Yahoo4 days ago
Darwin Núñez has officially said goodbye to Liverpool, leaving behind three memorable years at Anfield, a spell marked by highs, lows, and a Premier League triumph.
The Uruguayan striker, who paid tribute to former teammate Diogo Jota, broke the news via an emotional message to supporters after confirming his transfer to Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal, which faced a major setback after being barred from a major tournament.
In a direct message to the fans, he said, 'Thank you, Liverpool fans, for all the love and support you have given me. I will carry it in my heart and wish you all the success this year. Come on, Liverpool.'

In his farewell Instagram post, Núñez also reflected on the bond he shared with the club and its supporters: 'I leave with a full heart, thanks to the love of a crowd that never let me down and always had my back — through the highs and through the lows.'
'Liverpool will always be part of who I am. I'll miss you more than words can say. To all the staff and my teammates — thank you and all the very best for the future.'
Liverpool confirmed the move to Al-Hilal on Saturday, marking the end of Núñez's Anfield chapter. The club accepted a $61.9 million offer, a notable loss on what had originally been a significant investment.
Despite that, he departs with silverware, having helped Liverpool secure the Premier League title in 2024–25, along with victories in the FA Community Shield and Carabao Cup.
Among the tributes flooding in, teammate Mohamed Salah shared a heartfelt social media post, writing: 'I consider myself lucky to have had you as a teammate and friend. You were always very real and brought so much good energy wherever you went.'
Salah also cheekily posted a photo of himself giving Núñez the middle finger in a sauna on his Instagram Story.
Alexis Mac Allister, another key teammate, also bid farewell with an affectionate note: 'I'm really going to miss our talks, mates, roasts, and your craziness. I wish you all the best and much success in this new stage.'
Núñez's exit comes amid a significant summer squad overhaul under new manager Arne Slot. Liverpool, fresh from their title-winning season, is managing departures like Núñez's to reinvest; they've already made moves for players such as Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, and Jérémie Frimpong, while facing competition for targets like Alexander Isak.
Núñez scored 40 goals in 143 appearances for Liverpool but was also criticised for missing a number of clear scoring opportunities during his spell on Merseyside. He now joins Al-Hilal, ending his time at the club with silverware and experience at the top level.

Liverpool to submit new offer for star 'very keen' to join

Time is running out in the transfer window and Liverpool are still in the race to complete multiple deals. It's been a long summer, and the next two weeks are going to be even crazier than anything that has happened in the lead up to this. 🚨2025/26 LFC x adidas range🚨 LFC x adidas Shop the away range TODAY LFC x adidas Shop the home range today! LFC x adidas Shop the goalkeeper range today LFC x adidas Shop the new adidas range today! Liverpool are far from being done in the transfer market. Richard Hughes wanted to rebuild Arne Slot's side this summer and the final pieces in the jigsaw are still yet to be secured. The first of those jigsaw pieces is Alexander Isak. He's been Liverpool's dream target for a long time and next week we should find a resolution to the saga that has been going on for the longest time. Liverpool may add another winger to the equation as well. Although it remains to be seen whether with such little time left they can find the right target. But the other key piece of the puzzle is Marc Guehi. 🔴 Like Isak, the Crystal Palace captain has long been on Liverpool's radar. In fact, the Reds have wanted to sign him since the beginning of the summer. Guehi has one year left on his contract and it's clear that he doesn't want to extend. He wants to leave the club. Whether it's in the next two weeks or next summer, the end result will be the same. So, it's in Palace's interest to make sure that he goes this summer. At least this way they won't lose him for nothing but they can actually get compensated for making Guehi into the player he is today. Liverpool have been working on a deal to do exactly that. They haven't yet succeeded but it looks like they are going to make another push for the Crystal Palace star.

Update On Tottenham Hotspur In Their Pursuit Of This Crystal Palace Ace: Should Frank Snap Him Up?

In a recent post on X, journalist Ben Jacobs offered an update on Tottenham Hotspur and their pursuit of Crystal Palace ace Eberechi Eze. It has been stated that Spurs are willing to offer around £55m-£60m to acquire the services of the English talent this summer. Eze's Impressive Record In English Football Last Season Eze was a top performer for the Eagles in the previous campaign when he produced a string of productive performances for them in the Premier League. The English talent participated in 43 matches for the London outfit last season, netting 14 goals and grabbing 11 assists in all competitions. The 27-year-old managed to prove his worth in the final third by averaging 3.48 shots per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He kept 27% of his shots on target. Eze even distributed possession relatively well in the opponent's half, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 74.2% in the top tier of English football (stats via His current contract at Selhurst Park will expire in the summer of 2027, which could make it difficult for Tottenham to sign him on a cut-price deal in this transfer period. (Photo by) Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Thomas Frank Snap Eze Up? Eze can shoot the ball with venom from long range and has got the vision to cut open the opposition defence with a killer pass in the final third. He can make a few driving runs with the ball as well and can contribute by scoring his fair share of goals for his team. The English sensation is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also function as a left-sided wide player if told to do so. He has already proven his worth in the Premier League and won't take much time to adjust to life at Tottenham. Eze would inject more quality and depth into Spurs boss Enzo Maresca's attack. He has what it takes to secure a regular first-team football at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season and would serve as an ideal replacement for James Maddison, who suffered a serious injury in pre-season. At 27, Eze is about to enter his prime, which makes him a decent option for Tottenham to consider this summer. With all things considered, Frank would be wise to go all out to snap him up in this transfer period.
