New Jersey mom was mortified when toddler broke cafe's $1,600 table. She claims she ‘wasn't allowed to leave' until she handed over credit card
Kathy Denman was at the Hazelnut Cafe in Ocean County on Sunday when her three-year-old daughter, Allie, accidentally pushed over the expensive marble table, according to a NJ.com report.
Denman said in a viral TikTok video that after the incident she was made to speak to the store's owner on the phone, who "kept repeating: 'Our policy is, you break it, you pay for it.'"
The mom alleges she was kept at the restaurant for 20 minutes after the table was broken. According to NJ.com, it is 'not immediately clear' if Denman was asked to hand over her credit card details 'with or without prompting.'
The owners of the cafe sisters Kimberly and Jenna Campfield, told NJ Advance Media that Denham had not been charged or even asked to pay for the damages and that she had only been asked 'for her contact information for insurance purposes.'
The Campfields, told NJ Advance Media that they were "extremely grateful" that no one was hurt.
'Following the incident, we personally called the child's mother to express our concern, offer our support, and share our direct contact information should she need anything,' they said in their statement.
'We also want to be completely transparent: we would never hold anyone against their will,' they added. 'The mother was not charged for the damaged table, even after asking how she could make it right given the table broke. We requested her contact information for insurance purposes.'
NJ Advance Media obtained surveillance video from inside the restaurant. It appears to show the child hitting the table with her foot before it crashed to the ground and shattered.
'I was completely humiliated and embarrassed,' Denman said in a TikTok video that went viral shortly after the incident. 'I've cried since.'
Denman said in the immediate aftermath, her daughter was "frozen scared and nervous" and was made only more so by the reaction of the others in the restaurant.
Denman later said in a written statement on TikTok that the Campfields had contacted her to apologize "for how our family was treated." She said she and her family had accepted the apology and wanted to "move forward peacefully."
Her initial video was viewed more than 10 million times by the time her statement was added.
The table is reportedly sold by Anthropologie, costs approximately $1,598, and weighs approximately 109.25 pounds.
The Campfields told NJ Advance Media that they've removed similar tables from their restaurant and stores to avoid any future similar incidents.

NFL to review Isaiah Bond's sexual assault case after Texas cops declined to charge Browns hopeful
The NFL is reviewing the case of rookie free-agent wide receiver Isaiah Bond after Frisco, Texas police declined to proceed with sexual assault charges against him in April. NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy told on Friday that Bond's case is currently being reviewed. The league's personal conduct policy does not require criminal charges in order for a player to be punished, so the fact that Bond wasn't charged won't protect him from a possible suspension. Bond has not signed with a team yet, but previously announced his intention to join the Cleveland Browns. 'On the advice of my attorney, I will not discuss the details of this case, but I want to be clear: from the very beginning I have refuted these allegations and maintained my innocence. Details of the allegations remain unclear, but Bond has filed suit against his accuser, claiming their encounter was consensual and that the woman was seeking a financial settlement. According to the complaint obtained by Daily Mail, the accuser 'did make the indirect threat that, due to Bond's high-profile status, Bond "better be careful not to catch a case."' Bond's attorneys claimed he asked the woman to leave at that point, only for her to demand $5,000 or face the accusation that he 'assaulted her during their consensual sexual encounter.' Both sides have since agreed to a resolution and the case was dismissed with prejudice. Bond made a name for himself at Texas with his blinding speed and later ran the 40-yard dash at the NFL scouting combine in just 4.39 second. He was expected to be a Day 2 draft pick, with ESPN's Mel Kiper arguing he should go before the third round. But, following the sexual assault claims, Bond went undrafted in April. Now he has a chance to catch on in Cleveland, where the Browns are looking to complement star receiver Jerry Jeudy with a deep threat who can stretch opposing defenses downfield. Of course, head coach Kevin Stefanski is still working to determine which of his five quarterbacks will be under center in Week 1: Shedeur Sanders, Dillon Gabriel, Brett Hundley, Joe Flacco or Kelly Pickett.

THIS is the terrifying moment a painter is sent flying through the air in a horrifying crash after a car comes out of nowhere. The unidentified man is thought to have been working on a property in Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham, on August 13. 5 5 At the start of the footage he is seen wearing a blue t-shirt and black shorts and half way up a ladder working away. His white van is parked close by and his equipment is spread out on the pavement below him. A white car passes by as he climbs down and moves out of sight of the camera. The video then cuts to him standing in the middle of the road examining his work. The painter then moves off the road and towards his van as a grey car drives along the road. While he is standing next to his van a car, initially out of shot can be heard hurtling along the road. The sound of the motor's brakes screeching then rings out on the footage. A greyish-white car can then be seen slamming into the back of the van. The parked van is pushed into the painter with immense force sending the poor man flying. The car, having collided with the van, veers across the road and spins around before coming to a halt.
