Butler Twp. man gets probation for trying to get 15-year-old to meet for sex
Jun. 6—A Butler Twp. man accused of trying to solicit a young girl for sex who turned out to be undercover law enforcement was sentenced to probation.
John Dady, 54, was sentenced by Montgomery County Common Pleas Judge Mary Montgomery to up to five years of probation with intensive supervision with a sex offender specialist, according to the Montgomery County Prosecutor's Office. He was also ordered not to have any social media.
According to the prosecutor's office, a sheriff's deputy was posing as a 15-year-old girl on social media as part of the Miami Valley Human Trafficking Task Force's Operation End Ohio Human Trafficking.
On Oct. 9, 2024, Dady reportedly tried to get the fictional girl to meet for sex, and was arrested when he arrived, the prosecutor's office said.

Los Angeles immigration protests go through the night after surprise ICE operation
An immigration operation in Los Angeles involving agents with Immigration and Customs Enforcement led to dozens of arrests on Friday, which spurred large-scale and tense protests throughout the city. CBS News Los Angeles learned that ICE conducted raids in the Westlake District, downtown L.A. and South L.A. on Friday with no prior warning. According to an ICE spokesperson, as many as 44 arrests were made. "ICE officers and agents alongside partner law enforcement agencies, executed four federal search warrants at three locations in central Los Angeles," the spokesperson, Yasmeen Pitts O'Keefe, said. "Approximately 44 people were administratively arrested and one arrest for obstruction. The investigation remains ongoing, updates will follow as appropriate." O'Keefe confirmed that at least one of the warrants executed was related to the "harboring of people illegally in the country." Protests eventually centered around the Federal Building in downtown L.A. after word spread among demonstrators that detainees were allegedly being held in that building. More protests were expected to take place in L.A. throughout the weekend, although it wasn't clear where or when as of Saturday morning. KCAL News Among the dozens of detainments, Service Employees International Union-United Service Workers West President David Huerta was arrested while protesting Friday, he confirmed. "What happened to me is not about me; This is about something much bigger. This is about how we as a community stand together and resist the injustice that's happening. Hard-working people, and members of our family and our community, are being treated like criminals," Huerta said in a statement afterwards. "We all collectively have to object to this madness because this is not justice. This is injustice. And we all have to stand on the right side of justice." Scooter battery catches fire in Silver Spring apartment, firefighters say
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. () — A family was able to evacuate safely after a scooter caught fire in their Silver Spring apartment early Saturday morning. The Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) was dispatched to an apartment complex at 3814 Bel Pre Rd. at around 3:55 a.m. Crews found a scooter on fire in a third-floor apartment unit. Man shot, killed in Prince George's County parking garage, police say Luckily, the large family living there was able to leave without being hurt, MCFRS noted. A family member told firefighters they heard a 'pop' and went to investigate, finding a scooter's battery had started to catch fire.
