William goes on walking tour with firm supporting his homelessness project

The Prince of Wales went on a walking tour of Aberdeen with a homeless-friendly employer now working in the city.
William's Homewards project, which aims to eradicate homelessness in all its forms, is supporting Invisible Cities Aberdeen, a social enterprise offering walking city tours across the UK guided by people who have experienced homelessness.
The future king spent around 30 minutes on the streets of Aberdeen, affectionately known as the granite city, as he walked from a reception with young people starting on the employment ladder to an event celebrating the work of Invisible Cities.
William began his day in Scotland by launching a new partnership between his homelessness project and a major recruitment firm to provide employment opportunities for those without a permanent home.
Hays, a global recruitment firm, has become an official supporter of the prince's Homewards project, which is working in six locations across the UK.
Hays has committed to supporting Homewards by securing commitments for employment opportunities within the firm.
The prince, also known as the Duke of Rothesay in Scotland, joined a group of young people in a workshop discussing Project Flourish, a youth employability programme, created by Hays and EveryYouth – a national youth charity for those who are homeless or at risk of losing their home.
William sat at a table and discussed job prospects with young people, and after some told him they had been looking for work for up to two years, the prince replied: 'I think things are pretty demoralising having waited so long and keep getting rejected, that's going to get you down.'

Prince William's ‘Demanding' New Role: Inside His Vision to Transform Royal Family's Estate

Prince William's 'Demanding' New Role: Inside His Vision to Transform Royal Family's Estate originally appeared on Parade. has taken on a "demanding" new role. The Prince of Wales plans to transform the royal family's estate, and according to an insider, and he's doing it in a "great" and "ambitious" way. Following King Charles' accession to the throne in 2022, Prince William inherited the Duchy of Cornwall. This $1B estate spans more than 20 counties across England and Wales that financially supports the heir to the throne. William took over the Duchy when his father, King Charles, became king upon Queen Elizabeth's death. Prior, Charles was the longest serving Duke of Cornwall in history, having been in charge of the estate for 54 years. However, William plans on taking the role in a different route than his father. He wants to ensure that the Duchy is an extension of the philanthropic work that fuels his day-to-day public platform as the Prince of Wales. 'There is so much good we can do,' William says of the vast estate. He adds he wants to 'dig deeply' to get a 'true feel for what the Duchy is doing.' He added he is "trying to just go through with a fine-tooth comb'. The Telegraph reported the Duchy of Cornwall's secretary, Will Bax, admits Prince William is "pretty demanding" in a "great" and "ambitious" way. 'He's easy to follow because he's got great conviction and personality, and he really wears his heart on his sleeve in terms of social interest and his desire to have a positive impact in the world,' Bax added. Typically, the Royal Foundation, which is the main charity of the Prince and Princess of Wales, has worked in traditionally in urban areas. It focuses on homelessness, mental health and child development. However, William is hopeful that via the Duchy, these resources can extend it to the countryside and serve those in need as well. 'I see it as a branch of my philanthropy,' William says. 'There's so much good we can do in the rural world. I see it [the Duchy] as another arm to the work that I want to do, which is being a positive force for good.' He added, 'I think the Duchy have got way more levels and gears they can go through to be able to be a bigger force in the community.' The royal family website reveals the Duchy of Cornwall remains a private estate established by Edward III in 1337 to provide an income for the heir to the throne. It currently provides an annual revenue of around $28M U.S. dollars for William, his family, and their households. Additionally, the money helps fund the philanthropic efforts of the Prince of Wales. The royal voluntarily pays income tax on all income the estate generates. (AP Photo/Charlie Riedel) CHICAGO (AP) — The Cincinnati Reds placed outfielder Austin Hays on the 10-day injured list on Friday because of a left foot contusion. The Reds also activated outfielder Jake Fraley from the 10-day IL before their series opener against the Chicago Cubs. Right-hander Lyon Richardson was recalled from Triple-A Louisville. Advertisement Hays, who turns 30 on July 5, got hurt when he fouled a pitch off his foot in the sixth inning of Wednesday's 3-2 loss at Kansas City. He missed the start of the season with a left calf strain and also spent time on the IL with a left hamstring strain. Hays signed a $5 million, one-year contract with the Reds in January. He is batting .303 with six homers and 25 RBIs in 31 games this season. Fraley, 30, got the start in right field for the series opener against Chicago. He had been sidelined by left calf tenderness. Richardson is replacing Luis Mey, who was sent down on Thursday. The 25-year-old Richardson is 0-1 with a 1.32 ERA in 10 games with the Reds this season. ___ AP MLB:

Mic drop: Rio Ferdinand leaves TNT Sports for ‘new chapter'

In the preliminaries before kick-off between Aston Villa and Paris Saint-Germain at Parc des Princes last month, TNT Sports landed something of a coup. Having got celebrity Villa fan Prince William to agree to a pre-match interview, Rio Ferdinand and Ally McCoist were dispatched to ask His Royal Highness The Duke of Cornwall and Cambridge for his thoughts on how the game might unfold. While both former footballers have reached an age where they no longer have forelocks worthy of the name left to tug, Rio was so impressed with William's knowledge of gegenpressing, xG and heat maps that he issued a stark warning to the heir to the throne. 'Do not go into a punditry job because I could be out of the game,' he joked, as those armchair viewers the length and breadth of the country who are forced to pay top dollar for TNT subscriptions if they want to watch European football dared to dream. While there is no evidence to suggest that Prince William subsequently sent an equerry to hand one's curriculum vitae into the network's personnel department in the hope of earning a place in the gantry alongside Darren Fletcher and Lucy Ward on co-comms, today it was revealed that Rio is out of the punditry game anyway. The former Manchester United defender has quit TNT after a decade's service to focus on making YouTube videos in which he says 'geezer' a lot, hawking branded snapbacks and chilling with his family. His final outing with Woodsy, Resh, Fletch, Sav, Luce, Coisty, Jules, Crouchy and Owen Hargreaves will be at the Bigger Cup final between PSG and Inter at the Allianz Arena. It is to be hoped he marks the occasion by engineering another one of those ludicrous scenarios where he makes sure the cameras are rolling before studiously not stepping on a club-branded carpet in a preposterously performative show of respect. 'Since retiring from football, it has been a privilege talking about the game I love for a decade for sports fans watching BT Sport and TNT Sports,' he announced in a statement on his Social Media Disgraces. 'I want to acknowledge the tremendous support from the team behind the scenes, whose hard work often goes unseen but has been essential to our success. As I turn the page to the next chapter, I carry with me countless memories. I am excited about what the future holds, spending more time with my family, focusing on Rio Ferdinand Presents and my other business interests.' Whether it was stating the bland and blindingly obvious at great and tedious length, repeatedly parroting 'Ballon d'Or!' at the top of his voice in praise of a player who would go on to be overlooked for the award in question, or abandoning any small pretence at professionalism by reducing the commentary of a recent dramatic finale to the status of FanZone homage, Ferdinand has carved out a unique and lucrative niche in the punditry pantheon over the past decade. While TNT have yet to announce how they plan to fill the gaping void that will be left by the absence of his searing football insight and top-tier banter, subscribers can at least rest easy, safe in the knowledge that the inevitable montage of his 'best bits' shown at the end of Saturday night's Bigger Cup broadcast should be mercifully brief. [Mikel Arteta] had time to get a nine, he had time … Manchester United played five finals in the last five years. The United that everyone laughs at played five finals. In the last three years of building that building, you didn't reach a final, so I do understand when people ask the question. Surely you should compete for a trophy, being in the final?' – Thierry Henry doesn't hold back in outlining frustrations at Arsenal's failure to sign a goalscorer, reach a final or win a trophy this season. 'Entries on The Knowledge are always worth reading, but the clip showing Jeff Astle's tap-in against Leeds after an outrageous non-offside call was especially entertaining. The referee's howler was the main feature, of course, but three cameos really made it memorable: the old chap in the St John's ambulance uniform, chuckling away at Astle's celebration; Don Revie showing untameable outrage by the old-school method of pursing his lips and shaking his head; and the highlight, a fleeting shot of a man in a suit, who could only be Arthur Scargill, being hauled off the pitch protesting against the injustice of it all. Glory days indeed' – Charles Antaki. 'Re Tuesday's Football Daily, can I be amongst the first of 1,057 pedants to point out that Chelsea came fourth, not fifth' – Matthew Purchase (and 1,056 others).
