Pregnant wife of ex-NBA player Danilo Gallinari details horrific moment she was attacked by a shark

Daily Mail2 days ago
The pregnant wife of former NBA star Danilo Gallinari is speaking out after surviving a horrific shark attack in Puerto Rico.
'I have to say, I'm traumatized,' Eleonora Boi told ABC's 'Good Morning America.'
Boi, who was sixth months pregnant at the time, was swimming in waist-deep water with the couple's two young children when the attack took place.
'I felt a strong pain, and my thigh was burning, but my idea was, 'Maybe it's a huge jellyfish,'' she said. 'But in the reality, it wasn't a jellyfish.'
The pain quickly turned to panic.
'I started crying and screaming and I was screaming for help in Italian,' she continued.
Meanwhile, Gallinari witnessed the attack and came rushing in to save his wife, pulling her to safety on the beach before a woman helped put pressure on Boi's wound with a clean towel.
'She was an angel,' Boi said. 'Danilo was with me, and she helped so much. I would like to say thank you to this woman, because I don't know her name, and I just want to say thank you to her, because she helped a lot.'

Bryson Dechambeau takes bitter swipe at the PGA Tour after being banned from pre-Ryder Cup tournament

Bryson DeChambeau has taken a bitter swipe at the PGA Tour after being blocked from playing in a crucial Ryder Cup warm-up event. The LIV Golf star, who's all but guaranteed a spot on Keegan Bradley's Ryder Cup squad, expressed frustration Friday over the ongoing restrictions placed on players who defected to the Saudi-backed breakaway league. It comes as U.S. captain Bradley eyes the PGA Tour's Procore Championship, scheduled this autumn in Napa, California, as an ideal opportunity to get his team some live tournament reps. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler confirmed that he intends to play, with many of his likely teammates also expected to tee it up in support of Bradley's plan. DeChambeau, however, remains ineligible due to his PGA Tour suspension. 'That's up to the Tour and their decision to make,' DeChambeau told Sports Illustrated after carding a 4-under 67 in the opening round of LIV Golf Indianapolis. 'It's on them if they don't let us become together as a team and play.' The comments come amid tensions between the breakaway LIV contingent and the PGA Tour, which has suspended players like DeChambeau since defecting in 2022. Despite ongoing merger talks and broader calls for unity across the sport, the Tour has shown no sign of softening its stance - even with the Ryder Cup just weeks away. DeChambeau would require a sponsor's exemption to compete in the event, but according to a PGA Tour spokesperson, that won't matter. They told the outlet that the two-time US Open champion 'is not eligible for PGA Tour competition.' The Procore Championship, played in the five-week gap between the PGA Tour season and the LIV schedule ending, has been identified by Bradley as an ideal opportunity to get his players in sync ahead of the biennial clash with Europe. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler said Wednesday he plans to play, and several other likely Ryder Cup selections are expected to join him in Napa in a show of unity and preparation. That leaves DeChambeau, one of the in-form Americans this season and a confirmed part of Bradley's Ryder Cup plans, on the outside looking in. While DeChambeau has made no official request to play, Bradley's agent Brett Falkoff told SI that the 30-year-old 'plans to participate in every team gathering that he is permitted to attend.' But unless something changes fast, he could be the only American team member not competing in the Procore tune-up - a glaring omission in an otherwise united front. The PGA Tour's ongoing hardline stance on LIV players continues to ripple through professional golf - and now, potentially, through America's Ryder Cup campaign. Whether that costs Team USA on home soil remains to be seen. But for DeChambeau, the damage may already be done.

Browns name starting QB for second preseason game after Shedeur Sanders' breakout performance

Shedeur Sanders is unlikely to play in the Cleveland Browns ' second preseason game due to an oblique injury, as fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel will get the starting nod amid the team's wide-open quarterback race. 'Felt it early, I think, warming up and then felt it throughout individuals, so took a look at it,' head coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters this week ahead of Saturday's game with the defending-champion Eagles in Philadelphia. 'When it's a quarterback, you kind of need that muscle to throw. So unfortunately, going to put him down for a little bit here. We'll treat it day to day and see how he responds. But want to be smart because he's a thrower, so you can't push that thing.' Sanders sustained the injury during drills ahead of practice Wednesday. The Browns said Sanders is day to day. 'If you're a right guard, you can kind of play though that,' Stefanski said. 'When it's a quarterback, you kind of need that muscle to throw.' Stefanski said backup Joe Flacco won't play against the Eagles. Tyler 'Snoop' Huntley and Gabriel could get the bulk of playing time. Kenny Pickett is limited with a hamstring injury. Sanders completed 14 of 23 passes for 138 yards with two first-half touchdown passes to Kaden Davis in his NFL preseason debut in a win over Carolina on Friday night. The Browns took Sanders in the fifth round of the NFL draft. He wasn´t selected until the 144th overall pick, a stunning fall for one of the most recognizable players in the draft class. Sanders finished eighth in the Heisman Trophy balloting last season for Colorado and threw for a school-record 4,134 yards last season. 'Injuries stink for all these guys,' Stefanski said. 'They don't want to miss a rep for any reason. There's a way to continue to prepare to continue to get better even when you're not getting those reps because of injury.' Gabriel was selected 94th overall in the 2025 draft after putting up big numbers at three college stops: UCF, Oklahoma and Oregon. Still on the board 50 picks later, the Browns chose Sanders to end a well-publicized draft weekend crash from projections of a top-50 draft rating. 'I try to just stay in the moment. I'll look forward to that moment once it comes and be right where my feet are,' Gabriel said this week. 'The best competitors know how to stay present and be themselves by competing at a high level one play at a time.'

Patrick Mahomes reveals his honest reaction to Travis Kelce-Taylor Swift romance in 2023

has admitted he was skeptical when Travis Kelce first told him he was dating Taylor Swift - only believing it once he saw the couple together in person. Mahomes and Kelce have played side-by-side for the Chiefs since 2017, developing one of the most successful duos in NFL history - and a strong friendship off the field. Speaking in ESPN's 'The Kingdom', the star quarterback recalled the moment Kelce confided in him about the relationship, days before Swift's first appearance at Arrowhead in September 2023. 'He told me during the week,' Mahomes said in the series. 'It was one of those where I gotta see it until I believe it.' Despite his initial doubt, Mahomes said it became clear once he saw the couple together that there was a real connection. Swift's appearance at Arrowhead during the Chiefs' Week 3 game against the Chicago Bears confirmed the relationship and sparked a media frenzy. Mahomes added: 'You definitely felt the buzz and you could see people in the stadium gravitating towards where she was up there. At the same time, we had business to handle.' Since then, she's become a regular presence at Chiefs games, often spotted in suites alongside Brittany Mahomes, Patrick's wife. Swift and Brittany have developed their own close friendship, frequently seen cheering together on game days and attending off-field events in the season. The two were photographed celebrating victories, attending dinners, and enjoying nights out in New York alongside other high-profile friends. Meanwhile, this week, Swift aimed a not so subtle dig at male NFL fans when appearing on Kelce's podcast, New Heights. 'As we all know, you guys have a lot of male sports fans that listen to your podcast, and I think we all know that if there's one thing that male sports fans want to see in their spaces and on their screens, it's more of me,' she said tongue in cheek. Swift was awkwardly jeered in February when she rocked up to Caesars Superdome to cheer on Travis and the Kansas City Chiefs. The pop sensation was met with boos from large parts of the 66,000-strong crowd when she appeared on the jumbotron for the first time during the Super Bowl, which the Chiefs ultimately lost in humiliating fashion to the Philadelphia Eagles. With the stadium seemingly boasting more Eagles fans than members of Chiefs Kingdom, Swift did not get a nice reception when cameras zoomed in on her before the carnage unfolded. The 35-year-old singer appeared to notice the booing, giving a mocking side-eye response as the noise mercilessly rang out around the packed stadium.
