Legendary Sitcom Actress, 72, Reveals Alleged Actor Who Tipped off Tabloid About Daughter She Put up for Adoption
Love her or hate her, Roseanne Barr, 72, forever change television history with the sitcom after her own namesake. The sitcom that originally aired on ABC lasted for nine seasons by the time it was ended in 1997 and was brought back for a 10th season reboot in 2017. In 2018, the show was abruptly cancelled after the actress shared a racist tweet but was revived as The Conners later that year.
Since then Barr has appeared on several podcasts to give her unfiltered opinion on whatever subject is at hand. Most recently she appeared on Bunnie Xo's podcast Dumb Blonde, and talked about the story of giving up her first daughter for adoption when she was 17.Barr recounted that she intended for her daughter to find her one day, intentionally keeping her name as she rose to fame and knew what family she was placed in. She said that while her daughter didn't know Barr was her mother, she did know her birth mom was famous and in Hollywood (and for the longest time suspected it was Goldie Hawn, 79).
She then said she got a call from National Enquirer, telling her they were going to run the story of the daughter she gave up for adoption. When she asked how they found this out, the reporter allegedly kept it under wraps on who their source was, but she claimed to eventually figure out who told them.
"Who found her was the National Enquirer, because my boyfriend at the time, I found out way later, he went to the Enquirer and told him that I had a baby that I gave up."
When Bunnie asked if it was the father of the baby, Barr answered without hesitation:
"No, Tom Arnold. Yeah, he's making a living off telling stories about me, which I didn't know at the time."
Barr went on to talk about how that tabloid incident ended up reuniting the two, and they now have a healthy relationship. However fans were not letting the alleged Tom Arnold, 66, revelation slip.
"Tom Arnold was the biggest mistake she ever made," claimed one fan.
"Dropping a dime on Tom Arnold is hilarious," added another.
Barr and Arnold first met when she saw his act in 1983. The two's relationship was officially cemented in 1990 with their marriage, but divorce followed just four years later. Since then the two have publicly swiped at one another.
Ultimately though, Barr is grateful for the tabloid reuniting her with her daughter. After getting the call from the tabloid at 17 years old, a year before Barr had intended to find her, she flew out out to meet her along with her adoptive mother.
"...we met and it was wonderful," she explained to Bunnie. "So we've been back together since then, and she is now 53. She is awesome. She has a son and a lovely husband, and she's a wonderful woman."

Gerry Turner's journey to love continued after Theresa Nist. In fact, the 73-year-old secretly dated another 'Golden Bachelor' contestant following his divorce from the New Jersey native, 72, in 2024. 'I'm actually the one who suggested he go out with Christina,' she revealed. 'We're all on the same page. They went out for, like, six months,' Swarts chimed in, which surprised the finance whiz. According to Kempton's bio from the 'Golden Bachelor,' the then-73-year-old is a retired purchasing manager who lived in Sierra Madre, Calif. 10 'The Golden Bachelor' contestant Christina Kempton. 'I really am happy for him,' Nist, who's also dating, stated on an episode of 'The Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous Podcast' in June. 'And if he had to find his person by going this circuitous route, then he did, then it was successful. He found someone that really suits him, and that's wonderful. So I think it worked out the way it was supposed to work out.' While on the mic, Nist also addressed rumors that she and Turner split over his cancer diagnosis. 'It was a zero factor, zero. Absolutely. I was just so surprised that he even said that,' she detailed. 'I knew about the cancer a long time ago. And the way Gary presented it to me was that, 'The doctor said that I'm going to die of old age before this cancer gets to me.'' 10 Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist tie the knot. Disney 'He bluffed it off, like it really wasn't that important,' continued Nist. 'And he had no symptoms, and he still doesn't. So we never had a conversation that said, 'Oh my gosh, you're sick. I can't stay with you now. I have to leave.' That never happened.' In December 2024, Turner revealed he's been diagnosed with a blood cell cancer, Waldenström's macroglobulinemia, claiming it played into their split. He also admitted that he and Nist each wanted to live close to their families in different states. 10 Theresa Nist and Gerry Turner pose together. 'And I hope that people understand in retrospect now that that had a huge bearing on my decisions and I think probably Theresa's as well.' 'They interviewed him the day before they interviewed me,' Nist explained on the podcast. 'And right before my interview, they contacted me, and they said, 'Hey, we want to talk to you right now, because Gerry just came out and said that his illness was the reason you broke up.' And I go, 'What?' I said, 'No, it wasn't that.' There was zero conversation about that being in it.' Although at the time, she did believe that Turner thought he was telling the truth. 10 Theresa Nist sports a pink mini dress while out in the summer. theresa_nist/Instagram 10 Theresa Nist and Gery Turner pose in bed. goldengerryturner/Instagram 'If that was the reason, it was in his mind only, never discussed as a reason. He said it was a factor that weighed heavily into my decision. And I would imagine Theresa's, too,' Nist confessed. 'He just imagined. But it had nothing to do with it. Nothing. I would have never left my husband over in illness. I stayed with my husband, Billy.' She noted, 'I mean, for years he was sick, and he passed away at home. He was in hospice. I mean, it was really pretty bad. But I would never leave … That's just not me. That wouldn't happen.' In September, Nist made it clear she harbors no ill will toward Turner. 'So Gerry and I have spoken,' she exclusively told The Post. 'We don't speak regularly. I would say I wish him all the best, and I can see that he has so many friends, and I'm so happy for him that he does.'

In August 2024, Kardashian's all-white leotard ensemble drew similar comparisons, and in May 2025, fans thought Censori looked an awful lot like Kardashian in a sultry undergarment picture. Gap's Response to the Sydney Sweeney Drama is 'Iconic,' Fans Say: 'American Eagle Could Never'
Gap's Response to the Sydney Sweeney Drama is 'Iconic,' Fans Say: 'American Eagle Could Never' originally appeared on Parade. The world of denim is a battlefield of brand messaging, and two recent commercials have captured the internet's full attention for very different reasons. While a recent American Eagle ad featuring actress was tangled in controversy, Gap has just launched a commercial that is being celebrated as a vibrant, refreshing, and incredibly successful counter-narrative. Fans have been quick to point out the contrast, declaring that while one ad stumbled, the other danced, quite literally, its way into their hearts. The controversy began with American Eagle's campaign, which featured Sydney Sweeney with the tagline, 'Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans.' The wordplay was intended to be a compliment, but it quickly backfired. Online critics pounced on the double meaning of "jeans" and "genes," with many interpreting the ad as having "eugenic undertones." The criticism intensified as people pointed out the brand seemed to place blond hair and blue eyes as the gold standard of beauty, a step backward in an industry that has been making strides toward inclusivity. The backlash was so swift and intense that American Eagle issued a statement defending the campaign. Inside the Gap Ad That Has Fans Saying 'American Eagle Could Never!!' In a move that feels like impeccable timing, Gap released its own denim commercial, and it couldn't be more different. The 1:30 video features the rising K-pop group Katseye, a diverse and multi-talented group of women, all dancing with joyous abandon to Kelis's hit song "Milkshake." The online response has been overwhelmingly positive, with fans directly comparing the two campaigns. "Countering THAT controversy ad with a group of successful diverse girls in denim, GAP took that opportunity real fast," one fan wrote. Viewers claim the ad is a strategic and well-executed move. The use of Kelis's song, with its iconic lyric, "it's better than yours," has not gone unnoticed. Another fan praised Gap for its subtle jab at the competition, calling it a "snarky reference to American Eagle" that works "insanely well." One fan chimed in, "No weird rhetorics. Dancing comfortably with jeans on. Diversity. No words. American Eagle could never!!' A Tale of Two Ads: Why Gap's Approach is Winning the Denim War Beyond the strategic timing, viewers are captivated by the ad's high-quality execution. "This is honestly a superbowl level ad," one commenter declared, highlighting the commercial's polished production and infectious energy. The choreography, the charisma of the Katseye members, and the celebration of diversity are being lauded. "The way Katseye killed this commercial is not even a joke," a fan wrote. Related: "You took great diverse women with different aesthetics and used their showmanship to make an amazing choreographed commercial. Whoever's idea it was, deserves a raise." The ad highlights the versatility of Gap's denim, with the Katseye members effortlessly moving in everything from baggy pants to low-rise skirts. While American Eagle's campaign got attention through controversy, Gap's ad is winning hearts by celebrating authentic representation and delivering a commercial that, as one fan put it, 'no questionable copy, visual creative direction on point, impeccable timing to drop this... oh gapseye ate.'
