Bengaluru gets direct flight to Kathmandu – Air India Express makes it happen
Air India Express is set to launch a new daily direct service between Bengaluru and Kathmandu starting 1 June, further expanding its network of short-haul international leisure routes. The non-stop flight will depart Bengaluru at 5:05 am and return from Kathmandu at 9:05 am every day. Bookings for the new route are now open on the airline's official website, and other major travel platforms. Inaugural fares start at ₹ 8,000 for Xpress Lite and ₹ 8,500 for Xpress Value.
'The new route builds on our recent expansion into short-haul international leisure destinations such as Bangkok and Phuket,' said Aloke Singh, Managing Director, Air India Express, in a press release.
The airline also announced that the route will offer seamless one-stop connectivity to Kathmandu via Bengaluru from 20 cities across India, including Delhi, Hyderabad, Kochi, Jaipur, Pune, Srinagar, and Visakhapatnam, among others.
In addition, convenient one-stop connections to Kathmandu will be available via Bengaluru from two international destinations—Abu Dhabi and Dammam.
Air India Express currently operates over 450 weekly flights from Bengaluru, connecting directly to 31 destinations.

'Performed very efficiently recently': Russia says India to get remaining S-400 systems by 2026

The deal was signed in 2018 worth $5.43 billion. India had defied US threat against dealing with Russia in the wake of sanctions on Moscow. Developed by Russia's Almaz-Antey, the S-400 is among the most advanced long-range surface-to-air missile systems in the world. The S-400 can engage aerial targets at ranges of up to 400 km and detect threats as far as 600 km away. It supports four different types of missiles, enabling it to target everything from aircraft and drones to cruise and ballistic missiles. Equipped with sophisticated phased-array radar, the system can track over 100 targets simultaneously and is mounted on mobile launchers for rapid repositioning.

Delta Electronics signs PPA with Ventus Energy to reduce carbon footprint
Chennai, June 2 (PTI) Delta Electronics India, a prominent player in energy and power management solutions, has signed a Power Purchase Agreement with Ventus Energy Consultancy under its vision to reduce carbon footprint in the country. As per the agreement, Delta Electronics would source a combined 9.6 million units of wind power annually to power its manufacturing facilities in Tamil Nadu. This move is expected to reduce the company's dependence on fossil fuel-based electricity and cut approximately 6,979 metric tonne of carbon emissions annually. Delta Electronics has planned to expand its renewable sourcing across its facilities in the country by exploring smart grid innovations and implementing real-time monitoring powered by its own Automation and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies. In a press release on Monday, the company's President Benjamin Lin said, 'Integrating renewable energy into our operations aligns our growth with India's climate goals and accelerates our global net-zero vision. Collaborations like these are key to building a resilient and responsible energy ecosystem." The electricity would be sourced from wind farms located in Tirunelveli, Tuticorin and Tiruppur districts through a 12-year agreement signed with state electricity board — Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO). 'These PPAs are more than transactions — they are part of a long-term strategy to decarbonise our operations and contribute meaningfully to India's green transition. They also reaffirm our commitments under global frameworks like RE100 and the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)" the company's Managing Director Niranjan Nayak said. New Delhi: Russia is committed to delivering the remaining units of the S-400 air defence system to India by 2025-2026, the country's Deputy Chief of Mission in India, Roman Babushkin, said on Monday, highlighting that the system performed "very efficiently" during the recent India-Pakistan tensions. Babushkin also hinted at expanding bilateral cooperation with India in air defence and anti-drone systems. India signed a $5.43 billion deal with Russia in 2018 for five squadrons of the S-400 Triumf missile system, a state-of-the-art air defence platform capable of engaging multiple aerial threats at long ranges. Three squadrons have already been delivered. On the potential expansion of defence collaboration, Babushkin expressed openness to further dialogue. "We are open for promotion of this partnership for the discussion of the expansion of dialogue on air defence systems," he said, noting the strategic importance of such cooperation in the current global security environment. Commenting on the growing threat of drones, particularly in light of their extensive use during the India-Pakistan clash, the deputy chief of mission highlighted Russia's experience in countering such challenges. "We are facing this threat for several years already, and I think that our systems are being modernised constantly. I think it would be a joint interest from both sides how to counter this threat and lead to some other cooperation," he said, adding that anti-drone systems are already part of the ongoing India-Russia defence dialogue.
