Delta Electronics signs PPA with Ventus Energy to reduce carbon footprint

News182 days ago

Chennai, June 2 (PTI) Delta Electronics India, a prominent player in energy and power management solutions, has signed a Power Purchase Agreement with Ventus Energy Consultancy under its vision to reduce carbon footprint in the country.
As per the agreement, Delta Electronics would source a combined 9.6 million units of wind power annually to power its manufacturing facilities in Tamil Nadu. This move is expected to reduce the company's dependence on fossil fuel-based electricity and cut approximately 6,979 metric tonne of carbon emissions annually.
Delta Electronics has planned to expand its renewable sourcing across its facilities in the country by exploring smart grid innovations and implementing real-time monitoring powered by its own Automation and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies.
In a press release on Monday, the company's President Benjamin Lin said, 'Integrating renewable energy into our operations aligns our growth with India's climate goals and accelerates our global net-zero vision. Collaborations like these are key to building a resilient and responsible energy ecosystem." The electricity would be sourced from wind farms located in Tirunelveli, Tuticorin and Tiruppur districts through a 12-year agreement signed with state electricity board — Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO).
'These PPAs are more than transactions — they are part of a long-term strategy to decarbonise our operations and contribute meaningfully to India's green transition. They also reaffirm our commitments under global frameworks like RE100 and the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)" the company's Managing Director Niranjan Nayak said.
Ventus Energy Consultancy Director P Vijayabaskaran on the association with Delta Electronics said, 'With over 15 years of experience in renewable energy and a portfolio managing 750+ MW of wind and solar assets across Tamil Nadu, Ventus Energy Consultancy is proud to support Delta Electronics in its journey toward industrial decarbonisation." 'As Delta's renewable energy demand grows, we are committed to enabling this scale-up through strategic power procurement and regulatory alignment," he added. PTI VIJ VIJ ROH

Former RCB owner Mallya recalls picking Kohli, says IPL title is dream-come-true moment for him

New Delhi, Jun 4 (PTI) Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru owner Vijay Mallya recalled picking a young Virat Kohli 18 seasons ago in the players auction and said it was remarkable to witness the maestro staying loyal to the franchise, which has finally won a long-awaited IPL trophy. RCB defeated Punjab Kings by six runs in the IPL final in Ahmedabad on Tuesday to end their long wait in the 18th edition of the tournament. "When I founded RCB it was my dream that the IPL trophy should come to Bengaluru. I had the privilege of picking the legendary King Kohli as a youngster and it is remarkable that he has stayed with RCB for 18 years," Mallya wrote in a post on 'X'. RCB, which was bought by Mallya for USD 111.6 million back in 2008, picked Kohli in the inaugural IPL auction in January 2008, and the batting superstar has only played for the Bengaluru-based franchise since then. The UK-based Mallya lost ownership of the franchise in 2016 after defaulting on bank loans. The team is now completely owned by United Spirits. Mallya is, however, credited with playing major a role in signing the cricketing giants like AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle, Jacques Kallis, and Anil Kumble among others for RCB. "I also had the honour of picking Chris Gayle the Universe Boss and Mr 360 AB DeVillers who remain an indelible part of RCB history. Finally, the IPL trophy arrives in Bengaluru. "Congratulations and thanks again to all who made my dream come true. RCB fans are the very best and they deserve the IPL trophy. Ee Sala Cup Bengaluru baruthe ! (This year, the cup is ours)," Mallya wrote. The liquor baron, who is accused of defaulting on loans worth several crores from Indian banks, including the State Bank of India (SBI), congratulated the entire RCB team management for the triumph. "RCB are IPL Champions finally after 18 years. Superb campaign right through the 2025 tournament. A well balanced team Playing Bold with outstanding coaching and support staff. Many congratulations ! Ee sala cup namde !!"

Elon Musk's father Errol Musk to visit Ayodhya's Ram temple today

Errol Musk, father of tech billionaire Elon Musk, is scheduled to visit the Ram temple in Ayodhya on Wednesday afternoon, officials said. Errol will be accompanied by his daughter Alexandra Musk, during the visit to the temple town. The brief itinerary includes a visit to the Ram temple followed by a stop at the Hanumangarhi temple nearby, a police official said. "Errol Musk is scheduled to visit Ayodhya in the afternoon today," Ayodhya Commissioner Gaurav Dayal told PTI. "There is already a three-layered high-level security cover in place in Ayodhya, which includes round-the-clock deployment of high-tech anti-drone systems capable of detecting and neutralising unauthorised aerial activity," a police officer said. He added that security arrangements in and around the temple area include CCTV surveillance, regular checking of visitors, and deployment of specially trained personnel. "However, no additional security cover will be extended officially for this visit, as the existing measures are adequate," he said. Errol Musk, who is the Global Advisor to Servotech Renewable Power System Ltd, began his India trip on June 1 and will be in the country till June 6, a spokesperson for the Haryana-based company said in a statement. "His visit is squarely focused on accelerating India's burgeoning green technology and electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure development," the company said. Servotech Managing Director Raman Bhatia is also expected to visit the Ram temple on Wednesday. While Errol Musk was initially scheduled to visit the Taj Mahal in Agra as well, the plan may be dropped due to extreme heat in the region.
