Eddie Howe confident Alexander Isak will stay at Newcastle as he misses friendly
Isak went home as the rest of the squad returned from an Austrian training camp on Friday but he was never earmarked to play in Glasgow.
The 25-year-old, who pulled out of Sweden's friendly double header last month because of a groin injury, has been linked with a potential move to Liverpool this summer and, more recently, with Saudi club Al-Hilal.
Howe is desperate to keep the forward, who netted 27 goals last season.

Asked to explain the absence of Isak and Joelinton after the 4-0 defeat, Howe said: 'Both players are fit but we just felt they weren't ready to play.
'Joe's coming back from a long injury, so we need to make sure when he's introduced he's ready.
'Alex has trained this week and is fine but we didn't want to take the risk with him. Alex was with us all the way through Austria but, with all the speculation and things that are going on, I decided to send him home.
'It's purely the last thing Alex wants, if he's not playing, to be sat in the stand. Being under that scrutiny, I don't think that's fair to the player.'

Howe declared there had been no formal approach for Isak this summer but added: 'It's difficult for me to give 100 per cent clarity on any player. I'd never sit here and do that because it's football and you never know what could happen.
'All I can say is that Alex is happy at Newcastle. He loves the players that he plays with, the staff, the team.
'I've never had any issue with him other than really enjoying seeing his talent and seeing him express himself. Certainly I'm confident that he's going to be here at the start of the season.
'Your top players are so hard to find, they're so hard to recruit, they're so hard to develop and make them into those players. So when you have them, you need to treasure them.
'We certainly and the staff, recognise his talent and his ability. We're of course desperate to keep him part of our team.
'Alex has been really good and he's trained really well so far this season. So I know there'll be lots of noise around it and I can't really control that but from inside, he's been really good.'
Howe has had his frustrations in the transfer market this summer. Forward Callum Wilson rejected a new contract and the Newcastle manager reluctantly allowed Sean Longstaff to join Leeds on Friday with Premier League Profitability and Sustainability Rules a major factor.
'Sean was someone I never wanted to lose from the squad,' Howe said. 'But as we know and I've said many times, finances, PSR etc, long-term planning meant that sometimes these decisions have to be taken.
'So he's a big miss from our squad. Sean was very, very popular in the dressing room, very popular on the pitch. He did a great job. He tactically understood everything that we needed him to do.
'He's been an incredible servant to Newcastle. But we have to move on now without him.'
On the defeat by Celtic, Howe said: 'I think we looked a little bit jaded. Celtic, I thought were way ahead of us fitness-wise and sharpness-wise. But I think we'll be better for the game.'

Brendan Rodgers primed for Celtic's Champions League challenge after season-opening win
The champions needed a deflected strike from substitute Luke McCowan to edge past St Mirren with a 1-0 win as they started their Scottish Premiership title defence at Parkhead. Celtic earlier hit the frame of the goal through Benjamin Nygren, Reo Hatate and Adam Idah, and had a Callum McGregor strike disallowed for handball following a VAR intervention. But a strikeforce led by Idah inside Daizen Maeda and Yang Hyun-jun - with James Forrest and Johnny Kenny coming off the bench - looked in need of the reinforcements which Rodgers has been calling for. The Celtic manager was eager to praise his side's display and not labour that point, but fans will be keen to see new signings come in soon after Monday's Champions League play-off draw. The likes of Sturm Graz and Basel await Celtic as they discover their fate for the high-risk, high-reward games, which will take place in the final two weeks of this month. Rodgers said: 'We'll be ready for the games. Whenever they come, we'll be ready. The players are working very hard. 'They are always tense games. 'Defensively, I thought we were superb, very, very well organised. People use that as a slight against St Mirren sometimes, but that is one of the basics of management, get your team organised. 'We said we would have five or six opportunities to break and we did. Some we picked the right option, some we didn't. 'We didn't sit back the whole game, we pressed. Celtic 1 St Mirren 0 Luke McCowan's deflected strike earned Celtic a 1-0 victory in their William Hill Premiership opener after St Mirren had frustrated the champions for 87 minutes at Parkhead. The substitute collected Daizen Maeda's square pass on the edge of a crowded penalty box and fired a shot which appeared to spin off Mark O'Hara's leg and nestle into the bottom corner of the net. Celtic had earlier hit the frame of the goal through Benjamin Nygren, Reo Hatate and Adam Idah, while Callum McGregor had a goal disallowed following a VAR intervention. Brendan Rodgers was pleased that his side were able to find a way through and pick up all three points. 'It is a tough game and I thought it was an excellent win,' he said. 'They are a very well organised team. We just had to stay persistent and we were able to do that.' The Hoops were not at their free-flowing best but they ended the first weekend of the season two points ahead of Rangers, just like last season, when they remained above their rivals throughout the campaign. And he delivered a public message on Friday that he would only consider extending his contract beyond next summer if the board met his need for them to show ambition to move the club forward. Rodgers had two summer signings in his starting line-up in left-back Kieran Tierney and midfielder Nygren. His front three was led by Adam Idah with Yang Hyun-jun on the right wing and the left wing occupied by Maeda, who was so effective in a central role following the January exit of Kyogo Furuhashi. Celtic's early creativity came from Tierney on his return to competitive action with his boyhood club six years on from leaving for Arsenal. The Scotland international twice delivered crosses for Idah, who failed to trouble goalkeeper Shamal George, and saw a strike diverted over by Alex Gogic. Celtic came closest to a first-half breakthrough in the closing seconds when George pushed Nygren's shot on to the bar and saved the Sweden midfielder's headed rebound. The St Mirren keeper did well to stop McGregor's low drive just after the break and was relieved to see the ball bounce wide off his body after Hatate's speculative effort had deflected off Marcus Fraser's boot and the bar. McGregor charged down O'Hara's clearance and fired home midway through the half but the VAR team disallowed the strike for handball, after the ball appeared to hit the Celtic captain's upper arm, without referee Don Robertson being called to the monitor.
