Footy fans accuse State of Origin star of a low act after he overcame sex tape scandal to play a big role in Queensland's stunning win
The Maroons fullback was one of the best players for the series-winning Cane Toads - but he came under fire from angry NSW fans after appearing to kick Blues star Latrell Mitchell in the groin midway through the second half.
After brilliantly fielding a bomb and cutting through several would-be tacklers, 'The Hammer' was brought to ground and flipped over by Mitchell.
But as Tabuai-Fidow kicked out with his legs in order to get to his feet as quickly as possible, he lashed out with his right boot and caught Mitchell square in the genitalia, leaving the NSW centre writhing in pain on the ground.
Many fans thought the Queensland No.1 should have been penalised, sin-binned or even sent off - but the match officials had no problems with the passage of play and at the time of writing, he has not been cited by the Match Review Committee.
'Don't understand how he's on the field tbh,' one fan wrote on X.
'Accidental or not I don't know how the play wasn't stopped here,' added another.
'You can't have that in the game. Surely the Hammer will cop a few weeks for that,' a third commented.
'Trell would've got the chair if he did this,' another fan said.
'He definitely kicked out, had a couple of goes at it,' commented another.
However, some fans thought Mitchell got what he deserved after he upended Tabuai-Fidow in the tackle.
'Two cheap shots. Both players in the wrong,' one wrote.
'He was clearly reacting angrily to someone that nearly dumped him on his neck,' said another.
Tabuai-Fidow came into the game under scrutiny after coach Billy Slater made the bold call to move him from the wing to fullback after the injury to regular Queensland No.1 Kalyn Ponga.
Many fans and experts thought Broncos star Reece Walsh should've been called in, with Tabuai-Fidow left on the wing, but he proved them wrong with a five-star display in his new position.
He was safe as houses under the high ball, made several penetrating runs and set up halfback and man of the match Tom Dearden's first try with a brilliant sprint down the touchline after gathering an offload.
But question over his switch to fullback weren't the only worries he had during Origin camp.
Daily Mail Australia exclusively revealed that an explicit sex video of him with another woman is at the centre of his break-up with his NRLW star ex Jaime Chapman.
News of the couple's split was also broken by Daily Mail Australia after they both left telling clues on social media that revealed it was game over for their romance.
Chapman is arguably the poster girl of the NRLW competition after first entering the league with St George in 2021 before shifting to the Broncos and now, the Gold Coast Titans.
She has gone from star club player to being one of the NSW Blues' best in State of Origin and earning five appearances for the national side, the Jillaroos.
Chapman's career trajectory is mirrored by Tabuai Fidow's. He debuted for the Cowboys in 2020 before moving to the Dolphins in 2023 and stamping himself as one of the league's most exciting talents while excelling for Queensland and Australia.
They went public with their romance in December last year and featured heavily on each other's Instagram accounts.
One of their last public appearances together came on May 1, after Chapman's Blues team steamrolled Queensland 32-12 in the first match of the women's State of Origin series.
In heartwarming scenes, she went to the sidelines to greet friends and family after the win and kissed and hugged her man, who was holding a huge cardboard cut-out of her face.
Before the match, there was speculation about how the couple would deal with being on opposite sides of the hotly contested interstate battles.
'It'll be pretty weird when it comes around,' Tabuai-Fidow told NITV News.
'But she's got my support.'
Chapman said she would support Tabuai-Fidow when he runs out for the Maroons - but drew the line at backing the Cane Toads.
'I'll support him no matter what he does and no matter what team he plays for,' she said.

Former World Snooker champion Neil Robertson lands new job – and it could affect Ronnie O'Sullivan
NEIL ROBERTSON has landed himself a new job, which could have an impact on snooker rival Ronnie O'Sullivan. Three months after his shock first-round exit at the World Championship, the Aussie has bagged himself a new gig with the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association. 2 2 Robertson has been added to the WPBSA's Players' Board, a role which will require him to represent and support players outside of the UK on the World Snooker Tour. A snippet of WPBSA statement read: "It has today been announced that Neil Robertson has been co-opted to join the Board of WPBSA Players with immediate effect. "The 2010 world champion is widely regarded as one of the best long-potters and break-builders in the history of the sport and has won an incredible 25 ranking titles as well as being one of only 11 players in history to complete the Triple Crown. "In 2014, he became the first player to compile over 100 century breaks during a single season. "As the most successful player to ever come from Australia, Robertson's own personal experience as a professional – which includes relocating from his home nation to the UK as a teenager, will help to ensure that the many players from outside of the UK are represented and supported during their time on the World Snooker Tour." Fan favourite Robertson is over the moon with his new gig. He said: "It is an honour to have the opportunity to represent the views and feelings of my fellow professionals. "And to be able to use my own personal experiences to help the next generation of players." Robertson isn't the only player to have recently been handed a gig by the WPBSA. The organisation recently appointed Ben Woollson as their second-ever player-director in June, five months after Mark Davis' appointment. Snooker star Neil Robertson told he could win World Championship again if he ignores Crucible concerns Woollaston said: "I am pleased to join the board of WPBSA Governance and be able to provide representation for player issues at the highest level of our sport. "As a professional snooker player for over 20 years, I have been privileged to see first-hand the development of our sport during that time and to live the highs and lows of competing on the World Snooker Tour. "I look forward to sharing my experience with the team at the WPBSA and to helping shape the future development of our sport, from grassroots level to the professional circuit." Woollaston and Davis will work in conjunction with Nigel Mawer and governance director Nigel Oldfield to oversee the direction the body is taking.

Australia will shut up ‘cocky' Lions after Henry Pollock claim
The British and Irish Lions have been branded 'cocky' by former Wallaby World Cup-winner Chris Latham after Henry Pollock's bold declaration that a 3-0 whitewash is 'definitely on the table'. A backlash to Pollock's comments earlier this week risks blowing up on the tourists after the topic erupted on Tuesday ahead of the first Test, with Latham relishing Australia's chance to shut up Andy Farrell's side. The tourists have won every game since arriving Down Under, leading Pollock to claim a side aspiring to be 'the best Lions team ever' can sweep the series 3-0. Latham, full-back in the Wallaby team that came from behind to beat a Lions side captained by Martin Johnson in 2001, said the boasts were music to Australian ears. The World Cup winner said: 'Personally, that fires me up. For me, and I'm sure for every Aussie, it's like, 'OK, righto.. We'll shut you up'. I'm a Queenslander and it's ingrained in us to be underdogs and be able to pull a win out from nothing. 'This [talk] is perfect for us. I've been feeling this now for the last probably three, four weeks while the Lions have been thrashing everyone else and getting cockier and cockier. 'Everything you read, it's about 'how good are we' and 'we're building' and 'this is so great'. It's like, 'Yeah, you keep talking that, you keep believing that'.' The Lions are red-hot favourites for the series but Latham, who has returned from Chicago where he coaches in Major League Rugby to be at the game, insisted: 'Without a doubt [Australia can win]. 'This is what we're built on. This is the Aussie spirit. We're built on being the underdog. We're built on being the outcast. I probably shouldn't say this but we were sent here on a boat and we built something from nothing. We're tough.' Australian rugby has been a punchbag since Eddie Jones' ill-fated return to coach the Wallabies at the 2023 World Cup led to pool elimination for the first time. Time and again since they have heard it said they are no match for the best Britain and Ireland can muster, not least when Argentina stuck 67 points on them last summer. The performances of the warm-up acts here have done little to change the narrative after the Wallabies stumbled to a 21-18 victory over Fiji. But Latham, starting full-back for the Wallabies in the first Brisbane Test 24 years ago, said: 'I've heard it all before. The 'best Lions team to ever come out', Australia's 'got no chance'. We went 1-0 down in '01 and came back to win the next two. 'My heart hopes and wants Australia to do well. We need to be competitive, make sure these games go down to the wire, create heroes for the kids. 'Anything's possible in rugby, that's what I love about this game. Anything can happen. So... yeah, strap yourself in.'

Additional 800 children to be tested for STIs as police investigate accused Melbourne childcare paedophile Joshua Dale Brown
More than 800 additional children in the Australian state of Victoria are being recommended for testing for sexually transmitted infections after four more childcare centres were added to a list of known workplaces of alleged paedophile Joshua Dale Brown. More dates have also been added for 10 other childcare centres, with police citing incomplete records from the providers for the discrepancies. Earlier this month Victorian police revealed the 26-year-old childcare worker had been charged with more than 70 offences relating to eight alleged victims, aged between five months and two years old. Sign up for Guardian Australia's breaking news email Along with the health department, they released a list of 20 childcare centres where Brown worked between January 2017 and May 2025 and his known employment dates. Approximately 2,600 families with children who attended the centres were contacted, with 1,200 advised to undergo screening for sexually transmitted infections. Detectives from the sexual crimes squad on Tuesday confirmed four more centres had been added to Brown's work history. They are: Kids Academy Waratah Estate in Mickleham on 29 August 2024 Milestones Early Learning Tarneit on 10 September 2024 and 13 September 2024 Milestones Early Learning Braybrook on 4 December 2024 and 6 December 2024 Milestones Early Learning Greensborough on 5 December 2024, 31 January 2025 and 27 February 2025 Ten of the 20 centres already identified have also been updated based on new information provided to police, while Papilio Early Learning in Hoppers Crossing has been removed from the list after further investigation determined the information was incorrect. Police now believe Brown worked at 23 childcare centres between January 2017 and May 2025. It is understood discrepancies in Brown's work history were identified by both members of the public and detectives involved in the investigation. Affinity Education Group, which operates many of the listed centres, said it had provided police with updated employment records for Brown on 3 July. On Tuesday, the company apologised to affected families 'for the distress this is causing.' 'No family should have to go through this. We are committed to supporting every family impacted whilst continuing to cooperate fully with the authorities as the investigation continues,' a spokesperson said. In their statement, police said establishing Brown's complete work history had been 'extremely complex' as childcare providers do not have centralised records. It meant detectives had to 'execute search warrants to obtain handwritten records, shift rosters and other critical information.' Police also had to interview witnesses and assess more than 270 Crimestoppers reports to verify details and provide an accurate account of Brown's employment history. They have also sought to establish not just where Brown worked, but the specific shifts and duties he undertook. Victoria police acting commander, Janet Stevenson, acknowledged some families would be frustrated by the delay in updating to Brown's work history. Sign up to Breaking News Australia Get the most important news as it breaks after newsletter promotion 'We are working through a large amount of information that has been provided to us,' said. 'Each piece of information has to be individually assessed and verified before it can be used as part of the investigation or released to the public. 'I want to reinforce that this is a continually evolving and changing situation. What hasn't changed is that this investigation remains the highest priority for Victoria Police.' The police statement said investigators were 'assessing new information daily' and 'further updates are likely in the coming weeks'. The health department said it was contacting 830 additional families as a result of the new information, with 800 children likely to have direct contact with Brown recommended for testing. 'This is obviously a highly distressing situation, and I want to reassure all families being contacted that the potential exposure risk to an infectious disease for their child remains low,' the Victorian chief health officer, Dr Christian McGrath, said. 'Our recommendation for testing is a precaution and the test results we've received to date as part of this investigation reaffirms that the risk is low.' Families will be contacted initially via SMS and then with a phone call. The department urged families to check the updated list of childcare centres and employment dates before calling its advice line. Children who have already been tested will not need any additional screenings, the department said. The health department has not publicly stated the infections the children will be screened for. However, in information provided to affected parents and seen by Guardian Australia, they have recommended testing for chlamydia, gonorrhoea and syphilis for some children or chlamydia and gonorrhoea for others. The infections can all be treated with antibiotics.
