Scaler Innovation Lab ties up with Gahan AI to develop autonomous mobility solutions for mining sector
Scaler Innovation Lab
has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bengaluru-based deep-tech startup
Gahan AI
to co-develop autonomous navigation systems tailored for the mining industry. The partnership aims to address the challenge of enabling autonomous vehicles to operate in unmapped, off-road environments without prior map data, including under adverse weather conditions.
As part of the agreement, Gahan AI will operate from the Scaler Innovation Lab, where it will mentor early-stage startups and participate in regular showcases. Under the collaboration, select students from Scaler School of Technology and Scaler School of Business will work on research and development projects alongside Gahan AI's engineering team to build AI models and systems that can replicate decision-making in unstructured environments, a capability considered essential for operations in hazardous areas and disaster response scenarios.
Abhimanyu Saxena, Co-founder, Scaler, said, 'This collaboration is a testament to our belief that real-world impact is the best classroom. We're excited to offer our students the opportunity to solve hard problems that matter, while empowering a homegrown startup like Gahan AI to fast-track innovation.'
Gahan AI will conduct workshops and hackathons for Scaler students, as well as offer internship opportunities. Students will engage with real-world
autonomous mobility
problems and be mentored by Gahan AI's leadership.
Mining safety as a priority
The initiative is intended to address safety issues in the
mining sector
. According to the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS), transportation-related incidents account for around 40 per cent of mining fatalities in India. Globally, the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM) attributes over 70 per cent of surface mining deaths to vehicle interactions in unstructured environments.

Although the White House says these updates should not affect current Social Security payments, SSA workers say there may still be delays for routine changes, like updating direct deposit info or sorting out Medicaid billing. Employees have been told to prioritize the remaining cases under the Fairness Act. "Using automation, SSA has already expedited over $15.1 billion in long-delayed retroactive payments to more than 2.3 million individuals affected," White House spokesperson Liz Huston said previously. SSA workers also say they've been given a deadline of July 1 to complete the updates, which is creating a backlog and slowing down responses to other types of requests.

As on June 4, roughly 2.65 lakh accounts were registered, with 1.13 lakh users completing universal registration, 1.05 lakh of whom opted for Aadhaar verification. Approximately 60,000 candidates submitted the common application form, while 55,000 applications remained under review. UPSC chairman Ajay Kumar reportedly said they have removed repetitive data entry, enabling candidates to reuse their details across exams for a seamless and efficient experience. Marking a historic shift, the UPSC had adopted Aadhaar authentication for the first time on August 28, 2024 to implement the voluntary Aadhaar verification using Yes/No or e-KYC methods during registration and exams. In the Puja Khedkar case, the former IAS probationer allegedly submitted 12 forged documents to bypass attempt limits for the 2022 Civil Services Examination. The UPSC nullified her candidature, filed a criminal case, and the DoPT dismissed her from service. Ms Khedkar, denying the charges, is contesting the decisions in court. To further tighten security, the UPSC issued a tender for public sector companies, with a deadline of July 30, 2025 to deploy advanced verification systems. The chosen company will enter a three-year contract, receiving candidate details - name, roll number, and photo - seven days prior to exams for Aadhaar-based fingerprint and facial recognition authentication. Exam centers will be equipped with fingerprint scanners and facial recognition devices, using data from online Aadhaar registrations. The contracted company is prohibited from entering exam venues for verification. Exam rooms will also feature AI-powered CCTV cameras, with a minimum of one camera per 24 candidates, programmed to detect suspicious activities like unauthorised movement, prolonged invigilator loitering, disorganised setups, or activity one hour before or after exams. Real-time alerts will flag irregularities, with penalties imposed for disabled cameras or failed verifications. Sony Music India, The Hello Group form JV to expand global touring for Indian artists

The venture combines Sony Music India's understanding of the local market with THG's international network in live touring and artist development.
