Disneyland Ride Shuts Down After Frightening Car Derailment

A popular ride at Disneyland was halted on Wednesday after one of its cars derailed. One of the cars on the Autopia ride in Tomorrowland went off the tracks and wound up in the bushes. The Disney blog Laughing Place shared photos and video of the mishap on social media, which show the red vehicle turned sideways and resting among the dirt and shrubbery. According to reports, the remaining cars on the ride were evacuated and Autopia was briefly closed down. Thankfully, no one was reportedly hurt, and the ride resumed operating later on. "First time I've actually seen a car derailed on Autopia. Attraction is completely shut down. #Disneyland," Laughing Place tweeted. According to the official Disneyland website, Autopia is designed from children, tweens and adults 32 inches and taller. The only existing Tomorrowland attraction dating back to Disneyland's opening in 1955, Autopia is designed for smaller drivers. "Cruise the scenic winding roads of this classic attraction in a souped-up coupe," the website says. "Pick up the pace as you rumble under a small bridge and see iconic attractions like the Matterhorn in the distance. Spot Honda's Humanoid Robot and Bird along the road. "Featuring a working gas pedal and steering wheel, each classy chassis seats 2 adults or 3 children and navigates curves and inclines just like the real thing." Vehicles are built with front and rear bumpers and an undercarriage guide rail, but sometimes, as we saw yesterday, thinks can go awry. Thankfully no one was hurt, and business resumed as normal.
