Aldi launches 'UK first' bubbles-free prosecco for summer and it costs under £6
The supermarket's "unique" take on the classic tipple has already gone down a storm with experts.
As soon as the sun is shining, is there anything better than a glass of fizz? Prosecco is one of those drinks that can easily set the tone for a summer garden party or BBQ.
Of course, the whole point of the tipple is the bubbles, which is why Aldi's latest invention has been grabbing attention, with wine experts branding it as "the wine of the summer."
The supermarket's brand new Still Prosecco DOC has been hailed as a "UK first", as it is said to boast the same taste everyone knows and loves, just minus the iconic bubbles for a "unique twist."
Coming in at a budget-friendly £5.99 a bottle, the bubble-less tipple has been crafted from the same Glera grapes as its fizzy counterpart, meaning it will still offer prosecco lovers the same fresh, fruity flavour that they have come to expect.
Speaking of its fizz-free prosecco, Aldi said: "Think vibrant orchard fruit aromas and a crisp, refreshing taste – perfect for those seeking a lighter, trend-forward alternative to traditional white wine."
For those who are unsure if the Still Prosecco would be up their street, then multiple wine experts have tried it out. One was Tom Tryon who recently took to Instagram to share his overall thoughts after initially being hesitant.
Despite being initially sceptical, he said: "Smells pretty fresh, pretty apple-y. That's what I'd expect from a prosecco.
"It's nicely in balance, it's not too sharp, not too sour. It's got more depth of flavour than I usually associate with prosecco too.
"I tell you what, this is better than I expected. It's got a nice crispness to it, it's super apple-y and fresh, a little bit of sweetness, but that makes it really drinkable. Very hard not to like it."
While he went on to admit that it was probably "not as fun" as a bubbly prosecco, the wine expert did confirm that he thought that a chilled bottle would definitely "be great for the summer."
Tom wasn't the only wine expert to be smitten with the unique prosecco, as Sam Caporn, also known as the Mistress of Wine, praised the new wine by saying: "This light, fresh, still Prosecco has much in common with its sparkling sibling, boasting notes of apricot, honeysuckle, ripe pear and melon with beautifully balancing lemon acidity. Delicious!"

She further explained: "This is made from the same grape as the sparkling wine - Glera - and as such, it has the same tasty flavours of orchard and stone fruits.
"It also makes an excellent alternative to famous northern Italian wines such as Gavi. It would be fantastic when enjoyed alongside classic Italian dishes such as seafood pasta, carbonara or risotto."
Aldi's Still Prosecco is not the unique tipple to land on shelves recently, as the supermarket's viral Specially Selected Rosorange Rosé officially came back to stores last month after it "broke the internet" last year.
Costing £9.99 for a 75cl, the hybrid wine was the first-of-its-kind in any supermarket, as it blended the popular orange wine with a classic Rosé, offering what experts branded as "unusual" but also "delicious" at the same time.
Willing to try out Aldi's Still Prosecco DOC? Then it is officially available to buy in stores nationwide for just £5.99.

Tijjani Reijnders is £46million Man City signing who worked in ALDI and is named after legendary winger
TRANSFER SUPERMARKET Tijjani Reijnders is £46million Man City signing who worked in ALDI and is named after legendary winger TIJJANI REIJNDERS is perfectly placed to lead Manchester City's £130million supermarket sweep. When the Netherlands international joined Milan he was asked about his rise to the top and said: "I recently noticed an article 'from amateur to AC Milan'. "But when I think about it, I like 'from Aldi to AC Milan' even better!" Aldi to Manchester City will have an even better ring to it for Guardiola's new midfield general. READ MORE ON FOOTBALL GUNNER GO Arsenal release 17 players as Sterling and Partey learn their fate It is quite the challenge for the midfielder, though he arrives with some stellar references. Milan and Netherlands great Frank Rijkaard is convinced Reijnders is destined for the top. Speaking earlier this season, he said: "I hope that Reijnders becomes one of the best midfielders in the world… I sincerely believe he's already on the right path. "I really like his style of play. He can cover all roles in the midfield and shows his generosity: he never holds back from a run for the team and always gives his best. CASINO SPECIAL - BEST CASINO BONUSES FROM £10 DEPOSITS "With the quality he has, he's excellent at creating dangerous chances for his teammates and setting up the play well." Reijnders can bring a bit of everything to a Manchester City midfield in need of a shot in the arm. Kevin De Bruyne given emotional Etihad send off as Man City take huge leap towards return to Champions League The former AZ Alkmaar man made more interceptions than any other midfielder in Serie A this season as well as creating the most chances from open play. He may not have the craft of De Bruyne when it comes to creating chances - there are few, if any, who do - but Reijnders can also find the back of the net. Milan's maestro bagged 15 goals from midfield this term - two more than any other midfielder in the Italian top flight. Reijnders' path to the top has been carefully plotted, aided by his father and agent, Martin - a former player himself who was a team-mate of Jaap Stam at Dutch side Zwolle. The family clearly planned a footballing career for their son from day one, naming him Tijjani after former Nigerian winger, Tijani Babangida. Younger brother Eliano also plays for his father's former side, Zwolle. Martin revealed after sealing Tijjani's move to Milan that the pair had decided to turn down Barcelona in order to join the Rossoneri. Barca were on the lookout for an heir to Sergio Busquets and Reijnders' father made the brave and bold decision to tell his son that he was not quite up to the task. 11 Reijnders' parents named their son after former Ajax and Nigeria winger Tijani Babangida Credit: Getty 11 His brother Eliano plays for Zwolle Credit: Alamy 11 Reijnders is hoping to fill the void left behind by Kevin De Bruyne Credit: instagram @tijjanireijnders He told Dutch outlet Algemeen Dagblad: "I immediately told Tijjani, 'You are not that type of player. Before you know it, you'll end up on the bench. And you'd become yet another player who fails abroad.'" There was Premier League interest two years ago, but Reijnders has rapidly developed in Milan and now feels prepared to take his biggest step yet. As well as carefully planning his progression, Reijnders has studied fellow players to add as much to his game as possible. Speaking to The Athletic, Reijnders said: 'When I got older, I looked a lot at Kevin De Bruyne. I watched his games, YouTube clips. 'Especially the way he was scanning the pitch before he gets the ball so he always knows where the space is. "I try to do the same.' Before looking to add elements of De Bruyne to his game, City's new man carefully studied another Guardiola stalwart in Andres Iniesta. There are few deals which can be a sure thing, not every signing is as obvious as Erling Haaland. But in Reijnders, Manchester City look to have identified a player capable of grabbing hold of a game who is primed to slot straight into a Guardiola side. 11 Reijnders has an eye for goal Credit: Getty 11 He is married to Marina Credit: instagram @tijjanireijnders 11 They welcomed baby son Xavien in February 2024 Credit: instagram @tijjanireijnders 11 The family regularly post snaps on social media Credit: instagram @tijjanireijnders

Gemma Collins reveals shock diagnosis as she gives fans health update
Gemma took to Instagram to give her fans a health update. Gemma Collins has revealed that she's been battling pneumonia. The 44 year old reality TV star took to social media to share an update about her health, revealing that she's been ill for the last three weeks. She penned on Instagram: "Hey guys sorry been quiet i have Pneumonia. I'm not as fast or on it as I usually am on the daily. I am still honouring my work commitments which is taking every bit of energy I have but will be back entertaining you all soon." On Instagram she went on to show her followers that she was receiving treatment via a drip and had been seen by a doctor. Pneumonia is an inflammation of the lungs typically caused by an infection. While most people recover within two to four weeks, infants, the elderly, and those with heart or lung conditions are at a higher risk of severe illness and may require hospitalisation, writes The Mirror. Many of Gemma's pals and followers rushed to the comments to send her well-wishes underneath her update. "You giving us all so much energy and good vibes! Get your rest! Wouldn't want anything to happen to you," X Factor legends Jedward told their close pal. Back in April, Gemma opened up on her recent weight-loss and how had massively helped improve her health. Gemma told The Mirror that since she started taking diabetes medication Mounjaro, that some use as a weightloss aid, she feels a renewed sense of self-assurance, even going as far as to say she's "saving the NHS" with her slimmer figure. "I've lost so much weight, you wouldn't believe it," she expressed. She reflected on her transformation, remarking, "It's just a shame I had to wait until I was 44 for this life-changing drug to come out because being overweight isn't good for your health, and it's just so lovely now that I have been able to live like a normal person. There's no food noise anymore. I feel so much better and free as a person to concentrate on other stuff because I'm not constantly thinking about food." The term 'food noise' encapsulates the relentless, distracting thoughts about eating that plague some individuals - contemplating what, when, and how much to eat, as well as battling cravings. These aren't simple pangs of hunger but rather intrusive thought patterns that can dominate one's day, sapping concentration, vitality, and serenity. Gemma praised the weight loss medication, confessing: "All of my clothes are too big now, that's the problem, I'm wearing everything oversized." "As the weather gets warmer, I am just gonna start being able to wear tighter stuff and things like that, but I'm not quite there yet. I'll put some pyjamas on and a nightie, and I'm like, 'God, these are massive'. I can't believe they used to fit me and now they're hanging off." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! The Scottish seaside hidden gem village that was crowned 'most picturesque'
The Daily Record is back with our first Village of the Week of June. Each week, we look across Scotland for a town or village that is truly special, and for the first of the summer season we have chosen a destination unlike any other. St Abbs is a small fishing village located near Eyemouth along the Berwickshire coast. The Scottish Borders village was first known as Coldingham Shore, before its name was changed during the 1890s. As reported by the Daily Record, the village was previously crowned the "most picturesque" village in Scotland. Photography experts at ParrotPrint also named the destination as among the most scenic in the whole of the UK. St Abbs is most famous for its dramatic coastal scenery and magnificent cliff-top views. It features idyllic fishermen's cottages, while its pristine waters provide the perfect backdrop for beautiful photographs. The village is situated near the St Abbs Head National Nature Reserve, which consists of around 200 acres. The reserve is famous for its seabird colonies, with guillemots, kittiwakes, razorbills, and many more calling it home. In addition to the St Abbs Head National Nature Reserve, other top beauty spots in the area include St Abbs Harbour and the St Abbs Head Lighthouse. The former hosts the weekly St Abbs Market on Fridays where visitors can pick up artisan goods and homemade treats, while the St Abbs Head Lighthouse dates back to the 19th century. St Abbs is also known for its connections to Hollywood, with the village being used as a filming location for both blockbuster movies and music videos. It can be seen as New Asgard in the 2019 film Avengers: Endgame, as well as Harry Styles' video for his 2019 single 'Adore You'. Meanwhile, when it comes to food, one of the best eateries in the village is Ebbcarrs Cafe. Here, customers can enjoy everything from local seafood to sandwiches and baked treats. Keep reading for a few photographs showcasing some of St Abbs' highlights. For additional travel inspiration, a selection of the Daily Record's past Towns and Villages of the Week can be found here:
