26 arrested in fentanyl bust in Osceola County
The Osceola County Sheriff's Office has arrested 26 suspects in a fentanyl trafficking bust that is now called the largest bust in Osceola County history.
Operation 'My Brother's Keeper' was a three-month sting that started with undercover agents buying small amounts from two brothers, which eventually unraveled a major operation across Orange and Osceola Counties.
Sheriff Marco Lopez held a press conference to discuss the details of the operation.
'That's a lot of Fentanyl poisoning our communities. The population of Osceola County is roughly 400 something thousand. It could potentially wipe out every man, woman, and child here. You don't have a bomb; you don't have a military. What you have here is people illegally pushing this poison', Sheriff Marco Lopez.
In total, a vehicle, thousands in cash, and over 13 grams of fentanyl.

Downtown Las Vegas businesses brace for weekend protests
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Marco Lopez, co-owner of Juice Stars, told 8 News Now his business was vandalized earlier this week during the Las Vegas protest downtown. Anti-ICE expletives were spray-painted on his storefront, and he spent nearly two hours cleaning it up. 'At first I was like 'ugh really,' but I came in, grabbed a razor blade, spray bottle, and just had to sit there and scrape slowly,' Lopez said. He is now preparing his business for the protests planned this weekend. 'I mean we're gonna prep as best we can, bring all our stuff inside, get stuff put away, possibly just take everything money-wise, valuable out of here,' said Lopez. The owner also plans to monitor the store's security cameras, since the business will be closed during those hours. Other employees working at downtown businesses, who wanted to remain anonymous, told 8 News Now they are taking precautions. Many did not want to be named out of fear of retribution. 'The company we partnered with next door had to lock up their doors just as a precaution and for extra safety as well,' a woman told 8 News Now. She explained although they hope things won't get out of hand over the weekend, they are prepared to close their doors if it does. 'To close up early would impact our sales obviously, but we just want to make sure everyone's safe out there, especially our employees,' she said. The downtown protest is expected to take place at the federal courthouse tomorrow from 5-7 p.m. According to a press release, it is meant to be 'peaceful protests against the Trump administration.' The area is next to the Westgate Vacation Villas Resort, which is in close proximity to the Central Florida theme parks and dozens of other resorts. Osceola County Fire Rescue (OCFR) said they took the child to the hospital, but they did not survive. Officials say the drowning was accidental in nature and does not appear to be criminal. The child and their family were visiting the area on vacation, authorities say. What they're saying "Out of respect and consideration for the family during this difficult time, we will not be releasing any additional information regarding this incident," deputies with the OCSO said. Apopka sisters fight for parents' return after deportation
An Apopka family is distressed after their parents were sent back to Guatemala. The two American-born daughters spoke out today, asking for their parents to be allowed to come home. This story shows how tough immigration rules can be for families. The parents, Esvin Juarez and Rosmeri Miranda, were recently deported. Esvin, who owns a small business and has four American kids, was held by immigration officers and then sent away. Rosmeri was also held and is now deported. The family says Esvin was even trying to get a special visa for crime victims, because he was attacked in 2021. Beverly Juarez, one of the daughters, shared her family's history in the U.S. 'My mom and my dad are Guatemalans who have been together for over 20 years,' she said. 'They came into the country illegally a long time ago. They missed a court date because they were scared, and then they were ordered to leave.' Beverly explained that her dad had been working with immigration officials since 2010 to try and become legal. Groups like the Immigrants Are Welcome Here Coalition and Hope CommUnity Center are supporting the family. Felipe Sosa, who runs the Hope CommUnity Center, said the family wants a fair chance. 'What we are asking for is simple and lawful: a stay of deportation so this family can have a full and fair chance to present their case,' Sosa explained. This means they want the deportation stopped so a judge can hear their full story. However, not everyone agrees with the family's plea. U.S. Congressman Randy Fine supported the deportations. He said, 'I think it's a great day. Two more illegal immigrants sent home.' He believes the parents are fully responsible for the situation. 'The only people who bear any responsibility for this situation are the illegal immigrant parents who did this, he added.' State Senator Carlos Guillermo Smith stood with the Juarez family, saying, 'Today we are all the Juarez family because we are all immigrants.' The family and their supporters hope that officials will show understanding and allow the Juarez parents to reunite with their children.
