New senior housing development is coming soon to Kissimmee, See where
The Osceola Council on Aging (OCOA) officially broke ground on the Buen Vecino Senior Housing development, which will soon become part of Buenaventura Lakes. Buen Vecino is scheduled for development on an expansive seven acres located off Competition Drive. OCOA conducted a groundbreaking ceremony at the site's future location. This wonderful project will feature a cozy 60-unit rental complex with a welcoming clubhouse for communal dining, an onsite community service coordinator to organize fun social activities, a computer lab and a great exercise facility. Here's a closer look at the new housing development, located across from 253 Competition Drive, as shown on the map below. Each cozy one-bedroom unit offers around six hundred square feet of space, making it perfect for up to two people to enjoy comfortably. Florida man faces charges after allegedly threatening to assassinate the president
Prosecutors are moving forward with the case against a Cape Coral man accused of threatening to assassinate the President. The U.S. Attorney announced that Christopher Davies has appeared in Federal court on one count of making threats against the President. If convicted, Davies faces a maximum penalty of five years in federal prison. Prosecutors claim that Davies wrote and mailed a letter to the Charlotte Correctional Institute, which included a detailed threat against the President's life. SpaceX set to launch GPS satellite from Florida's Space Coast, weather permitting
SpaceX crews are preparing for a Falcon 9 rocket launch on Friday from Florida's Space Coast. SpaceX is targeting 1:23 p.m. for the launch of a next-generation GPS satellite. Officials said GPS III-7 is designed to enhance the accuracy and security of the Global Positioning System that powers everything from smartphones to military systems. The GPS III-7 satellite, part of the U.S. Space Force's modernization efforts, will be delivered to orbit where it will join a constellation of satellites. This mission continues SpaceX's rapid-fire launch cadence. This will be the 5th rocket launch for SpaceX this week, including three Starlink launches and the 9th test flight of its Starship mega rocket. SpaceX is also continuing to focus on its cost-saving reusable rockets. The first-stage booster for this launch has already flow for three other missions, including CRS-32, NROL-69, and a Starlink deployment. After the launch, SpaceX will one again attempt to launch the first-sage booster on its droneship, 'A Shortfall of Gravitas,' in the Atlantic Ocean. Foundation honors Lake County deputies attacked in deadly ambush
A local foundation honored the Lake County deputies who were ambushed while responding to a service call in Eustis last August. That ambush claimed the life of Master Deputy Bradley Link. Deputies Harold Howell and Stefano Gargano were severely injured. Julie Sulpizio is currently in jail awaiting a competency hearing. She is accused of playing a role in the deadly attack by luring the deputies to her home. Investigators say when deputies responded to a domestic dispute in the neighborhood, Link and another deputy entered the back of a house and were met with gunfire. Link was fatally shot several times. Deputies say Sulpizio's husband and two daughters took their own lives after the attack. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation honored those deputies for their bravery and sacrifice at its post-golf awards dinner in Lady Lake Thursday. 'For all their work, everything the do, we want them to know Tunnel to Towers will never forget and we're here to support them,' said Tunnel to Towers Foundation volunteer director John Manning.
