J&K: Trial run held at Yatri Niwas base camp ahead of Amarnath Yatra
Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir), June 30 (ANI): A trial run was conducted at Yatri Niwas, the base camp for the Amarnath Yatra in Jammu, to check the preparedness for the upcoming annual pilgrimage. Buses were sent out under full security cover as part of the exercise to ensure all arrangements are in place.
The first batch of pilgrims will be flagged off from the Jammu base camp on July 2. The Yatra will formally begin on July 3 from both the Baltal and Pahalgam routes.
Deputy Commissioner of Jammu, Sachin Kumar Vaishy, said that all preparations for the yatra have been completed. 'Today, tokens will be distributed at Saraswati Dham. We appeal to people to come in large numbers; we will provide them with all the necessary facilities, and no one will face any issues. We have full preparations for everything,' he told reporters.
On Sunday, in a preemptive move to ensure the safety of the pilgrims, a joint mock landslide drill was conducted by the Indian Army, CRPF, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Jammu and Kashmir State Disaster Response Force (JKSDRF). The exercise was carried out at Samroli, Toldi Nallah, along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, one of the critical routes for the Yatra.
Meanwhile, Director General of Police Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat, on Saturday, held a joint security review meeting in Udhampur for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra scheduled to start from July 1 to August 9.
The meeting was held to check preparations and boost coordination among all agencies involved.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Udhampur-Resai range Sarah Rizvi, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Udhampur Amod Nagpure, Additional SP Udhampur, other senior Officers of the District Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), and traffic police.
SSP Udhampur gave a detailed presentation highlighting the district's security plan, including deployment of forces, convoy and traffic management, safety of camps and langar sites, emergency plans, and readiness of Quick Reaction Teams.
Addressing the meeting, the DGP emphasised to all the officers to maintain very close coordination, which he said is of utmost importance to ensure an incident-free Yatra.
He directed that the zonal/sectoral officers must have the information regarding the availability and location of special teams like Drone Units, BD squad, Dog squad, QRTs etc., to ensure that services of these teams are utilised on a real-time basis in case of any emergency. (ANI)

According to police, Sonam conspired with her boyfriend Raj Kushwaha to hire three other men to kill her husband Raja during their honeymoon, nearly two weeks after their wedding. Meanwhile, Muskan Rastogi, along with her lover Sahil Shukla, had allegedly stabbed her husband Saurabh Rajput to death on March 4 before chopping his body up into multiple pieces and hiding them inside a cement-filled drum.

Amarnath Yatra: Token distribution for registration begins in Jammu, dry run conducted
Jammu, Ahead of the Amarnath Yatra , the token distribution centre for offline registration of the pilgrims was operationalised here on Monday, even as the authorities successfully conducted a dry run of the arrangements along the Jammu-Srinagar national highway, officials said. The 38-day pilgrimage to the 3,880-metre-high holy cave shrine of Amarnath will commence from the twin tracks - the traditional 48-km-long Nunwan-Pahalgam route in Anantnag district and the 14-km shorter but steeper Baltal route in Ganderbal district - on July 3. "The registration will begin tomorrow at three centres - Vaishnavi Dham, Panchayat Bhawan and Mahajan Sabha. This is the only centre from where devotees can get the token. The centre opens at 7 am," he said. The SDM said the per-day quota of tokens and registration is 2,000 each, and the counters will remain open till the daily quota is exhausted. Ahead of the Yatra, the administration conducted a successful dry run of the convoy on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway to ensure a safe and trouble-free yatra, officials said. Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar and Inspector General of Police Bhim Sen Tuti accompanied the convoy, which left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu around 4.30 am. Kumar said that arrangements for food, shelter, sanitation and other essentials have been made after reviewing security and other arrangements along the highway in Udhampur and Ramban districts. Deputy Commissioner Jammu Sachin Kumar told reporters that people should come in large numbers as the administration has made elaborate arrangements for a comfortable and secure pilgrimage. Police officials said foolproof security arrangements are in place along the highway, with a joint control room monitoring the movement of pilgrim vehicles through CCTV cameras. Officials working in emergency departments are also part of this joint control room to ensure a swift response to any situation, they said.

This year's arrangements for Yatra are significantly better from previous years: LG
Srinagar, June 30 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today said that significantly better arrangements have been put in place for this year's Amarnath Yatra compared to previous years. During his visit to Baltal in Ganderbal to review on-ground preparations ahead of the Yatra commencing on July 3, LG Sinha noted that the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board (SASB), civil administration, J&K Police, security forces, and all other stakeholders have implemented a range of pilgrim-centric measures to ensure a peaceful, safe, and hassle-free experience for devotees. LG Sinha also chaired a high-level meeting attended by senior officers from various departments and top officials from security agencies. The meeting focused on finalizing coordination mechanisms and reviewing the preparedness for the annual pilgrimage. Speaking to the media following the review, the LG expressed satisfaction over the comprehensive arrangements. "I have closely observed the last four pilgrimage and I can confidently say that this year, the level of arrangements and preparedness by administration is far superior ," LG Sinha said. He lauded the seamless coordination between the various security forces, emphasizing that robust and well-integrated security protocols have been established to ensure the safety of all pilgrims. "I hope that this year's pilgrimage will be smoother and more successful than ever before. And the pilgrims who will come from all over the country will return with a memorable experience," he added.
