England fans jubilant as their heroes win Euros again
"Brilliant," is one word that nearly every single England fan I speak to utters as I call out to them outside the stadium. Many look dazed.Lina, who is Swiss, is clearly having a moment when I approach her."It [the game] was exceptional," she says, putting her hands in front of her face."I'm freaking out."Lina tells me she is a new England fan - she first saw edits of the team's captain Leah Williamson on social media and got into women's football that way."It's the first women's match I've been to and it was really, really spectacular."We were right next to the pitch."As has become the norm in this tournament for the Lionesses, they left it until the very last moment to send their supporters into a frenzy of jubilation.Spain took the lead in the first half, but an Alessia Russo goal in the 57th minute levelled things, and took the game into extra time. With no change to the scoreline coming, it was on to those greatest of nail-biters - penalties.
I can feel the energy around Anna from Essex as I approach her to ask for her thoughts about the game. She makes a sound that appears to indicate her head is exploding and then asks me "can you put that into words?"Her friend, Sarah, is calmer."I felt like something was going to happen," she says."I didn't lose faith, which I would have done in previous tournaments. I did at the World Cup final [in 2023] - I started crying at 80 minutes."Clearly being a long-time Lioness fan brings with it wisdom. Like Jo, Sarah's also a dedicated fan - Monday night will see her clocking on for a night shift, so there will only be a few celebratory drinks for her tonight.
Not everyone, of course, was happy with the result. Rosa is Spanish but lives in the Swiss city of Bern, about 92km (57 miles) from Basel."I'm very, very sad because I think Spain played well," she tells me when I ask how she's feeling. She told me she knew it was over for her team when it went to penalties, but is still proud of them."We have a lot of good talent...I'm waiting for the next championship so we will see, I have a good feeling about that."

Love Island viewers criticise producers for 'breaking the fourth wall' as they allow Blu to reveal drama from his time on the outside
Love Island viewers criticised the producers for 'breaking the fourth wall' during Wednesday's episode when they allowed Blu to discuss the outside. In a shock twist former contestants Blu and Megan re-entered the villa last week despite being dumped and fans are the show aren't happy. Upon his return, Blu wasted no time in revealing drama from his time on the outside and relayed information to the boys. Dejon was speaking to Blu and Harry about Megan and said: 'You know how much I love Megan but I just feel like the first time Megan came in compared to this time is completely different.' Blu asked: 'Is that because she's been on the outside?' He then went on to reveal what had happened during their time back at home and explained: 'Megan and Tommy were speaking before they came in here. I've heard it.' Blue continued: 'When Tommy and Lucy were in Tape [London club], cracking on... she was fuming.' Dejon asked: 'Connor is our boy man, it's such a hard situation to be in. Don't you think we should tell him?' Harry agreed and added: 'We have to chat with Con, mate.' Megan and Conor's relationship was cut short when she was dumped but her return saw them reunite. Going over to chat with Connor, Harry passed on the news and said: 'Lucy was getting with Tommy and Megan was behind and she was fuming.' Connor questioned: 'Fuming that Lucy and Tommy were getting together?' Blu added: 'She's going to tell you that it's a lie and come at me but that is what I saw.' Fans at home were left furious over the conversation and aired their feelings on X: 'This is why producers shouldn't bring back previous islanders…'; Others shared: 'Nooo this needs to be like Big Brother, if you're talking about what you know on the outside you need to be dumped. Get Blu gone'; 'I don't like this outside intel'; 'Producers allowing Blu to give away the whole dynamic??'; 'No because doesn't that fully defeat the entire purpose of the show??'; 'Surely there's some sort of policy/contract breaking here Blu telling the opinions and info from the outside people shouldn't be allowed to be brought back after being dumped!!!' Love Island fans have already accused Blu of ''stirring drama' to get more 'air time' as the final approaches. The former dumped Islander returned to the villa on Tuesday alongside Megan after being the second contestant to leave the show earlier in the season. During Friday night's episode, the Spanish lad had plenty to say about Toni during the infamous Grafties. As part of the game, a clip was shown of Cach - who Toni had previously split from to pursue things with Harrison - crying on the terrace. Fans at home were left furious over the conversation and aired their feelings on X: 'This is why producers shouldn't bring back previous islanders…' After the clip was shown, Blu turned to Toni and said: 'Did you see what you did to Cach?' Toni quickly responded: 'Shut the f* up, talk about situations that you've been here for.' Blu hit back: 'What you on about? I am here now, so I can speak if I want to.' Yasmin then jumped in to defend Toni, saying: 'She was upset about that though, she was crying about that too. She wasn't heartless about it — she was genuinely really upset.' After the game wrapped, Blu pulled Toni for a chat in the outside lounge. 'I don't agree with what you said,' Blu began. 'Like, I have respect for you, but if I have something to say - my opinion - and then you have your opinion, which is completely fine, why are you being hypocritical?' Toni replied: 'I just feel like you're involving yourself with something that has nothing to do with you.' Blue said: 'We're all sat around here, we all live in the same villa. I can have my own opinion - just like you always have your own opinion.' You've been outside watching it,' Toni said. 'Exactly,' Blu fired back before Toni continued: 'You know how I felt. You saw me sit there crying. When I apologised to Cach, was I not up on the terrace bawling my eyes out?' After the game wrapped, Blu pulled Toni for a chat in the outside lounge 'I don't agree with what you said,' Blu began. 'Like, I have respect for you, but if I have something to say - my opinion - and then you have your opinion, which is completely fine, why are you being hypocritical?' Toni replied: 'I just feel like you're involving yourself with something that has nothing to do with you.' '"Toni how do you feel?" - you know how I felt. I don't understand what you want.' 'You can make Cach cry and that's fine?' Blu said. Toni responded: 'Did I ever say that it was fine? Blu responded: 'You've just done the same thing.' Toni said: 'I'm not going to lie to you. I literally don't care about this conversation.' Blu dismissed her with: 'Pfft, all right... so I have the right to have my own opinion and voice my own opinion. What are you on about?' 'Go for it. I don't care,' Toni added. Blu then said: 'OK cool, so don't tell me I can't put my two pence in when you're the one always putting your f*ing 50p in.' 'I still don't get what the point here is,' Toni question. Blu replied: 'Are you trying to belittle me or something? I'm pulling you here because I genuinely think you're a nice girl and I'm trying to, like, brush it under the f*ing bridge.' Toni pushed back: 'Then why were you trying to get a reaction out of me? Did you want me to say I'm sorry again?' Blu replied: 'Can I not ask my question? I'm asking a question. So you can ask a question but I can't ask my question?' Toni said: 'But I was involved.' Blu shot back: 'What are you on about? So? I'm involved now and I can ask my question.' At that point, Toni stood up and walked away from the conversation. Blu muttered: 'You walk away when it's convenient for you to walk away - coz you know I'm fing right. Absolute fu**ing weirdo.' Jeremy Vine reveals HUGE sum Joey Barton has now paid towards his legal costs after libel battle
JEREMY Vine has revealed the huge sum former footballer Joey Barton has now paid for his legal costs after their libel battle. The BBC Radio 2 presenter, 60, had sued for libel and harassment over posts on X falsely calling him a 'big bike nonce ' and a 'paedo defender'. 2 2 He said the ex-Man City player, 42, has now paid over £500,000 for the false claims, which the Eggheads host said was a 'relief just to be vindicated'. In a statement posted on X, he said: 'Mr Barton has now paid out more than half a million pounds in my case alone.' Vine insisted, however, that he would have been fine if the former footballer had sent him £10,000 in damages in the first place. He added: 'I had no wish to be in that position and I am grateful to my lawyers in ensuring we got the final payments in today... I told Mr Barton that if he paid £10,000 total and deleted the tweets I'd forget the whole thing. It was him, not me, who decided to take the long road.' In October 2024, Barton issued public apologies and paid £110,000 in damages to the Channel 5 broadcaster after being sued for defamation and harassment. But Vine argued more should be paid to cover his legal fees. Barton's bill, according to Vine, breaks down as follows: '110k — the libel. 160k — my costs. 3.6k — interest on costs. 43k — my costs recovery action. 200k — his costs. MINIMUM £516,600.' Vine said Barton had initially agreed in court to pay for his legal fees but later disputed the amount. The broadcaster's legal team then found Barton owned his house outright and said if he had not paid the full amount, he would have had the right to evict him, become his landlord or force the sale of the house. A court hearing in London earlier this month, heard Barton had agreed to pay £160,000 of Vine's costs. Jeremy Vine forced to apologise as 'vile misogynistic' caller insults Ann Widdicombe live on air But Vine wanted a further £60,000 for costs over negotiating that sum. Suzanner Holmes, for Barton, said that the request was 'excessive' and should be reduced. But Vine's representative Kevin Latham said Barton had 'repeatedly failed to engage in proper negotiation'. The court ruled Barton should pay £43,172.20 to add to the £160,000. Neither Barton nor Vine attended the hearing in London. The feud has drawn widespread response online with many suggesting the broadcaster had gone too far with the case. One said: 'Half a million in fees over that? Seriously?' While another wrote: 'Barton's a d***, but Christ we need to change the law to stop this nonsense.'

Ozzy Osbourne sent gut-wrenching final text to Black Sabbath guitarist before his death at 76
's longtime guitarist and close friend Zakk Wylde has revealed the heartbreaking final text he received from the rock icon before his death at age 76. The legendary Black Sabbath frontman passed away last week at his home in Buckinghamshire, just weeks after giving fans an emotional farewell at his final show. Wylde first joined Ozzy's world in 1987 and remained a key figure throughout the late singer's career, weaving in and out of his band during the '90s and early 2000s before officially rejoining him in 2017 for the No More Tours II tour — Ozzy's final run. He was also by the Prince of Darkness's side during his Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2024, and again during his last-ever performance on July 5, 2025, in Birmingham, England. 'It was definitely pretty amazing. Seeing Oz onstage when Sabbath got done, that's the last time I saw him,' Wydle told Guitarist on Tuesday. Reflecting on the final time they spoke, Wylde added, 'Everybody and their mother were in the backstage dressing room and I just wanted to give him a break. I figured we'd see him later on – the next day or whatever. But no. 'The last text I got from Oz was saying, "Zakky, sorry, it was like a madhouse back there. I didn't see you." He goes, "Thanks for everything." It was just us talking, saying, "I love you, buddy." That was it.' Wylde went on to reflect on their decades-long bond, describing Ozzy as more than just a musical partner. 'Oz was just the best,' he said. 'I have my father, who was a World War II veteran; and then Ozzy, who was almost like an older brother. There was almost a 20-year age gap between us. With our relationship, there was the fun drinking – but if I ever needed advice, I could talk to him.' Despite their playful dynamic, Wylde said that when it came to making music, everything just clicked. 'It felt natural with Oz. Very rarely would things turn into a math equation, where you needed a manual to figure out a part. If that starts it's probably not going to happen.' He also recalled their instant chemistry when they first met — and how Ozzy's personality made him easy to connect with. 'It was – with all your friends in your life, lions attract lions, you know? And the hyenas you hang out with, that sorts itself out later! But Ozzy was the easiest-going, warmest guy. He was so easy to get along with.' Over the years, Wylde said Ozzy wasn't just a mentor, but a source of wisdom when life got messy. Meanwhile, Ozzy's grieving widow Sharon was surrounded by her children and thousands of devoted fans as she laid a single rose during an emotional farewell in Birmingham on Wednesday 'You're always gonna learn along the way. You trust somebody, then you get screwed on a business deal or whatever. And when anything would happen, Oz would be like, 'Oh, Zakk, I remember with Sabbath, this or that…' Things about thinking someone was a good guy, and they end up screwing you over. 'All of us live and learn on our own too, but Oz would always be there. He'd poke me in the eye and I'd be like, 'What was that for?' He'd say, 'Life's tough, that's why!' I'd go, 'Yeah, but I really didn't need that.' He'd go, 'Whatever – go make me a sandwich, and go light on the Coleman's!'' Meanwhile, Ozzy's grieving widow Sharon was surrounded by her children and thousands of devoted fans as she laid a single rose during an emotional farewell in Birmingham on Wednesday. The music legend was honored with a moving funeral procession through his hometown, where the cortege made a solemn stop at Black Sabbath Bridge — a symbolic site that quickly became a sea of flowers, tributes, and heartfelt cheers. Sharon stood alongside Ozzy's children — Jack, Kelly, and Aimee — as well as his eldest son Louis, from his first marriage to Thelma Riley. Together, they placed floral offerings and raised peace signs to the crowd, visibly touched by the outpouring of love. A live brass band, Bostin' Brass, led the cortege through the streets, playing stirring renditions of Black Sabbath classics like Iron Man, while emotional fans wept, clapped, and sang every word. Mourners had lined the route hours before the 1 p.m. start time, determined to say goodbye to the Prince of Darkness — the voice behind Paranoid, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, and a legacy that will echo forever.
