Matt Rife's Makeup Ad Sparks Outrage With People Who Remember His Domestic Abuse Jokes
'Is Matt Rife here to sell us concealer for black eyes from domestic violence?' read one comment with over 10,000 likes.
In the ad, Rife plays fictional injury lawyer 'E.l.f.ino,' alongside partner 'Schmarnes,' depicted by drag performer Heidi N Closet. The commercial was an obvious reference to attorneys Cellino & Barnes, whose ads were often seen in the Tri-State Area during the 2000s.
'Hey girl. Has over-priced beauty hurt your wallet?' Rife says in the parody. 'I know a thing or two about red flags. And pricey makeup? You deserve better than that.'
Despite the ad's fun tone, e.l.f. fans were not having it. Viewers were quick to bring up misogynistic bits from the comedian's 2023 Netflix special 'Matt Rife: Natural Selection.' At one point in the special, he joked about a woman receiving a black eye for not cooking well.
Following backlash at the time, the comedian offered a stale apology, then told a 6-year-old that the boy's mom bought his Christmas presents with money she earned from OnlyFans.
The many commenters attacking the e.l.f. ad for featuring Rife included some beauty influencers with massive followings.

'ELF IMMA HOLD UR HAND WHEN I SAY THIS…just cuz u got a drag QUEEN in the mix DOES NOT MEAN ITS A GREEN LIGHT FOR MATT RIFEEEGEE??!?,' @kristians_makeup said on Instagram.
Many TikTok users posted their own videos expressing their disbelief over Rife's cameo. One called the ad campaign a 'slap in the face,' while another showed someone throwing out their e.l.f. products.
That said, when Rife posted the ad on his own Instagram account, his fans praised him.
Rife's e.l.f. ad comes weeks after American Eagle faced scrutiny over its Sydney Sweeney jeans campaign, which some people said promoted white supremacy. Regardless of the original intent, American Eagle's campaign became a cultural debate as right-wingers and MAGA officials commended Sweeney and the ad.
Some questioned why Rife, who is not known for making beauty content, is featured in the commercial at all.
Australian beauty influencer Jill Clark, who has hundreds of thousands of followers, said she is officially pulling her support for e.l.f., stating 'I stand with women, period.'
'Did nobody sit there and say, 'Hey, in 2025 when there is an absolute epidemic of violence against women, let's not choose to have the face of our campaign be a man who jokes about domestic violence. Let's not platform Matt Rife,' Clark said in a video garnering over 160,000 likes.

Colorado YouTuber Basho & Friends releases new educational album for kids
What started out as a small venture has grown into 175,000 YouTube subscribers for a content creator in Colorado. He's teaching kids new words and different languages. Boulder native Basho Mosko has been making fun educational music for kids for over a decade. "I was teaching a mommy and me kind of Spanish course, and they didn't have good materials," Mosko said. "And I was like, 'I can help you make materials.' So I started writing songs that taught languages and put them on YouTube." In the YouTube world, he's known as Basho and Friends. Mosko is completely self-taught and does most of his work right here in Colorado. "I'll do a lot of the scratch tracks here. I'll lay stuff out. I'll punch some stuff out and sort of set a framework for it. And then my producer lives in Brass Valley, California," Mosko explained. Mosko's content has garnered more than 100 million views across platforms, and, while his songs are pretty catchy, Basho and Friends remains a passion project. "This isn't my full-time job," Mosko said. "I have a job at Google doing a broadcast production." Making a difference in a kids' lives, including his own, is what keeps Mosko going. "I had a couple of parents actually emailed me saying that their kids were non-verbal, or they were working with disabilities, and singing my songs was one of the first ways that they started producing language," Mosko shared. Now, the popular YouTuber for kids is dropping a new album with new meaning. It's called "A Way to Be," and it was released Friday on Spotify, YouTube and other platforms where music lives. "With this album, it was going to be another one of those 20 things you need to learn before kids start kindergarten," Mosko said. "But it kind of evolved into something more personal about 20 things that make you a good person. You know that kids around the world universally can learn about and perfect in order to be positive contributors to the world."

Cena has been a part of the WWE since his 2002 debut and recently shared that his body has taken a toll. In an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Cena went over his early beginnings in the WWE. Fallon played clips of his first match in 2002 against Kurt Angle. The WWE rookie lost the match but he was impressed with his "ruthless aggression" and wanted more. He also made fun of himself as he observed himself in the ring, "Look at the haircut," he said. As he nears retirement, Cena shared that he rarely plans things because even the first match with Kurt Angle was not supposed to happen. "That clip you saw was by mistake. The Undertaker was sick," he said. "No kidding. I've just always kind of been reliable and showing up and doing whatever I'm asked. And I really want this tour to be not only special — it'll always be special for me because you guys are out there. I want it to be special for the business. My goal has always been to leave WWE better than I found it." The WWE legend has 11 more matches before he says goodbye to the ring. "So very rarely do we have time to look in the rear view mirror. And now that I'm in the farewell tour, the last thing I want to do is start dwelling on moments that might've been in January," he continued. "I'm going to look at the rear view and reflect on all this, but I want to have my feet on the ground and enjoy all the moments that the audience gives me for these last 11 (matches)." Cena shared that "every part of me" wants "more time on the clock" but his body is "screaming" at him to let this part of his life go.
