Anti-ageing serum containing ‘La Mer-like' ingredients has users looking younger
Shoppers are praising this youth-boosting Debenhams serum that plumps and rejuvenates skin, saying that it gives 'such a great improvement' in less than a month
Nowadays there is seemingly endless skincare launching that promises to turn back the clock on skin ageing, but we've found one formula that's been working 'magic' (according to shoppers) for over 20 years – and could be a good alternative to super pricey skincare.
Elizabeth Grant's Supreme Essence of Torricelumn is a bestselling serum that contains sea-sourced minerals as well as coenzyme Q-10, collagen, vitamins A, C and E, and plant stem cells. This sounds similar to La Mer's iconic line of skincare products, which included its trademark 'miracle broth', a complex contains, amongst other things, giant sea kelp extract. Whereas a 50ml bottle of La Mer The Concentrate costs a whopping £545, however, Elizabeth Grant's essence instead costs £70 from Debenhams.
This Debenhams serum is designed to tackle five signs of skin ageing in as little as 14-28 days, the brand claims: dehydration, fine lines and wrinkles, dullness, redness and uneven skin tone. This is thanks to the key ingredient Torricelumn, which customers are calling "magical" and "fantastic":
"Amazing product!" one person called the ingredient. "I've been using Elizabeth Grant Torricelumn for almost 20 years. I am frequently asked why my skin is so fresh looking. My age is also often misjudged as being much younger. Who doesn't love that?"
"So moisturising. Love the products. Skin feels and looks great. Reduces fine lines," another review reads.
A third person said of the serum as a whole: "Incredible! I started using this product just under a month ago and have seen such a great improvement on my skin and face. I highly recommend this product, and worth the price."
Elizabeth Grant says that this hero product can be used "as a hydration booster, to heal a sunburn or as an anti-ageing serum", and so we'd use it morning and night after cleansing and before moisturiser and SPF. If you're looking for tried and tested recommendations for the later two, we're currently loving Medik8 Total Moisture Daily Facial Cream, £48, and Ultra Violette Future Fluid SPF50+ Superlight Mineral Skinscreen, £38.
Another youth-boosting serum that harnesses the powers of algae is Elemis Pro-Collagen Renewal Serum, currently reduced from £75 to £60, while a cheaper serum to consider is L'Oréal Paris Age Perfect Serum Le Duo with Collagen Peptides, £37.99, which features a collagen peptide booster on one side and a glow-boosting blend of vitamins B3 and C on the other.

One review that hailed it as a "must have" read: "I can't believe I waited so long to get this face massager! From the very first use, I felt an immediate difference in my skin. The gentle vibrations and soothing warmth help relieve tension, promote circulation, and leave my face feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. "Not only has it improved my skincare routine by helping my serums absorb better, but I've also noticed a visible reduction in puffiness and fine lines. The design is sleek, easy to use, and perfect for an at-home spa experience. It's like giving yourself a mini facial every day!" Beauty deal of the week It's almost Father's Day, and are you in need of some gift inspiration? If you don't want to buy a last minute gift, then we have you covered, as a bottle of aftershave is always a good shout and Debenhams has just cut the Yves Saint Laurent L'Homme Eau De Toilette from £92 to just £55.20 for a large 100ml bottle. There is also a smaller 60ml bottle that is a bit cheaper, with the price being reduced by 37 per cent from £68 to £43. Since reviews say it "stands out from the crowd", it's a deal worth bagging for dad. Launched in 2006, this YSL fragrance has been described as "a fragrance for the urban and charismatic 21st century male". For the guy in your life who likes to smell a little different, then this is the bottle to reach for. It opens on sparkling notes of bergamot, zesty cedarwood and Chinese ginger that has been met with the middle notes of violet leaves and basil flowers, offering a floral and spicy contrast. It is said to end on base notes of sandalwood, Virginia cedar wood and Haitian vetiver to "highlight this charismatic and magnetic fragrance." Those who want to stand out from the crowd will appreciate the YSL L'Homme Eau De Toilette, as it has earned a 4.7 rating from Debenhams fragrance buffs who have said it is "unusual" and "always gets compliments." One positive review read: "An unusual and outstanding men's perfume! What an interesting fresh yet a hint of spice men's perfume! It's different. Stands out from the crowd. Purchase the Yves Saint Laurent L'Homme Eau De Toilette (100ml) in the Debenhams sale here. A second shopper praised: "This facial massaged is amazing. It deeply massages the muscles and tissue in your face, neck and jaw line. Three different settings enables targeting rejuvenation of red, green and blue light therapy. Quality product that I'm very happy with. Neck and jaw appear sculpted. I would highly recommend this product." Someone else agreed: "Ordered this item being sceptical at first but thought I'd give it a try and so glad I did. I used it for five minutes on the day off arrival and it was clear to see which side of my face I'd done. It instantly lifts and firms and skin feels so soft. I used it with my serum, what a wonderful product it is. II worked out how to use the different settings which is easy with the instruction leaflet. I will use it everyday now, don't hesitate to purchase it." There has been some criticism over the battery life, as one disappointed shopper said: "Effective but battery life is 10 mins. I am not sure if I have been sent a faulty machine -but I use this machine twice -am and pm (10 minutes each) and I am finding that I have to charge it 2 times a day for it to last 2 sessions a day." Meanwhile, a more positive review read: "Since using this product 4 weeks my face is more lifted and youthful. My facial creams absorb greatly. Please do try this product. It does what it says you will not be disappointed." Purchase the Facial Massager Lifting Device on Amazon for £22.94 here.

Four ways you can use your kitchen scraps to help your plants grow
Plus scroll down to find out how you can save on a fan for the summer SUN SAVERS Four ways you can use your kitchen scraps to help your plants grow DON'T bin you kitchen scraps – use them to get your garden blooming. From tea leaves to egg shells, your waste items can give your plants a boost. Here's how . . . BANANA PEEL: Skin from bananas can be give plants a natural potassium boost which helps when flowers are forming, according to David Denyer, from He said: 'Bake your banana peels at a low temperature for a few hours, then either blend or grind them into a fine powder. 'Mix the powder into your soil to provide a slow, steady release of nutrients that can really make a difference to plants such as dahlias, calendula or cosmos.' EGGSHELLS: You can support repeat bloomers such as petunias and geraniums with old eggshells. Grind them into a fine powder and soak in vinegar for 24 hours, says David. Once the solution has cooled, you can pour it around the base of your flowering plants. RINSE WATER: When washing dried pulses such as lentils and chickpeas, save the water rather than pouring it down the drain. Then use it to tip on plants to give soil a gentle drink. David says: 'It contains natural starches and minerals from the legumes, which feed the helpful microbes in your soil. "These help unlock nutrients like phosphorus and potassium that plants need to stay healthy and flower well.' TEA LEAVES: Acid-loving plants such as roses, hydrangeas and azaleas will appreciate used tea leaves for a health boost. They contain small amounts of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, which lightly lower the soil pH. This makes it easier for certain plants to absorb nutrients that help deepen petal colour. David adds: 'Sprinkle the damp tea leaves directly on to the soil around your plants and gently water them in. "Just make sure there's no milk or sugar, as that can attract pests or lead to mould in your soil.' 7 We have four ways you can use your kitchen scraps to help your plants grow Credit: Getty Aldi is selling a cheap $2.19 item in the 'finds aisle' that will transform your garden into a colorful summer paradise All prices on page correct at time of going to press.
