Awaiting trial prisoner rearrested in Limpopo after three months on the run
An escaped prisoner is back in custody after about three months on the run.
He and an alleged accomplice were arrested for the possession of stolen property and an unlicensed firearm.
Police also confiscated an unlicensed firearm and suspected stolen cellphone.

He was arrested along with an alleged accomplice.
According to police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, police detectives at the Burgersfort Investigating Unit arrested the two men, both aged 34, at a rented property in Ga-Manyaka village.
They are expected to appear in court on Monday.
'The members who were on standby duties received information about the location of the awaiting trial prisoner who escaped from the cells during March,' said Ledwaba.
'They accurately followed the leads, whereby the suspect - aged 34 - was arrested at the rented residence at Ga-Manyaka village. During the arrest, he was with his friend.'
Police searched the property and discovered an unlicensed firearm and suspected stolen cellphone.
'The cellphone was linked with an armed robbery that was reported during this month. Both suspects were then apprehended,' Ledwaba added.

The escapee had previously been arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and armed robbery.
This comes after a manhunt was launched in February for four awaiting trial prisoners who escaped from holding cells at the Northam police station in Limpopo.
In addition, News24 previously reported that a manhunt was launched for an inmate who escaped from Pollsmoor Prison while he was part of a work team carrying out maintenance on the facility's grounds. He was serving a six-month sentence for theft and trespassing.
That escape came shortly after an incident in Cape Town in December, when a detainee escaped while being transported to Pollsmoor Prison.
The man reportedly escaped through the roof of the prison transport vehicle he was travelling in.
Also in December, four men escaped from the Swartruggens police station's holding cells in the North West. The detainees escaped after forcing their exit through the roof of the cell they were in.

Learner driver allegedly caught breaking four road rules at once
A learner driver has had his licence suspended after he was allegedly caught breaking four rules at once on Queensland's most dangerous highway. The 31-year-old man was spotted at around 10.30pm on Sunday night by officers who alleged that he was driving at 123km/h in an 80km/h zone on the Bruce Highway in Cairns. When officers approached the car to question the alleged speeding, things quickly took a turn for the worse. Police allege there were no L-plates on display, and claim the supervisor in the passenger seat had a disqualified licence. In Queensland, learner drivers must be accompanied by a driver with an open licence for the same type of vehicle that is being driven. They need to have had that licence for at least one year. The driver was then subjected to a roadside breath test, where police allege it returned a positive result and was later recorded as a BAC of 0.207 per cent. Learner drivers must have a BAC of zero. The man's licence was suspended and he was hit with four charges: Disobeying the speed limit, did drive under the influence of liquor, learning to drive must be properly supervised-motor vehicles other than motorbikes, and learner must not drive motor vehicle unless L plates displayed and clearly legible. He's due to face Cairns Magistrates Court on July 8. The Bruce Highway, which stretches from Cairns to Brisbane, is home to all of the state's top five crash sites. It's ranked third in Australia's most crash-prone roads. Earlier this month, another L-plater was hit with a whopping $1,775 in fines and 22 demerit points after getting pulled over for speeding on the Hume Highway near Penrose in NSW. The male driver was caught driving 39km/h over the speed limit, while also using his phone and not displaying L-plates. The incident took place on the June long weekend, while double demerits were in force, leaving him automatically suspended from driving with a pending extension from NSW Transport. Free State man charged with murder after wife's body found in bathtub
A Free State man was arrested after his wife was found murdered in their bathtub in Riverside, Phuthaditjhaba. The incident occurred on Thursday, 20 June, at about 16:00. The 41-year-old woman's son found her body after he noticed signs of 'a violent altercation' last Thursday. According to police spokesperson, Captain Loraine Earle, the 45-year-old man is expected to appear in the Phuthaditjhaba Magistrate's Court on Monday on a charge of murder. 'Police were alerted to a possible murder, and upon arrival, were met by the deceased's son, who led officers to the bathroom where the woman's lifeless body was found in a bathtub,' said Earle. She said the victim had a visible deep open wound to the head. 'The son, who does not reside at the home, stated that he had come to visit his mother and, upon finding the house locked, forced entry through the kitchen door.' Inside, he discovered signs of a violent altercation, including a broken mirror, bloodstains on the walls and running water from the bathroom. He alerted a neighbour, who contacted the police. The victim's husband, who was not at the scene, later contacted police and disclosed his location. He was arrested shortly afterwards. The alleged murder weapon was recovered and has been confiscated, Earle said.

Murder investigation launched after death of man found 'unresponsive'
A murder investigation has been launched after a man was found 'unresponsive' at a property. Three people - a man and two women - have been arrested. Police rushed to Peridot Close in Blackburn, Lancashire, at 3.40am on Sunday (June 22) after receiving a report from the ambulance service that a man was unresponsive. Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, the man, who has now been named as 37-year-old Paul Scott, was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives said Mr Scott's next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
