Time of Indiaa day ago
I arranged twelve scenes around a central orb, representing the astrological houses under a mystical nightscape.
A birth chart is divided into
12
Bhavas
or houses. Each house represents a specific area of life, and the planets and zodiac signs within them describe the nature and experiences you will have in that realm.
The houses provide the context for a planet's energy and show where and how that energy will manifest in your life.
The
First House
is the
house of self
. It's governed by your rising sign (Lagna) and represents your physical body, personality, and life path. The
Second House
is the house of wealth, family, and speech. It governs your finances, assets, and how you communicate. The
Third House
is the house of communication and siblings. It rules your courage, short-distance travel, and personal hobbies. The
Fourth House
is the house of home, mother, and happiness. It signifies your emotional well-being, domestic life, and property. The
Fifth House
is the house of creativity and children. It governs your education, romance, and intelligence. The
Sixth House
is the house of health and service. It rules your daily work, obstacles, and conflicts.
The
Seventh House
is the house of partnerships. It governs marriage, business partners, and your relationships with others. The
Eighth House
is the house of transformation and longevity. It rules sudden changes, inheritance, and deeper psychological matters. The
Ninth House
is the house of fortune and spirituality. It governs your beliefs, higher education, and long-distance travel. The
Tenth House
is the house of career and public image. It represents your professional path, status, and worldly ambitions. The
Eleventh House
is the house of gains and community. It governs your friends, social network, and income. Finally, the
Twelfth House
is the house of loss and spiritual liberation. It rules your expenses, isolation, and subconscious mind. Together, these twelve houses create a complete picture of your life's journey.

Pola festivities: Farmers pamper bulls for year-long toil on farm

Nagpur: Pola, the festival to express gratitude to farm bulls, is almost like Diwali for farmers, who insist that even in the age of modern technology, there is no alternative to bulls in farming. Today, Pola will be celebrated everywhere with bull pairs being worshipped and offered puranpoli as prasad. For agriculturists, Pola holds extraordinary significance, with preparations beginning a month in advance to purchase decorative materials for the bulls. On this occasion, these animals that work in the fields are given three days of rest. On all three days, the bulls are taken to the river and bathed. On the morning of Pola, their horns are painted and auspicious swastika symbols are drawn on their bodies. They are adorned with silk drapes, ankle bells, garlands of bells around their necks, flower garlands, colourful balloons, and a bel leaf is tied after applying the decorations. Kajal is applied to their eyes and a black mark behind their ears to ward off the evil eye. The decorated bulls are paraded through the village with drums and cymbals. In every village, Pola is celebrated in front of the Maruti temple or on the riverbank. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Seniors Born 1939-1969 Receive 16 Benefits This Month If They Ask Super Saving Online Undo The Pola begins with Mahadev songs, with all chanting 'Harbola Harhar Mahadev'. Afterwards, the bel leaf tied on the bulls' foreheads is offered at the Mahadev temple or in the river. On Thursday, the day before Pola, all bulls get a special shoulder massage, kneading away the strain from carrying ploughs and yokes on their shoulders all through the year. In rural areas, this day is also called 'Khandmardan'. Turmeric is applied by hand on the bulls' shoulders. Then butter is applied on peepal leaf stems, heated over a lamp, and used to give a warm compress to the bulls' shoulder. The bulls are also invited for the special feast for them on Pola day. Shravan Khobragade, a resident of Champa village near Saoner, is an expert on decorating and preparing bulls before Pola. He charges Rs500 to shape horns, Rs300 for trimming hooves/nails, Rs400 for cutting tail and ear hair, Rs600 for piercing nose and ears of young bulls, and Rs200 for oiling and combing show bulls. There has been a good crowd at the shop since a month before Pola, said Khobragade. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI). ‘Urdu never confined to any religion'

Lucknow: Urdu was never confined to any religion, but served as a common language for the people in Lucknow, said Nawab Masood Abdullah at a programme for the awareness of the city's linguistic and cultural heritage titled 'Tehzeeb aur Zubaan'. The event — organised by the social awareness group Adaab Arz Lucknow at the Press Club on Thursday — featured noted speakers, including Nawab Masood Abdullah, Urdu scholar Mohsin Khan, and Sajida Saba. The programme was conducted by Dr Sabra Habib. Warning that the tradition of reading and writing in Urdu was fading with the increasing dominance of English and Hindi, Abdullah said: "It is the need of the hour to preserve our language. " Iffat Khan, founder of Adaab Arz Lucknow, said, "Zubaan (language) and tehzeeb (mannerism) is a medium that moulds the past, present and future." She stressed how languages evolved with the needs of society. Mohsin Khan read excerpts from his books, while Poet Sajida Saba sang her self-composed Urdu ghazals, which won appreciation from the audience. tnn Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI).
