"Something Special": Chris Gayle On Potential Reunion With Virat Kohli, AB De Villiers In This League
Asked about a potential appearance by Kohli in the Legends League alongside him and AB de Villiers, Gayle added, 'That would be something special. Fans would love that.'
Reflecting on WCL 2025, Gayle candidly admitted, 'We made some mistakes this season that cost us a place in the semis. But we'll be back stronger next year. This was a great experience, and the mission now is to come back with a bang in WCL 2026.'
Ajay Sethi, owner of the West Indies Champions, backed the sentiment, stating, 'Wins and losses are part of the game. I'll sit with Chris and plan new strategies for next season. Every edition teaches us something new, and we are committed to a serious title run in 2026.'
The two-week tournament in England ended with South Africa Champions lifting the trophy, thanks to AB de Villiers, who shone with a sensational century as South Africa Champions outplayed Pakistan Champions by nine wickets to clinch their maiden WCL title.
With the promise of a bigger, bolder return and hopes of a Kohli–Gayle–ABD reunion, WCL fans across the globe now have their eyes set on 2026. One thing is certain - the legends aren't done yet.

"When I Saw Friends Playing With Their Kids...": Shikhar Dhawan's Tear-Jerking Post
Former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan's latest Instagram post has moved fans across the world. Sharing a series of heartwarming, previously unseen pictures with his son, the cricketer reflected on fatherhood, distance, and the little moments that never quite leave us. Dhawan captioned the post, "WCL mein jab doston ko apne kids ke saath khelte dekha bas ek thought aaya, wish Zora was here. It would've been a different kind of joy. Later, I came across some of his childhood photos... and suddenly, all those memories came rushing back. Some moments really do stay closest to the heart." These words, simple yet stirring, carried the weight of longing and the tenderness of a father missing his son. The post wasn't about cricket, victories, or fame; it was about a quiet ache and the memories that live on even in silence. Among the images shared, one stood out, a beautiful capture of Shikhar with Rohit Sharma, his daughter Samaira, and little Zoraver. A rare, sunlit memory frozen in time, a reminder of a simpler moment, of bonds that go beyond the game. While the World Championship of Legends has come to an end, this post by Dhawan stayed with fans far beyond the final match. It offered a window into the life of a father who has always worn his heart on his sleeve, whether on the pitch or off it. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Shikhar Dhawan (@shikhardofficial) In an age where social media is often filled with filtered moments, this post felt refreshingly real. A cricketer, a national icon, pausing to say: "I miss my son." (Except for the headline, this story has not been edited by NDTV staff and is published from a syndicated feed.)

India-Pakistan Asia Cup Clash To Go As Planned? UAE Official Breaks Silence
India and Pakistan have been at loggerheads ever since the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam in April, in which 26 people, mostly civilians, were killed. As a result, the cricketing relations between the two countries have also nose-dived. Recently, two World Championship of Legends (WCL) fixtures between the two countries were called off as the India Champions players decided not to play against their Pakistan counterparts. Similarly, the fate of the upcoming Asia Cup fixture between India and Pakistan also hangs in the balance. India and Pakistan are scheduled to face off in Dubai on September 14, with a possibility of the teams facing off in the Super 4s stage and the final. With just over a month remaining for the start of the tournament, Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) Chief Operating Officer Subhan Ahmed has suggested that it is highly unlikely that the two teams would avoid playing each other in the Asia Cup. "While I cannot give a formal guarantee, there is no risk of Pakistan and India not playing. The Asia Cup cannot be compared to private tournaments like the World Championship of Legends, where India refused to play against Pakistan in both the league stage and semi-final," Subhan Ahmed told the reporters recently. Dubai and Abu Dhabi have been confirmed as official host cities for 2025 Men's T20 Asia Cup, set to happen from September 9 to 28. Dubai will host 11 games, including the final, while Abu Dhabi will host eight matches. India will play its Group A games against UAE and the high-stakes clash against Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 10 and 14 respectively, while its clash against Oman is slated to happen at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on September 19.
