Each food plate at Chowmahalla Palace costs ₹8,200 not ₹1 lakh: Tourism Minister addresses allegations on Miss World contest

Only ₹30 crore was spent for the Miss World 2025 beauty pageant, with Telangana government's spending only ₹9 crore and the balance ₹21 crore was paid by sponsors, said Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao challenging the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders K.T. Rama Rao and T. Harish Rao to prove the allegation that ₹200 crore was spent for the contest. At a press conference held at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat in Hyderabad on Tuesday (June 3, 2025), the Minister condemned the allegations by Miss England 2024 Milla Magee that she was subjected to inappropriate behaviour. Mr. Rao said that 'there is no truth in her allegations'. If the contestants were indeed made to feel uncomfortable, as alleged by Ms. Milla Magee, the other contestants would not stayed till the end, he said. He refuted another allegation that the contestants were given 30 tolas of gold. The contestants were taken to Chowmahalla Palace on May 13 where they had dinner. The Tourism Minister said that each plate of food there costs ₹8,200 but not ₹1 lakh.
