Blue Harbor Acquires U.S. Distribution Rights to Historical Biopic ‘Audrey's Children' (EXCLUSIVE)

Yahoo07-02-2025
Blue Harbor Entertainment has acquired the Stateside distribution rights to Ami Canaan Mann's 'Audrey's Children,' which will be released nationwide March 28. Based on a true story, the historical drama stars Natalie Dormer as British physician Dr. Audrey Evans, who 'burst onto the scene in 1969 as the first female Chief of Oncology at the world-renowned Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.'
According to the film's synopsis, 'Audrey's Children' follows Evans as she 'battles sexism, medical conventions, and the subterfuge of her peers,' eventually developing the first Neuroblastoma Staging System, co-founding the first Ronald McDonald House for families of patients, and impacting the lives of millions of children around the world. After years of collaborating and supporting the film, Evans died two weeks into the start of physical production.

'Dr. Evans was a force of nature, determined and tenacious. And always with the well-being of children at the forefront of everything she did,' said Mann. 'She's a lodestar, really, of how to walk through the world. And when I learned about her journey, I thought, 'Yes, this is a story I need to help tell.''
'When 'Audrey's Children' came my way, I was shocked that Dr. Evans wasn't already a household name,' said Dormer. 'Her influence rippled across the world, touching millions of lives. Playing such an extraordinary woman was an honor I couldn't pass up and I knew I had to take on the role immediately.'
Dormer stars alongside a supporting cast that includes Jimmi Simpson, Clancy Brown and Brandon Micheal Hall. Julia Fisher Farbman of Emblem Entertainment wrote the screenplay for the film and produced with Amasia Entertainment's Bradley Gallo and Michael Helfant. Executive producers include Susan Cartsonis, Suzanne Farwell, Brent Emery and Clément Bauer of Resonate Entertainment and Michael Leahy of Strike Accord.
'Audrey's Children' was produced with 'passionate support' from the Ronald McDonald House Charities and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, according to producers.

Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi announce they've adopted their first child

LOS ANGELES — Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi adopted a daughter, the first child for the married couple, this summer, they announced Thursday. 'We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy,' the couple wrote in a social media statement. No further details were released. Brown, 21, and Bongiovi, 23, were married in a private ceremony in May 2024. Representatives for Brown and Bongiovi did not immediately respond to The Associated Press' request for comment. Brown gained recognition for her starring role as Eleven in the Duffer brothers' sci-fi series 'Stranger Things.' The fifth and final season will air this November and December, a culmination of nine years of the show's production. The British actor has pursued other acting and business ventures in that time, including the Netflix original 'Enola Holmes' films and a 'Godzilla' film. She even released a romance book in 2023. Bongiovi is the son of Jon Bon Jovi, founder and frontman of the rock band Bon Jovi. Bongiovi debuted his own acting career as the star in 'Rockbottom,' which released last year. Brown stressed the importance of family during the 2024 premiere of her Netflix film 'Damsel,' where Bongiovi and his parents were in attendance. 'I'm just so lucky that they're here tonight and it just means so much to me,' Brown told The Associated Press then. 'Family is everything and just to have my second family here means everything.' The couple lives in Georgia. She recently told the AP she enjoys living on a farm, largely disconnected from social media, while promoting her 2025 Netflix film 'The Electric State.'

Golden Gate Park to host another major concert following back-to-back shows

Shortly after Golden Gate Park hosted three consecutive weekends of live music, plans for yet another show at the San Francisco landmark were announced. R&B artist Khalid plans to headline a concert at Robin Williams Meadow on Oct. 11, with support from San Francisco-born pop singer Lauv and British singer-songwriter Flowerovlove. The show will offer Bay Area fans a first listen to Khalid's new album, 'After The Sun Goes Down,' which is slated to release a day prior. Khalid's upcoming fall concert will be held during the day, beginning at 3 p.m. and potentially preventing noise from bothering nearby residents late into the night. It will follow the 25th anniversary edition of Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, set for Oct. 3-5, and is being organized by Dogpatch music venue, the Midway. Ticket presales begin at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25. General on sale starts at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26. This upcoming performance follows Dead & Company 's sold-out run at the park's Polo Field on Aug. 1-3, Outside Lands on Aug. 8-10 and country star Zack Bryan 's concert on Friday, Aug. 15. The trio of events generated an estimated $150 million in economic activity for the city, part of Mayor Daniel Lurie's plan to infuse life back into the city through the arts. 'Our city came together for three safe and fun weekends in Golden Gate Park celebrating San Francisco,' Lurie said in a statement on Monday, Aug. 18. 'Arts and culture are helping to drive our city's comeback.' However, they drew complaints from neighbors in the Richmond and Sunset districts that border the park, with many expressing frustrations over traffic congestion, limited parking, noise and litter. Nonetheless, the city's live music momentum is set to continue with two free downtown concerts: Poolside on Sept. 7 in Union Square and Shaboozey at Civic Center on Sept. 13. Continuing downtown's revitalization efforts, EDM artist Fisher is set to perform at Moscone Center Dec. 19-20, marking the complex's first show of its kind.
