Broncos Trade Pitch Sends Cardinals Pro-Bowl Running Back to Denver
The Denver Broncos went into the 2025 offseason with clear needs. After a busy free agency, there are still needs on offense. One of those needs is at running back, and this trade pitch looks to fill that need.
For this mock trade, the Broncos and the Arizona Cardinals make a deal, sending star running back James Conner to Denver. In a trade for Conner, the Broncos likely won't have to give up too much for him, as Conner is about to be 30 years old.

Denver has Audric Estime and Jaleel McLaughlin on the roster, but neither has shown enough to be lead-backs in the NFL. Conner would come in and take over the majority of the workload, with Estime and McLaughlin spelling him.
Conner is under contract for the 2025 and 2026 seasons and would be able to help Bo Nix by giving him a Pro Bowl running back with plenty of starting experience.

The 2025 NFL Draft has a lot of great running backs, and Denver could go one as early as the first round. But, adding Conner would allow the Broncos to be flexible on draft night.
Denver could still go for a running back early, but Conner would allow the Broncos not to feel forced into taking one if there is another player on the board they want.

The flexibility in the draft is good business, as the Broncos wouldn't be pressured into taking a player earlier than they should go.
This trade pitch of Conner heading to the Broncos is a great move for Denver. Adding a Conner makes a lot of sense for all parties involved. Getting help for Nix is important, and Conner would be a quarterback friendly addition to the offense for the next two seasons.

New York Jets Rookie Named Draft-Day Steal After OTAs
New York Jets Rookie Named Draft-Day Steal After OTAs originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The New York Jets may have found something in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. The Jets selected Georgia wideout Arian Smith, who has been the talk of the town at Jets OTAs. Advertisement New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn has given high praise to his rookie wideout. "Arian has some juice, don't he?" Glenn said. "He can run and he's bouncy. He's a really good athlete. I thought the first day he went out there and was really focused on making sure that [he] sees through the ball to bring it in." Smith could be the right fit to pair alongside star receiver Garrett Wilson is he continues to impress the coaching staff. Smith's standout trait is his speed, posting a 4.36 40-time at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine. Smith wasn't just a football player for the Bulldogs. The former four-star football recruit committed to Georgia as a two-sport athlete, running track and field on top of his responsibility on the gridiron. Advertisement Smith was a first-team All-American selection for track and field in 2021, with his specialty being the 100-meter dash. Smith retired from track and field in 2023, and received a much bigger role in Georgia's offense the following season, leading the team with 817 receiving yards in 2024, while also adding four touchdowns. Smith's performance at OTAs and his physical traits have led to high praise from not just the coaching staff, but also the press. Bleacher Report's Brent Sobleski tabbed Smith as the draft-day steal at wide receiver after OTAs, high praise for a Day-3 pick. "Raw speed is so tantalizing, because it can be weaponized to tilt the field in the oense's favor. Defenses must take stock of a real speedster on every down and consistently defend all three levels." Sobleski wrote. "Smith has that caliber of speed. He needs to show throughout the summer that he can make the plays available to him. If he does, the Jets will have the type of weapon that should play well with an athletic quarterback in Justin Fields since the defense must account for him running at all times." New Report Suggests Bad News for New York Jets' Breece Hall
New Report Suggests Bad News for New York Jets' Breece Hall originally appeared on Athlon Sports. There's a new sheriff in town for the New York Jets, with first year head coach Aaron Glenn taking over. Glenn formerly served as the defensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions, and it seems as though Glenn is taking some of his Detroit philosophies to New York, which could scream bad news for running back Breece Hall. Advertisement Albert Breer has high hopes for the Jets' offense, but, the way he sees it happening may not work out in Hall's best interests. "The situation there, I think, is better than people realize. The offensive line, behind young tackles Olu Fashanu and Armand Membou, has a shot to be really good." Breer wrote. "The run game, behind Breece Hall and Braelon Allen, should benefit, and get (Justin) Fields in manageable down-and-distance situations consistently. And he's got built-in chemistry with Garrett Wilson, having played together at Ohio State." While the inclusion of second-year back Braelon Allen there doesn't initially mark Hall's situation as bad, Breer later doubled down, saying he believes Allen's role will be "pretty significant." "I mentioned Braelon Allen above." Breer noted. "I think his role in the Jets offense, alongside Hall, could be pretty significant." Advertisement The Lions have deployed a committee approach to their backfield for years to the tune of great success, and it seems as though Glenn will be holding on to that philosophy. Glenn previously stated that the Jets may use such an approach with as many as three running backs, If Breer's report hold trues, the split between Hall and Allen may be much closer to the tune of a 50-50 split than it was last season. Allen took just 92 carries in his rookie campaign, compared to Hall's 209. Hall averaged more yards per carry (4.2, compared to Allen's 3.6). But, Allen had a much higher rushing success rate, with a 51.1 percent mark to Hall's 46.4 percent. The shift could be an early indicator that the Jets will be moving on from Hall after this year, entering the final year of his rookie deal. Or, it's designed to keep him and his legs healthy for a long future with the Jets. Hall suffered a torn ACL in his rookie campaign and had a nagging injury on the same knee to end last season. 'Stacked' Buccaneers' 'Triplets' Ranked Among NFL's Best
'Stacked' Buccaneers' 'Triplets' Ranked Among NFL's Best originally appeared on Athlon Sports. No one can argue that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers boast, on paper, one of the most explosive offenses in football. Advertisement Last season, with Chris Godwin out after Week 7, a rookie running back and Baker Mayfield trying to make sure his 2023 Pro Bowl wasn't a fluke, the Buccaneers averaged a crisp 29.5 points per game, with Mayfield again earning a Pro Bowl nod, Mike Evans going past 1,000 yards, and Irving rushing for over 1,000 yards. Now, as we turn to the 2025 season, Matt Verderame has ranked all 32 teams' triplets, which consist of a quarterback, running back, and receiver. Tampa Bay's trio of Mayfield, Irving, and Evans came in at No. 10. "The Buccaneers are underrated nationally, but they're stacked on offense," he writes. "Mayfield has been brilliant in Tampa, throwing for 8,544 yards and 69 touchdowns across two years, both times winning the NFC South. Last year, Irving stormed onto the scene as a rookie and totaled 1,122 rushing yards on 5.4 YPC with eight touchdowns, while Evans posted his 11th consecutive 1,000-yard season." Baker Mayfield, Bucky Irving, Mike EvansBy Tony Fisher That is a good trio anyway you want to slice it. Advertisement Some still aren't sold on Baker being the franchise quarterback to make a deep playoff run, but Irving should improve on his 2024 efforts, and Evans, with a receiver room that added Emeka Egbuka, might see a lot of favorable matchups en route to what we hope is another 1,000-yard season. So the Buccaneers having a top-10 offensive trio isn't earth-shattering. It isn't even surprising. And they will be tasked with trying to get this franchise to the playoffs and beyond in 2025, and based on what we have already seen, they are more than capable of doing it.
