Groq launches its first European data centre in Helsinki

Yahoo2 days ago
US-based artificial intelligence (AI) chipmaker Groq has unveiled a new data centre in Helsinki, Finland.
The new facility will cater to the growing demand for AI inference services in the European region. Additionally, it will offer reduced latency, quicker response times, and enhanced data governance.
The new data centre, Groq's first in Europe, has been established in partnership with US-based Equinix, a global digital infrastructure company. It further solidifies the association between both companies, building on their previous site in Dallas, Texas, US.
Jonathan Ross, CEO and founder of Groq, remarked that the new European data centre offers the lowest possible latency and ready infrastructure.
"As demand for AI inference continues at an ever-increasing pace, we know that those building fast need more – more capacity, more efficiency, and with a cost that scales,' he further added.
Regina Donato Dahlstrom, managing director for the Nordics at Equinix, reaffirmed Finland as a standout choice for hosting the new data centre. She attributed it to the country's sustainable energy policies, free cooling, and reliable power grid.
"Combining Groq's cutting-edge technology with Equinix's global infrastructure and vendor-neutral connectivity solutions enables efficient AI inference at scale,' she added.
Headquartered in the US state of California, Groq builds AI accelerator application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs). It has around 500 employees globally. Last year, it announced an expansion in Saudi Arabia.
"Groq launches its first European data centre in Helsinki" was originally created and published by Investment Monitor, a GlobalData owned brand.

Italy opens Ukraine rebuilding conference as doubts of US defense help remain

ROME — Italy is hosting the fourth annual conference on rebuilding Ukraine even as Russia escalates its war, inviting political and business leaders to Rome to promote public-private partnerships on defense, mining, energy and other projects as uncertainty grows about the U.S. commitment to Kyiv's defense. Premier Giorgia Meloni and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy were opening the meeting Thursday, which gets under way as Russia accelerated its aerial and ground attacks against Ukraine , firing a record number of drones across 10 regions this week.

Gerresheimer cuts its 2025 revenue outlook for second time

(Reuters) -German packaging and medical equipment maker Gerresheimer cut its revenue guidance for 2025 for a second time on Thursday, seeing continued weak demand in the cosmetic and oral liquids markets. It cut the lower end of its revenue growth forecast, now estimating a range of 0% to 2% growth in 2025, down from the previous range of 1-2%. "Growth momentum in the first half of the year overall was below our expectations," Dietmar Siemssen, CEO of Gerresheimer, said in a statement. However, it confirmed its outlook for an adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) margin of around 20%, as it expects a stronger second half of the year. The medical packaging maker also cut its mid-term guidance, now expecting revenue growth in a range of 6-9%, down from a previous range of 8-10%, based on its outlook for 2025 and a stronger focus on cash flow, which led it to revise its investment planning.
