Boy, 17, stabbed in back in Bootle street attack
A 17-year-old boy was stabbed in the back in a street attack on Merseyside.The teenager was attacked in Bootle just after 19:00 BST on Monday, police said, with officers still investigation precisely what happened.The boy was assaulted in Stone Square before making it to Marsh Avenue where he was given first aid by members of the public. He was then treated in hospital for injuries not thought to be life threatening.Det Sgt Dave Smith said it was unclear how many people were involved and appealed for witnesses.
"There is no place for knives in our communities and we will always seek to take positive action when we have information about people storing, carrying or using weapons," he said."I would urge anyone with information to get in touch so we can act on community intelligence or call Crimestoppers anonymously."

A PSNI spokesperson said they were investigating a number of reports of criminal damage in the area which they believe to be racially motivated. Chief Inspector Mullan said: 'My officers are investigating two arson incidents which occurred on Thursday evening, June 5. "There have been several other hate crimes in this area in recent weeks and we will be reviewing all of the incidents to try to establish if they are linked. "Enquiries into both incidents, which are being treated as hate crimes, are ongoing, and we are appealing to anyone with any information which might assist us to come forward. "The number to call is 101, quoting reference number 1825 05/06/25. 'These kind of attacks are completely unacceptable, and I want to make it clear that Police will do everything in their power to identify the offenders and bring them before the courts. 'We will be conducting a thorough investigation, and local patrols will be increased in this area as we work to bring this criminality, which has no place in our society, to an end. 'The police cannot prevent and detect this behaviour alone and I would ask for the support of elected representatives, partner agencies, community leaders and local residents to work with us and help us to end these attacks. "These attacks are impacting on families living in the area, some of whom have young families.'

Police are looking into an industrial estate robbery in Caswell Way
On Monday June 2 four unknown men reportedly took a significant amount of cash from a parked van in the Reevesland Industrial Estate Caswell Way at around 3.20pm The men arrived and left the scene in a Blue Audi S3 - licence plate MH16 00A. Police are appealing for witnesses and want to establish the movements of the car, before and after the report of the robbery. All four men wore face coverings and were dressed all in black – black trousers, hooded tops, and trainers. The car was later found abandoned in Lysaght Village, Newport and it is believed that the men left the area in a different vehicle. Two men, aged 34 and 38, from Bristol were arrested on suspicion of robbery and remain in police custody. Senior investigating officer, DCI David Morris said: 'We're trying to establish the movements of the car, and the four men, before and after the report of the robbery. 'We're asking for businesses and motorists who were in the Reevesland Industrial Estate between 2pm and 3.30pm on Monday 2 June to check their CCTV and dashcam footage. 'We'd also ask that residents of Lysaght Village and the surrounding areas also check their CCTV and come forward if they have seen anything suspicious over the last few days to help with our investigation.' Man charged with murder after disappearance of Colombian woman
A man has been charged with murder after a Colombian woman disappeared after leaving her east London home. Yajaira Castro Mendez, 46, was reported missing to the Metropolitan Police on Saturday May 31 having left her home in Ilford on the morning of Thursday May 29. Police were at a scene in Gray's Inn Road, Camden, on Friday as part of their investigation into the incident. Juan Toledo, 51, of south-east London, appeared at Barkingside Magistrates' Court on the same day charged with her murder. Scotland Yard said the man, who was arrested on Tuesday, is known to Ms Castro Mendez. Chief Superintendent Jason Stewart, who leads policing in Camden, said: 'Officers have been working around the clock to find Yajaira. She has not been seen or heard from by her family or friends since the date she was reported missing. 'Yajaira's disappearance was initially treated as a missing person investigation led by local officers. 'The investigation was then transferred to the Met's Specialist Crime Command on Thursday (June 5) after a range of extensive further inquiries very sadly suggested she has come to harm. 'Yajaira's family continue to be supported by specialist officers, and we are keeping them updated with developments. 'Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances and there are crime scenes in place across Camden and Lambeth. 'We thank the community for their patience while we carry out our inquiries and ask that any one with information please comes forward.'
