Michael Pitt, known for his role in HBO's Boardwalk Empire, is facing serious legal trouble after being charged with multiple counts of sexual abuse and assault in Brooklyn.
The actor was arrested on May 2, 2025, and charged with a series of alleged violent crimes that reportedly occurred between April 2020 and August 2021.
Court documents reveal that Pitt has been indicted on charges including sexual abuse, criminal sex act, assault, and strangulation. He pleaded not guilty during a recent appearance at Brooklyn Supreme Court and is scheduled to return for another hearing in June.
According to reports, the first alleged incident occurred in April 2020, when Pitt is accused of sexually abusing a victim through forcible compulsion inside his Brooklyn residence. In August of the same year, he allegedly forced the victim to engage in oral sex and assaulted them with a wooden four-by-four. Further accusations detail an assault involving a cinderblock in June 2021, followed by an alleged strangulation in August 2021.
While the name of the victim has been redacted in legal documents, some reports, including from the New York Post, suggest the individual may have been Pitt's former girlfriend.
This is not Pitt's first run-in with the law. In 2022, he was arrested for assault and petty larceny, and later that year, he was hospitalized after being found in a mentally disturbed state.
Requests for comments from Pitt's legal team and the Brooklyn District Attorney's office remain unanswered at this time.

Brad Pitt cuts ties with two children, strains relationship with Angelina Jolie

Brad Pitt has reportedly severed ties with two of his children, Pax and Maddox, following years of tension with ex-wife Angelina Jolie. Sources close to the actor tell Daily Mail that he is no longer involved in their lives and is distancing himself from their issues. Pitt's relationship with Pax, 21, became strained after a concerning incident in May when Pax was seen leaving a strip club, prompting concern from Pitt's camp. A source revealed, "Brad has zero concern with what Pax does or doesn't do. His actions reflect who he is." The actor's estrangement also extends to his oldest adopted son, Maddox, 23. In 2016, Maddox was reportedly involved in a physical confrontation with Pitt on a private jet, leading to the couple's separation. Since then, the father-son relationship has remained strained, with Maddox distancing himself from Pitt. Further complicating matters, Shiloh, Pitt and Jolie's 19-year-old daughter, legally changed her surname to "Jolie" last year, while Zahara and Vivienne have also reportedly dropped "Pitt" in favour of their mother's surname. Despite the rift with his adopted children, Pitt still holds out hope for reconciliation with his younger children, including twins Knox and Vivienne, and 19-year-old Shiloh. A source close to Pitt shared that he hopes "time heals wounds" and that the remaining children may eventually come around. The tensions between Pitt and Jolie continue to divide the family, with both stars focused on their professional lives. Pitt is preparing for the release of his new movie F1, while Jolie recently wrapped filming on Couture.

Conor McGregor deletes post after Game of Thrones actor references Khabib loss

Former UFC champion Conor McGregor found himself on the receiving end of a brutal social media takedown this week from Game of Thrones star Liam Cunningham, forcing the fighter to delete his controversial post. The exchange began when Cunningham - best known for playing Davos Seaworth in the HBO series - shared a post about Israel's seizure of a Gaza-bound aid flotilla. McGregor, who has increasingly involved himself in political discussions, responded with a mocking comment: "I thought you were on the boat Liamo, what happened? You forgot your sea goggles? You get sea sick off the gargle? Bottler." Cunningham delivered a cutting response that quickly went viral: "Didn't know you could read and write Conor. Thought you used your hands to tap out" - a clear reference to McGregor's infamous 2018 submission loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229. The Irish fighter, who hasn't competed since July 2021, promptly deleted his original post, continuing his pattern of removing controversial social media content after backlash. McGregor has recently expressed interest in running for Irish presidency, though this latest exchange highlights the potential pitfalls of his combative online persona. The actor's retort struck particularly hard as it recalled one of the lowest moments in McGregor's fighting career. His submission to Nurmagomedov's neck crank remains one of his most high-profile defeats, followed by two knockout losses to Dustin Poirier in their subsequent trilogy fights. Cunningham, meanwhile, has established himself as a vocal humanitarian activist, with his Gaza-related posts reflecting his ongoing advocacy work. The sharp contrast between their public personas - the brash MMA star versus the politically engaged actor - made the exchange particularly noteworthy. This incident marks yet another example of McGregor's controversial social media presence, where his provocative posts often generate significant attention before being deleted. His online activity continues to draw scrutiny even as his fighting career remains on hiatus.

Elizabeth Weber reemerges after decades for Billy Joel's HBO documentary

Elizabeth Weber, Billy Joel's first wife and longtime former manager, made headlines this week by publicly speaking for the first time in 43 years. The 82-year-old appeared at the premiere of And So It Goes, HBO's new two-part documentary on the music icon, during the 2025 Tribeca Festival in New York. Weber, often referred to as Joel's muse and the inspiration behind several of his classic songs, attended the event with her son Sean Small. Reflecting on her eight-year marriage to Joel, she told People, 'It was great then, it's great whenever I think about it, and it's great now.' The documentary dives deep into Billy Joel's early struggles, creative rise, and personal pain — much of which centered around Elizabeth. The two had a controversial beginning, with Elizabeth initially married to Joel's bandmate Jon Small. Despite the rocky start, she and Joel married in 1973, with Weber becoming a strategic force behind his success. She reportedly pushed him to release 'Just the Way You Are' — a decision that won him two Grammys. Weber also inspired iconic songs such as 'She's Always a Woman' and 'The Stranger.' However, their marriage ended in the early 1980s amid Joel's growing substance issues and a near-fatal motorcycle accident. Now, re-entering public life, Weber says she joined the project after encouragement from her granddaughters and co-director Susan Lacy. Notably absent was Joel, 75, who is recovering from normal pressure hydrocephalus. According to Lacy, he is undergoing physical therapy and is expected to recover fully. Weber's return offers rare insight into a pivotal yet misunderstood chapter of Billy Joel's career and personal life.
