Delay in declaration of CET results draws criticism
This year, the CET was conducted online between April 19 and May 5 however the results are going to be announced only on June 16 after a gap of nearly 40 days. Vivek Velankar, president of the Pune-based citizens' group compared this timeline with that of the results of Class 12 Maharashtra board exams wherein 14 lakh students appeared and results were declared within 55 days.
'In contrast, the CET, which was held online for barely 7 lakh students, is taking over 40 days for result declaration. This is a puzzle no one can solve,' Velankar said in the letter.
He pointed out that the neighbouring state of Karnataka is handling the process more efficiently. 'Karnataka's CET was conducted between May 10 and 25 and the results will be out on June 7 in just 13 days,' the letter stated.
Velankar also raised concerns over multiple errors in the CET question papers this year. 'There were at least 40 mistakes in the question papers, which is shameful in itself,' he noted.
He said that the delay in declaration of CET results would in turn delay the admission process with professional colleges beginning their academic year as late as mid-August. Calling the entire situation very unfortunate, Velankar demanded immediate action in terms of urgent processing of CET results and admission timelines.
Meanwhile, Akshay Randive, a student, said, 'It's already June 4, and yet the dates keep getting extended again and again. The CET cell helpline tells us to contact the CET office, but no one answers the calls there.'
Abhishek Dubey, another student, said, 'This year, there were around 40 mistakes in the CET question papers which is already frustrating. Now, the delay in results is adding to the stress and making me more anxious by the day.'

Chandigarh: The Haryana govt has decided to provide the benefit of horizontal reservation in direct recruitment to resident ex-Agniveers of the state. After detailed deliberations on the matter, a policy was formulated to provide reservation for ex-Agniveers in various state services. A letter in this regard was issued by chief secretary Anurag Rastogi. According to this policy, ex-Agniveers will get 1 percent horizontal reservation in Group-B posts related to skill expertise and 5 percent in Group-C posts (excluding some specified categories). In the home department, 20 percent reservation will be given for the posts of police constables. Similarly, 10 percent reservation has been fixed for the posts of forest guard in the environment, forest and wildlife department, warder in the jail department, and mining guard in the mines and geology department. To ensure fair distribution among all social categories, reservation will be applied at fixed roster points. Selection will be purely on the basis of merit, and ex-Agniveers will be selected against reserved posts within their respective vertical categories. If suitable ex-Agniveers are not available, the vacant posts will be filled by eligible candidates of the concerned category. They will also be exempted from skill-related tests for which they received training during their military service. However, they will be required to appear in the written examination prescribed by the Haryana Staff Selection Commission for the advertised posts. Over 100 border villages of Punjab to be developed under central scheme
Bathinda: To boost development in rural areas, 107 villages from six border districts of Punjab have been included in a Vibrant Village Programme, meant for comprehensive development. This programme was launched in April 2025 and will continue until the financial year 2028-29. The identified focus areas of interventions under the programme are livelihood generation, road connectivity, village infrastructure including health facilities, financial inclusion, empowerment of youth and skill development and development of cooperatives. This was stated by Union minister of state for home affairs Nityanand Rai in a written reply in Rajya Sabha in response to a question by Punjab-based MP Satnam Singh Sandhu on Wednesday. Out of the total 107 villages, 25 are in Amritsar, 15 in Fazilka, 17 in Ferozepur, 19 in Gurdaspur, 7 in Pathankot, and 24 in Tarn Taran. HC seeks record of charges framed against Cong MLA Sanjay Awasthi
Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh high court has directed advocate general Anup Rattan to place on record the photocopies of the relevant documents of the case in which the special judge Solan has framed charges against Congress MLA from Arki, Sanjay Awasthi, and cricketer Vikramjeet Malik . The directions came from the division bench comprising Chief Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawali and Justice Ranjan Sharma during the resumed hearing of a suo moto case pertaining to the pending criminal cases against the MPs and MLAs in the state, on Tuesday. The advocate general informed the court that the special judge Solan had framed charges against Awasthi and Malik on April 21, 2022. MLA Awasthi is facing charges of wrongly authenticating the veracity of cricketer Malik's claim of being a resident of Solan to register himself with the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) and to play with the Himachal Ranji team. Awasthi, who is himself a cricketer, was then president of the Solan District Cricket Association and also served as a municipal councillor in Solan from 2000 to 2005. Malik, born in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, played in the Himachal Ranji team as a bowler and was later part of the Kings XI Punjab IPL team from 2009 to 2011. He then shifted to Rajasthan Royals in 2013, and later Royal Challengers Bangalore picked him in the 2016 auction. The state vigilance and anti-corruption bureau had registered a case of cheating, forgery, and false documentation against various cricketers from other states for obtaining Himachal domicile certificates on false documents. The vigilance had filed the first chargesheet in the court in June 2013 against cricketer Kuldeep Diwan, who claimed to be a resident of Kullu. Malik and another Delhi-based cricketer, Sobers Joban, are co-accused in the case. The high court has posted the matter for the next hearing on Sept 8.
