Dominique has shown improvement, as earlier in the year she took home a bronze medal at the Gauteng Karate Federation Championship. Fighting for West Rand and Gauteng, the young martial artist is soon to represent the nation, as she's been selected to represent South Africa at the world championships in India.
She said that she enjoyed the JKS tournament as she felt there wasn't as much pressure as in the other competitions. 'I could breathe, focus, and just enjoy being on the mat. Winning first place, and becoming the JKS Nationals champion, means the world to me.
'This gold medal is the result of every moment I didn't give up. I've faced many tough international competitors, and I've lost more times than I can count, but I kept going. Every loss made me stronger, and this win shows that all the hard work has paid off.'

Dominique added that she is excited and honoured to be selected to represent her country. 'It feels like a dream coming to life. I'm proud of myself, but I'm even more grateful. My journey hasn't been easy, but I've had incredible people guiding and supporting me. It takes so much discipline, sacrifice, and passion, and I've given it everything I have.'
Dominique is appealing to the community for assistance in making her dream of competing in the world championships come true, as the trip is self-funded. 'This dream is my whole heart, but I can't reach it alone. If you're able to assist with sponsorships, donations of any size, or even by sharing my story, it would mean more than words can say. Every contribution, no matter how small, helps cover my training, gear, and travel expenses.'

Sundowns serve style goals with Club World Cup kit drop

Mamelodi Sundowns have officially revealed their 2025 FIFA Club World Cup kit, and it's a visual masterpiece worth the wait. In partnership with PUMA and New York-based fashion label KidSuper, Sundowns now sport one of the most creative kits in world football. The new kit is part of the PUMA x KidSuper collection — a bold collaboration that fuses football, fashion, and art. With hand-drawn graphics, watercolour tones, and unique club-inspired designs, the collection is more than just sportswear — it's wearable art. Each design tells a story, capturing the essence and energy of the clubs it represents. PUMA described the Mamelodi Sundowns home kit as being inspired by 'Tshwane's evening sky,' where warm tones meet cooler shades. The home jersey features a bright yellow base with elegant mountain blue, green, and white detailing, reflecting Sundowns' dynamic playing style. Known for their 'shoeshine and piano' rhythm, the kit captures that flair, joy, and energy seen on the pitch. The goalkeeper jersey, equally bold, features a rich purple base complemented by yellow and mountain blue accents. Beyond the matchday look, the PUMA x KidSuper collection includes special edition boots — FUTURE, ULTRA, and KING — reimagined in artistic styles. Sundowns are joined in this global collection by clubs like Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund, Al-Hilal, FC Salzburg, Palmeiras, and Monterrey. This innovative line blurs the line between sport and street fashion, turning football gear into culture-driven apparel. Sundowns will kick off their 2025 FIFA Club World Cup campaign on Tuesday, 17 June, against Ulsan Hyundai of South Korea at Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando, Florida. Kick-off is set for 12:00 AM SAST on 18 June. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211. Orbit College and Casric Stars play to a stalemate in PSL promotion playoff

Simon Moukete of Casric Stars during the PSL 2024/25 Playoff against Orbit College at Olympia Park Stadium in Tshwane. | BackpagePix Image: BackpagePix Orbit College was forced to settle for a goalless draw against Casric Stars in the Premier Soccer League promotional playoff match staged at the Olympia Park Stadium in Rustenburg on Wednesday. The result sees both sides sitting on one point apiece, as the Rustenburg-based team now faces a long trip to the Western Cape, where they will meet PSL side Cape Town City, who are set to begin their bid to defend their top-flight status on home turf. With a valuable place in the Betway Premiership on the line, both teams entered the encounter fully aware of what was at stake, and the cautious opening exchanges clearly demonstrated how vital it was to begin the promotional playoffs on a positive note and build momentum going forward. Playing in familiar surroundings, the home team enjoyed the early psychological edge, attempting to impose themselves on the contest using the comfort of their home ground to their advantage as they looked to control the tempo of the mini-tournament. This early advantage was especially significant given Orbit's recent history against Casric, having failed to register a single win in their last four head-to-head meetings with the Mpumalanga-based visitors. The opening stages of the match were tense, with both teams showing signs of nervous energy, and the tension was clearly visible on both benches. The two coaches remained vocal throughout, shouting instructions from their technical areas, while the home supporters were in full voice, generating an electric atmosphere as the evenly matched contest unfolded in the first half. Looking to exploit their home advantage, Orbit began applying early pressure, with Siyabulela Mabele sparking a promising attacking move, combining nicely with Letsie Koapeng, but his first genuine shot on goal was struck directly at the visiting goalkeeper, Emile Tcheuko, who dealt with it comfortably. The visitors had a response of their own, with Thabang Semache coming closest to breaking the deadlock in the 21st minute when his powerful long-range shot from well outside the penalty area forced Orbit goalkeeper Sekhoane Moerane into a sharp save, palming the ball to safety and keeping the score level.

Sundowns' Maema tight-lipped on future after making CWC squad

'I'm not going to mention anything about my future at the club because I'm still a Sundowns player,' said Maema. Neo Maema of Mamelodi Sundowns during the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 departure at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, on 08 June 2025 ©Phakamisa Lensman/BackpagePix Neo Maema has remained tight-lipped about his future after being named in Mamelodi Sundowns' final squad for the Fifa Club World Cup. The skilful midfielder endured a tough 2024/25 season, struggling for regular game time, with strong speculation suggesting he could be on his way out of the Chloorkop-based outfit. The former Bloemfontein Celtic star is believed to have just one year left on his current deal, having joined the Brazilians on a five-year contract in 2021. Maema featured in only seven Betway Premiership matches during the campaign after falling down the pecking order in the star-studded squad. Notably, Thapelo Maseko and Terrence Mashego are the two most high-profile absentees from the travelling party heading to the United States for the global showpiece. Sundowns have been drawn in Group F alongside Ulsan HD, Borussia Dortmund, and Fluminense. 'I always knew that I would make the squad and it's not about being arrogant but I feel that this is the work of the players that have been here two years ago when we qualified for the Club World Cup' Maema said. 'When you're still at the team, you just have to eat the fruits of the work that you put in. I'm happy that I made the squad and obviously it's disappointing for the ones that didn't make it but there's competition. 'This is a big club but I feel for them because they are my brothers but I'm also looking forward to the experience of the club world cup. I'm not going to mention anything about my future at the club because I'm still a Sundowns player.' Goalkeeper Ronwen Williams has already laid down the challenge for the side to reach the last 16 of the expanded 32-team tournament. Maema is also eager to make an impression on the world stage and prove his worth in a tournament that could shape the next chapter of many of the Sundowns players. 'We had a couple of days off to recuperate to make sure that we gather our thoughts and just look forward because this is another adventure,' Maema concluded. It's a big opportunity for everybody to showcase our talent and also as a team to do well.'
