Cambuslang Rangers boss slapped with eight-game ban as he eyes summer recruitment
Paul McColl has repeatedly asked for meetings with the SFA referees department Cambuslang Rangers boss Paul McColl has been handed an eight-game ban for comments made about referees in the Rutherglen Reformer. Two of the games are suspended, but McColl will sit out the first six fixtures of next season's West of Scotland Second Division. McColl has repeatedly requested to talk to the Scottish FA about the situation, but hasn't been granted a meeting yet. He said: 'Every time I ask to speak to the referee department, they don't want to meet me. 'What have we to do, have we not to say one word against the referees? It was my honest opinion.' McColl has strengthened his squad with two signings and expects another six more to bolster his squad. The Camby gaffer moved to snap up experienced defender Kyle Stewart, who was Lesmahagow's Player of the Year, and midfielder Darren Jarvis from Maryhill. Danny McBride and Nadeem Zeb have also re-signed for next season, alongside prolific striker Carlos Lyon, and McColl anticipates being able to announce a number of others who are in the same bracket. McColl, who will start the season with an eight-game ban (two suspended) for comments made about referees last season, said: 'There are good players there. 'We've got a couple more to try and get, and we'll hopefully get them soon enough. 'With those and the ones we're keeping, it should be good. 'We signed Darren Jarvis from Maryhill, we had to buy him, he's a No. 10, can play out wide, in the middle, or in a number of positions, and big Kyle Stewart, who was the Player of the Year at Lesmahagow, so that's a good signing. 'I've known Kyle for a couple of years and tried to get him a few times. He's a steady, big player, good in the air. 'There are another couple who are nearly over the line. 'On the guys we're keeping, Danny's a cracker, he's 19, and he's a good player already but he's going to become really good. 'Carlos, you won't get another player that's going to score 30 goals a season and if you do they're all signed up. 'I think we need another six, which will take it up to about 20.' Cambuslang have been drawn at home to Glasgow University in the Strathclyde Demolition Cup first round, with Vale of Leven or Forth Wanderers visiting the winners in the second round. Dates are yet to be confirmed. McColl said: 'I don't know anything about Glasgow University but they'll probably be a young, physical team, so they'll be decent and fit. 'But any home tie will hopefully allow us to get a run in the cup, because we were terrible in the cups last season, going out in the first round and that's not good enough. 'Hopefully we've got enough in our locker to win a couple of ties.'
