At the World Masters Athletics Games, Om Prakash Sharma (70+) and Ajeet Singh (65+) won two silver medals each, bringing pride to India with their stellar performance
While most people over the age of 60 choose retirement to relax at home, two senior citizens from Una in Himachal Pradesh decided to make their mark in athletics on the world stage. Competing in the 65+ and 70+ age groups, both won silver medals for India.
Their remarkable performance at the World Masters Athletics Games, recently held in New Taipei City, Taiwan, has made the nation proud. Om Prakash Sharma, competing in the 70+ category, and Ajeet Singh, in the 65+ category, represented India and each won two silver medals in different events, showcasing their exceptional talent and determination internationally.
While their achievements inspire the younger generation, both athletes expressed disappointment over the lack of support from the government and local administration. Om Prakash Sharma shared that although winning a medal for the country was an emotional moment, he had to bear the entire cost of travel and participation himself.
He also urged the youth to stay away from drugs and embrace sports, which not only promote good health but also offer recognition at any stage of life.
Ajeet Singh, who took up athletics after retirement, also brought home two silver medals. He said that reaching the international level in just eight years is a matter of great pride. However, he too was disheartened by the absence of any recognition or encouragement from the authorities, despite such significant achievements.
Both athletes highlighted the importance of sports in maintaining physical and mental well-being. They called for better support systems and appreciation for senior athletes, and encouraged people of all ages to embrace sports as a lifelong pursuit.

NASCAR's Connor Zilisch breaks collarbone after falling from atop car celebrating Xfinity Series win

Connor Zilisch suffered a broken collarbone after a scary fall while celebrating his NASCAR Xfinity Series win at Watkins Glen on Saturday. Zilisch was in victory lane when he climbed to the top of his car to celebrate like winners traditionally do. As he did, he slipped and tumbled headfirst into the concrete below. He was immediately tended to by medical personnel and transported away from victory lane on a gurney. After he was taken to a local hospital, Zilisch tweeted Saturday night that he had broken a collarbone and that CT scans on his head were clear. His dad Jim had a sense of humor after the fall too. Zilisch, 19, is one of NASCAR's top prospects and an exceptional road course racer. Saturday's win at the Glen was his sixth Xfinity Series victory of the season and he's currently atop the points standings. However, he's likely to miss multiple races because of the injury. He drives for JR Motorsports, the team co-owned by Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his sister Kelley Earnhardt Miller, in NASCAR's No. 2 series. It's not the first injury that Zilisch has suffered this season, either. While racing for the win at Talladega in the spring, Zilisch's car went sliding and hit head-first into the inside wall on the backstretch. He suffered a lower back injury in the wreck and missed a race. Zilisch was also scheduled to start Sunday's Cup Series race for Trackhouse Racing. His No. 87 car has been withdrawn from the race as a result of his fall. Trackhouse is widely expected to promote Zilisch to the Cup Series full-time in 2026 as Daniel Suarez is leaving the team at the end of the season.

Summer Signing Luis Henrique Declares ‘A Real Team Is Being Born' At Inter Milan – Adds ‘Chivu Is Inviting Me To Take Risk'

Luis Henrique says that 'a real team is being born' at Inter Milan. The Brazilian gave his thoughts in an interview in today's print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. He also said that he takes 'risks' under Cristian Chivu. Brazilian winger Luis Henrique has now been an Inter player for a couple months. The Nerazzurri signed Henrique from Marseille at the start of the summer. They had in fact been negotiating a deal to bring him in since the spring. The 23-year-old is a player who Inter identified as an ideal backup to Denzel Dumfries at right-wingback. Furthermore, Henrique is a player who can give Inter greater tactical versatility. The Brazilian's speed and dribbling ability give him a bit of a different profile to a player like Dumfries. And even potentially the ability to play in other positions than at wingback. This could be particularly important since Inter are working under a new coach. Cristian Chivu replaced Simone Inzaghi after the latter left for the big money offer of Al-Hilal. (Photo by) Luis Henrique commented that 'on the right flank I'm studying Dumfries.' 'He's a player of an extraordinary level,' he commented the Dutchman. 'I'd love to become a hammer like him.' 'But I also like starting on the left and moving inside to be more unpredictable. I think I have the right qualities to do that.' Then, Henrique noted that 'at Marseille I also played as a central midfielder.' 'The movements are different. But I enjoy it. I'll play where the coach chooses, and try to learn.' Meanwhile, Henrique said that 'You can see this is a real team' after Inter's friendly against Monaco. 'Having played in Ligue 1, I know how hard it is to come up against Monaco.' 'And it's not easy for anyone to come back when the team is a man down.' 'The preparations have been tough,' Henrique commented. 'And you can feel it in your legs.' 'But a strong team is being born,' the Brazilian insisted. (Photo by) Meanwhile, Henrique praised Inter coach Cristian Chivu. 'He has the soul of a player,' he said of the Romanian. 'So he understands what you need. And how you feel inside.' 'He's given me confidence, and the freedom to dribble.' 'He wants me to play my own style of football,' Henrique said of his coach. 'To take risks.' The 23-year-old said that Chivu 'encourages me to try one-on-ones.' 'I'm also learning a lot about tactics. Positioning is really important here.' 'But for my part, I think I also bring some Brazilian joy, dribbling, and flair.' Then, Henrique called competing for the starting spot on the right flank with Denzel Dumfries 'the challenge I was looking for at this point in my career.' 'And I say this with utmost admiration for Denzel.' 'I've always dreamed of playing for a big team with top players. And that motivates me to find my place.' Henrique noted that 'Healthy competition can help you.'

Manchester City interested in Castello Lukeba

With his youth and potential, he could bring dynamism and quality to the English champions' back line. Manchester City interested in Castello Lukeba Manchester City are on the hunt for reinforcements at centre-back, and Castello Lukeba has emerged as a top target for the English club. The 22-year-old French defender currently plies his trade at RB Leipzig, where he has drawn attention—particularly during the Under-21 Euro. A product of Olympique Lyonnais, Lukeba has continued to develop in Germany and now boasts an impressive level of performance. He is highly regarded for his ball-playing ability, solid defensive positioning, and keen reading of the game. These attributes make him a well-rounded defender, capable of contributing both at the back and when pushing forward. Pep Guardiola is looking for a player with a profile similar to Joško Gvardiol: a defender who can deliver defensive stability while actively contributing to build-up play from the back. RB Leipzig are reportedly seeking an offer in the region of €30 million for their player. Talks between the clubs are ongoing and, if all goes well, Lukeba could become a key addition for Manchester City next season.
