's enduring legacy, a rare game-worn jersey and shorts from the Chicago Bulls' 1992-93 season sold for a staggering $2.623 million at Heritage Auctions. This eye-catching sale, which included the buyer's premium. The insane price tag shows how highly prized Jordan memorabilia remains among collectors and fans alike.

Michael Jordan has certainly been one of the NBA's most talked-about, cultural phenoms, a legend, and arguably the best in the league. What makes this jersey particularly extraordinary is its documented history and significance. Photo-matching experts at MeiGray and Sports Investors Authentication (SIA) have verified the uniform was worn by Jordan in at least 17 games, spanning from November 6, 1992, to March 24, 1993. The jersey was part of the Bulls' journey to their first-ever three-peat and Jordan's third NBA title.
'We believe this jersey was very likely worn every road game from November 6, 1992 to March 24, 1993,' said SIA in its authentication letter.
The exact jersey was worn by Jordan on the October 18, 1993 cover of Sports Illustrated, just before he shocked the world by announcing his first retirement at the age of 30. The cover simply read, 'WHY?', capturing the collective disbelief of fans everywhere.
This was a huge season for the Bulls and for Jordan himself. He led the league in scoring for the seventh consecutive year, tying Wilt Chamberlain's legendary record. His dominance peaked during the NBA Finals, where he averaged 41 points per game, still the highest in Finals history. That performance sealed the Bulls' victory over the Phoenix Suns.
The condition of the jersey adds another layer of intrigue. Heritage Auctions noted it had 'monumental game wear far exceeding any Jordan' item they've previously handled.
The fabric was visibly softened from repeated laundering.
This set is also the only known Jordan uniform from that season to be photo-matched to so many appearances.
Though the $2.623 million sale is impressive, it still falls short of the record for Jordan memorabilia. That distinction belongs to the 'Last Dance' jersey from Game 1 of the 1998 NBA Finals, which sold for $10.091 million in 2022 — the most ever paid for a game-worn sports collectible.
Other notable Jordan auctions include:
-Six Air Jordan sneakers — one from each championship win — which sold for $8 million in 2023 via Sotheby's.

Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc is comfortable with his decision to leave the Indian Premier League (IPL) following the India-Pakistan clashes last month regardless of any repercussions, the 35-year-old said. The IPL was suspended on May 9 in the wake of hostilities between the two. It resumed on May 17 after the nuclear-armed neighbours agreed to a ceasefire. He opted out of the Champions Trophy in Pakistan earlier this year citing personal reasons and has skipped the IPL more than once to preserve himself for international cricket. The left-arm quick said he withdrew from the remainder of the IPL because of the extraordinary circumstances. 'I'm still heavily committed to the Delhi group, and I'm not someone that's gone into tournaments and pulled out after being picked up in an auction or whatever that looks like,' Starc said. 'These are different circumstances ... I had a discussion back home then came to a decision, and whatever comes from that I'm comfortable with that and we move forward.'

When panic and overcrowding spiralled into tragedy at Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday afternoon, only a handful of police personnel were on ground, and among them, a single IPS officer, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Saidulu Adavath, tried to hold the crowd back with his team of two, the report added. According to The Indian Express, the pressure on stadium entry points, particularly Gates 2, 2A, 6, 7, 16, 17, 18, and 21, turned them into chokepoints. At Gate 17, where a lone private security guard was deployed, fans began to push through. The sudden surge led to a crush that turned fatal. Eyewitnesses told the publication that DCP Adavath, delayed by traffic, reached the scene and immediately began using a lathi to disperse the crowd. He managed to shut the gate from the inside, possibly preventing further casualties. The report adds that police reinforcements were significantly delayed, leaving Adavath and his small team to manage the chaos for nearly an hour. The DCP sustained a hand injury and experienced low blood pressure and irregular heartbeat, for which he was admitted to Ramaiah Hospital. Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia inaugurates MPL season 2
Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) [India] June 6 (ANI): Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia inaugurated the second season of the Madhya Pradesh League (MPL) on Thursday, in Gwalior, according to a press note from MPL. Addressing the players and organisers during the event, Scindia said that cricket runs in every Indian's veins today. 'It is not just a sport--it is a spirit that unites millions across the country,' he said. He added that being a part of this event brings renewed energy. Recalling his childhood, Scindia spoke about the opportunities he had to interact with some of the world's greatest cricketers alongside his late father, Madhavrao Scindia. 'Since then, the game of cricket has evolved tremendously,' he noted, while also commending the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association for successfully organising the event. Scindia praised the Royal Challengers Bangalore team, winners of IPL 2025, and said it is a matter of immense pride that the winning team's captain, Rajat Patidar, hails from Madhya Pradesh. Commending Patidar's leadership, he told the young cricketer possesses remarkable leadership potential. Speaking at the MPL inauguration, Scindia highlighted that this season marks a significant step toward women's empowerment by including women's teams in the league. 'I am confident that all seven men's teams and three women's teams will create new history through their performance,' he said. Scindia noted that sports infrastructure in Madhya Pradesh is strengthening and that public interest and participation in sports is continuously growing. Describing MPL as a launchpad, Scindia said that selectors from IPL teams also attend the league to scout talent. 'A testament to this is the fact that 11 players from last year's MPL were selected for IPL,' he said. He added that Madhya Pradesh is the first and only state in the country to initiate a professional league like MPL.' All MPL cricket matches starting from June 12 will be played at the world-class Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior. Scindia also congratulated Mahanaryaman Scindia, Chairman of MPL and Vice President of the Gwalior Division Cricket Association, for his leadership and vision behind MPL and the remarkable success of Season 1, adding how the league is now back with an even stronger Season 2. The aim of MPL, which is considered the brainchild of Mahanaryaman, has been to provide a robust platform for young talent in Madhya Pradesh to push for national-level recognition. Minister credited Mahanaryaman & his team for shaping MPL into a prestigious and aspirational tournament for aspiring cricketers across the state. (ANI)
