Euro 2025: Norway's Graham Hansen overcomes Finland with late goal in 2-1 win
Caroline Graham Hansen provided the class Norway often lacked, deciding the game in the 84th minute with a cross that turned into a shot ending in the Finland net off a post.
Norway's Barcelona forward had forced an own-goal from Finland defender Eva Nyström in the third minute after excellent play on the right wing.
Oona Sevenius deservedly leveled for Finland in the 32nd, showing fine balance to direct a rising left-foot shot from 16 yards (meters).
Finland's tidy play had impressed more than Norway's more star-studded lineup for much of the game, just as Switzerland did in the first half of Norway's opening 2-1 win four days earlier.
'This result was brutal after the performance,' Finland coach Marko Saloranta said in translated comments. 'They have these world class strikers and you cannot give an opponent in such a game two goals.'
Norway now sits atop Group A with six points and Finland is on three, from its opening-day 1-0 win over Iceland.
Norway will go to the quarterfinals as Group A winner if Iceland does not beat host Switzerland in the later game Sunday.
Finland's quality
For all its tidy play, Finland was lucky not to go two goals down. Norway struck the crossbar and a post from back-to-back corners, then star forward Ada Hegerberg was denied by goalkeeper Anna Koivunen's brave blocking save.
Finland leveled with a high-class finish by Sevenius after Norway was again robbed of the ball in its own half by effective pressing.
Finland dominated play midway through the second half and forced Norway goalkeeper Cecilie Fiskerstrand into diving saves from shots by Katariina Kosola and Eveliina Sumannen, whose effort was tipped on to a post.
Norway rallied late in the game and Graham Hansen wasted a clear chance in the 81st by scooping a shot too high with so much time to choose her spot. It was easier than the chance she would score three minutes later.

Norway finishes its group-stage program against Iceland on Thursday, when Finland plays host Switzerland
The eventual group winner will go to Geneva on July 16 to play the first quarterfinal against the runner-up in Spain's Group B.

Brian Campbell wins John Deere Classic for 2nd playoff victory this year
SILVIS, Ill. (AP) — Brian Campbell won for the second time this year on the PGA Tour, both in a playoff, when he closed with a 4-under 67 and beat Emiliano Grillo with a par on the first extra hole Sunday in the John Deere Classic. It extended the win-or-bust season for Campbell, who won the Mexico Open in a playoff in late February. He has finished out of the top 30 every tournament except for his two victories. This one might be enough to get him into the British Open, depending on how high up he moves in the world ranking published Monday, traditionally used as the alternate list. Campbell appeared to have control of the tournament with three birdies in a four-hole stretch to start the back nine. But he fell back with a double bogey into the trees on the 15th, and it was a wild scramble to the finish. Grillo, who also closed with a 67, took the lead when Campbell made double bogey, only to three-putt for bogey on the 16th. Campbell, one of the shorter hitters on tour, blasted a 3-wood to 18 feet for a two-putt birdie on the par-5 17th and narrowly missed a 25-foot birdie on the 18th. He was the first player to post at 18-under 266. Grillo got up-and-down for birdie on the 17th, holing an 8-foot putt, and caught a bad break on the 18th when his drive settled into a divot. He hit wedge to just inside 40 feet and two-putted for par to join Campbell at 266. David Lipsky was poised to join them when he hit a punch 3-wood to 8 feet for eagle on the 17th to tie for the lead. But he hooked his drive on the 18th, couldn't reach the green, and his 15-foot par putt to get into the playoff caught the left lip and spun away. He shot 68 and tied for third with Kevin Roy (65). The playoff lacked any real drama. Campbell hit a beautiful trap draw to about 15 feet on the 18th. Grillo, who caught a break when his drive to the right was sitting up in trampled rough, sent long over the green. His flop shot didn't quite reach the putting surface, and his par attempt from some 25 feet never had a chance. 'I got myself there. I gave myself a chance,' Grillo said. 'I made some good putts. Hit a good putt on the 72nd and that's all I can do.' Campbell becomes the fifth player this year to have multiple victories in individual tournaments on the PGA Tour, joining Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Sepp Straka and Ryan Fox. He finished about a half-hour ahead of the final group, but Campbell chose to stay in the clubhouse to see if his score would hold up instead of staying loose on the practice range. He said it was hot enough that it was better to cool off and get some rest, and there was no arguing with the result — he drilled his drive down the middle and put all the pressure on Grillo with his approach to the green. Max Homa, winless in more than two years, ran off three straight birdies early in the round to briefly take the lead. Bellinger's shoestring catch starts double play, helps Yankees end 6-game losing streak
NEW YORK (AP) — Cody Bellinger watched Juan Soto hit a sinking line drive, charged in a few steps from left field and stuck out his arm as the ball dropped into the webbing of his glove. Then in one motion, Bellinger made a 89.9 mph throw on the fly throw to first baseman Paul Goldschmidt that doubled up Francisco Lindor, who didn't slide. 'That was incredible,' Aaron Judge said Sunday after the Yankees stopped a six-game losing streak with a 6-4 win over the Mets. 'I've never seen something like that on the field. To come in, especially a guy like Soto, I've seen him hit so many line drives over outfielders heads when they come in too hard.' Soto's 105 mph liner against Mark Leiter Jr. had an expected batting average of .730. Bellinger was making his 31st start this season in left field and 68th career start there after playing first base for the first time this season on Saturday. 'It was a hard-hit ball,' Bellinger said. 'It's just trying to get the best read possible and I saw it in the air and had a really good bead on it. So, I was just glad I was able to make the play. So when I looked up, I saw Goldie with his glove high, so I tried to make a good throw.' Bellinger won a Gold Glove in 2019 as a right fielder with the Los Angeles Dodgers. 'To make that play was a game changing play, potentially a game-winning play for us,' Goldschmidt said. 'I felt I caught it,' Bellinger said. 'I feel like you can tell if it hits the ground first. I feel like I caught it from the jump.' Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said he was willing to challenge because he knew he would get another review in the final two innings. 'Pretty incredible play there,' Mendoza said. 'Probably the play of the game.' Bellinger's pivotal catch was the second of three double plays in consecutive innings by a Yankees' defense that had been shaky of late. 'Just what a play,' manager Aaron Boone said. 'Considering the context of this week and everything, that's probably the play of the year so far and to have the wherewithal and the quality of the throw to double them off, just a great play.' Hayden Senger grounded into a double play with the bases loaded in the sixth, and Judge followed with his catch. Goldschmidt turned an unassisted double play in the eighth, gloving Brett Baty's hard grounder, tagging Ronny Mauricio and stepping on first base. Judge hit his 33rd homer in the fifth and had a tumbling catch on Starling Marte flare to right that to end the sixth. Bellinger started in left field after rookie Jasson Domínguez experienced some shaky moments in the first two games. On Friday, Domínguez initially broke in on Brandon Nimmo's liner and the ball went over him for a leadoff double before Soto hit a two-run homer. On Saturday, Marte hit an RBI single that went over Domínguez. Domínguez has made 59 starts in first full season in left field after playing 13 games in left during the final month of last season. Jones hit a go-ahead, 445-foot, three-run homer in Sunday's 9-6 win over Lehigh Valley and is hitting .375 with four homers and eight RBIs in eight games with the RailRiders. ___
