Delhi temples hold prayers for Indian Army's safety, national unity
New Delhi, Temples in Delhi are organising prayers and "havan" ceremonies for the safety of the armed forces' personnel and the wellbeing of the country amid a military conflict between India and Pakistan.
Different types of prayer ceremonies, including "havan", recitation of holy texts and "aarti", are being held at the Chhatarpur temple, said a temple official.
He said the "Durga Saptashati" is being recited to seek blessings from Goddess Durga for protection, power and victory over negativity, and the "Hanuman Chalisa" or the "Sundarkand" is being chanted to draw strength and devotion from Lord Hanuman's example, especially in these times of crisis.
The "Vishnu Sahasranama", a revered hymn dedicated to Lord Vishnu, is being recited with prayers for national balance, collective well-being and divine safeguarding, he said.
Peace mantras, such as the "Shanti Path", which includes the universal prayers, are being offered with a focus on peace for the world and especially, for Bharat Mata, the official added.
Additionally, the Bhudevi "Stuti" is also part of the routine, expressing gratitude toward Mother Earth and praying for India's continued growth and prosperity, he said.
In addition to these rituals, a collective "havan" is being organised once a week, bringing together devotees in a shared spiritual effort to foster unity and strength, he said.
Each session concludes with the resonant chants of "Bharat Mata ki Jai" and "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam," affirming the spirit of national pride and universal brotherhood, he added.
"These efforts aim to build collective consciousness for peace, spiritual resilience and national harmony," the official said.
Ramavtar Singh, a priest at the Jagdamba temple in Rohini, said they are preparing for an evening prayer for India and everyone's safety.
"We are sitting in the comforts of our home but those who are living at the border and fighting for us, we must pray for their safety," Singh said.
He added that a prayer with evening "aarti" will be conducted on Friday.
An official of the Jagannath temple at Hauz Khas said police officials are installing checking machines outside the temple premises for the safety of devotees.

Lucknow: Almost 17 months after Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over the Ram Lalla consecration ceremony at the Ayodhya temple, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath led a Ram Darbar 'Pran Pratishtha' on the temple's first floor Thursday, a day that also marked his 53rd birthday. The construction of the temple's first floor has since been completed, and on Thursday, Adityanath took part in the Pran Pratishtha ceremony for the idols there. While the ground floor was opened to the public after the consecration ceremony, sources said the Ram Darbar on the first floor will not open just yet so the construction on other parts of the temple goes on smoothly. The sources said the Ram Darbar is likely to open to the public around Diwali this year. Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust General Secretary Champat Rai has said the temple's construction is expected to be completed next year. While the ground-floor sanctum sanctorum houses an idol of the child form of Lord Ram, the Ram Darbar on the first floor features exquisitely sculpted idols of Raja Ram (King Ram) and Goddess Sita seated on a throne. The idols of Lord Ram's brothers—Bharat, Lakshman, and Shatrughna—as well as his devotee Hanuman, complete the Darbar. The chief minister also visited several other newly constructed temples within the main complex and took part in consecration ceremonies there. Behind-the-scenes story of the project More temples and idols Apart from the Ram Darbar, the chief minister participated in the Pran Pratishtha of six additional temples within the Ram Janmabhoomi temple complex. Temple trust functionaries said that based on Vastu Shastra, Lord Shiva's temple has been built in the northeast (Ishan) corner of the complex, Lord Ganesha's temple in the southeast (Agni) corner, Lord Hanuman's temple midway along the southern side, Lord Surya's temple in the southwest (Nairitya) corner, Goddess Bhagwati's temple in the northwest (Vayavya) corner, and Goddess Annapurna's temple in the middle of the northern side. The idols consecrated in the temple are made of pristine white marble. The chief minister also proposed developing theme-based gardens in Ayodhya dedicated to revered figures such as Maa Janaki, Lakshman, Bharat, Shatrughna, Hanuman, Sugriva, Jambavan, Mata Shabari, and Nishad Raj. Later, speaking at a public event in Ram Katha Park, Adityanath said Ayodhya's reputation has now been established as a global symbol of 'Atithi Devo Bhava' — a city that treats its guests as gods. Speaking on Ayodhya's transformation, Adityanath said the city, once plagued by erratic power supply, water shortages, and cleanliness issues, has now emerged as a clean and beautiful spiritual destination. He also spoke about the greatly increased tourist inflow since the temple's consecration last year. 'Earlier, the number of devotees barely reached a few lakhs, but Ayodhya welcomed more than 16 crore pilgrims last year alone — a testament to the Municipal Corporation's improved management and facilities.' He described Prime Minister Modi as the 'Bhagirath of modern India,' crediting him with the success of the Namami Gange campaign. 'Before 2014, the Ganga was severely polluted due to the unplanned and unscientific activities of previous governments. But through the Namami Gange programme, the river has regained its purity and uninterrupted flow. Over 66 crore devotees witnessed this during the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj,' he said. Pran Pratishtha of Ram Darbar performed at Ayodhya temple
The second Pran Pratishtha at Ayodha's Ram Temple, in which a statue of Lord Ram in the form of a king at Ram Darbar was consecrated, concluded on Thursday in a simple ceremony. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was present on the occasion. Nearly a year and a half ago, the Pran Pratishtha of the Ram Lalla idol was done in a grand ceremony at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, which was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and hundreds of VIPs. The 15-minute final consecration rituals started at 11:25 am on Thursday with the chanting of mantras by acharyas from different parts of the country, including Kashi, Ayodhya, Basti, Delhi, Kolkata, Devprayag, Haridwar, Jammu among others. The main acharya leading the rituals was Jai Prakash Tripathi from Kashi, and next to him was Acharya Chandra Bhanu Sharma from Delhi. Ram Temple Trust member Anil Mishra and his wife were the main 'yajman' at the event. Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra president Nritya Gopal Das, Swami Awadheshanand Giri as well as Trust secretary Champat Rai were also present. The rituals were held on the first floor of the Ram Temple where the Ram Darbar has been established as darshan of the Balak Ram continued as regular on the ground floor. While the consecration of idols of Ram, Sita, Bharat, Laxman, Shatrughan and Hanuman at the Ram Darbar along with that of idols of Surya, Hanuman, Maa Annapurna, Shiva, Goddess Durga at six other temples on the temple premise has been completed, the pilgrims will have to wait for some more time before these temples and the Ram Darbar is open for public. Officials of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust said the decision to delay the darshan was taken because of space constraints. 'The Ram Darbar and the new temples will be opened to the public only after a set mechanism for entry, exit, timing, and number of pilgrims is properly worked out. A meeting of the Trust is likely to take place in the next few days to discuss these plans with the experts. Till then, pilgrims will be allowed entry only on the ground floor of the main temple,' said an official of the Trust. Officials said that at present, about 60,000 to 70,000 pilgrims are visiting the Ram Temple on average daily, with some increase on weekends or some special auspicious days. However, unlike the Garbha Griha on the ground floor, there is a space constraint on the first floor. Just in front of the entrance of the Garbha Griha Mandapam, there are staircases on either side going to the first floor. Officials said that while all the pilgrims cannot be allowed entry to the first floor, a mechanism is being worked out, where an online pass system is made available for the public. Unlike last year, the town was rather quiet this time around, with the focus mainly on the religious rituals. Activities in the rest of the town progressed as usual, except for a few traffic restrictions in place. Since there was no major influx of VIPs, unlike the previous year, traffic restrictions were also kept to a minimum till Thursday.
