MCMC Goes After TikTok User Who Posted Insensitive Content On PM
According to MCMC, the posts were believed to be reactions to the Prime Minister's statements on immoral parties held in the country and recent incentive announcements for the rakyat. The same individual is also suspected of uploading another post containing extreme and baseless claims regarding the Prime Minister's official overseas trip.
MCMC recorded the individual's statement at its headquarters in Cyberjaya on Monday, July 21 2025, and confiscated a mobile phone and SIM card as part of the investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, which carries a maximum fine of RM500,000 or up to two years' imprisonment, or both, upon conviction.
MCMC reiterated its commitment to taking firm action against the misuse of social media platforms to spread extremely offensive content or unfounded accusations, to preserve public order and national harmony. Related

RM200 per passport: Border officers arrested over 'flying passport' racket
JOHOR BAHRU: Four enforcement officers have been arrested on suspicion of accepting a bribe of RM3,000 while on duty at the motorcycle entry zone checkpoint along the Johor-Singapore border. According to a source from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), the four male suspects, aged between their 20s and 40s, were detained today at the Johor MACC office. "Two main suspects were initially apprehended by the Compliance Unit of the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (MCBA) during an inspection at the counter yesterday. They were subsequently handed over to the MACC. "Following their arrest, two more enforcement officers were detained on suspicion of being complicit in the 'flying passport' activity," the source said. Earlier today, MCBA confirmed the arrest of two enforcement officers on duty at the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex at Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) last night in connection with the same scheme. MCBA CIQ BSI Commander Roszita Dim said the two male suspects, aged 31 and 49, were detained during a covert monitoring operation conducted by the agency's Compliance Unit starting at 3pm that day. The operation targeted officers stationed at the CIQ complex after suspicious activity was detected around 7.30pm at the vehicle zone checkpoint. Investigations revealed several questionable entries in the visitor log, using the login credentials of one officer at the counter, including records involving foreign nationals previously identified as problematic visitors. The MACC source added that during the arrest, 14 foreign passports, four mobile phones belonging to the main suspects, and approximately RM2,800 in cash were recovered. "Initial investigations suggest that the cash and mobile phones are linked to bribery transactions involving the 'flying passport' scheme. "For each passport stamped without the physical presence of the owner, the suspects allegedly received around RM200," the source said. Meanwhile, Johor MACC deputy director of operations Hairul Ilham Hamzah confirmed the arrests when contacted. He said the case is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009. "All suspects will be brought before the Johor Bahru Court for a remand application," he added.

The Umno-led BN played a crucial role in enabling Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to form the unity government in the wake of the 2022 general election, which resulted in a hung Parliament. PH had won 81 parliamentary seats while BN won 30, in what was the latter's worst electoral performance to date.

(Bernama pic) PETALING JAYA : Umno will look into allegations that some party members took part in the Turun Anwar rally in Kuala Lumpur today, says Supreme Council member Ahmad Maslan. He said the party would wait for a full report before taking action. 'I will need to review these allegations, and the Umno headquarters will look into it and decide on them,' Sinar Harian reported him as saying at the Bagan Serai delegates' meeting in Perak today. Ahmad, who is deputy works minister, said the government led by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim remains stable with a sizeable majority in Parliament. 'People may question us if our support goes as low as 113 seats. But we have 153. Even if 10 people go, we still have 143. So why do we need to take down the prime minister? He has strong support and the economy is developing well,' he said. (A total of 112 seats is enough for a simple majority in the 222-member Dewan Rakyat). Ahmad said the rally today had tarnished Malaysia's international image, making it seem as if the country is in turmoil. The Turun Anwar rally was attended by about 18,000 people, according to a police estimate, while the rally organisers, PAS Youth, claimed there were over 200,000 participants.
