Morgan Wallen's ‘Sand In My Boots' music festival: crime drops, travel breaks records
BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — Crime numbers dropped significantly while one local airport saw a record day of travel following the 'Sand In My Boots' music festival, has learned.

The Pensacola International Airport reportedly saw its busiest travel day — ever — on Monday after the music festival's conclusion.
PNS saw a record-breaking number of 15,400 passengers, according to a Pensacola International Airport Facebook post, and the TSA average wait time was only about 13.11 minutes.
Meanwhile, crime numbers were down at this year's festival compared to The Hangout Fest in 2023 and 2024.
According to the Gulf Shores Police Department, there were a total of 37 arrests — 20 felonies and 17 misdemeanors — throughout the festival. In comparison, there were 94 arrests in 2024 and 107 in 2023.
GSPD officials said the crowd was very well-behaved.

About 100,000 people were at this year's event compared to 2024, when about 80,000 people attended.

Suspicious bag prompts evacuation at Lafayette Regional Airport
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — Earlier today, a bag that passed through the TSA checkpoint scanning equipment at the Lafayette Regional Airport prompted an evacuation. Authorities suspected the bag contained a suspicious device. Airport executive director Steven Picou informed KLFY 10 the Lafayette parish sheriff's office was the initial law enforcement response to the incident. 'The protocol is that we start evaluating what we think we may have, then we start backing people up from that area,' Picou noted. Picou explained upon inspection of the bag it was determined the contents of the checked bag posed no danger. 'Fortunately at the end of the day it was just auto parts, some were found inside of the bag,' Picou added. The airport was reopened to the public around 12:00pm the same day. Florida man convicted of posing as flight attendant to score more than 100 free flights
A federal jury has convicted a 35-year-old South Florida man who fraudulently booked more than 120 free airline flights by posing as a flight attendant, the U.S. Department of Justice announced Tuesday. Tiron Alexander was found guilty on June 5 of wire fraud and unlawfully entering a secure airport area under false pretenses. Prosecutors said Alexander exploited a program intended for airline staff, using it to board 34 flights without paying between 2018 and 2024. According to evidence presented at trial, Alexander submitted false information through an airline carrier's employee flight booking system. He falsely claimed to be a flight attendant with seven different airlines, providing roughly 30 fake badge numbers and hire dates. Authorities said he successfully used the system to travel dozens of times at no cost. Jurors also learned that Alexander impersonated a flight attendant on three other airline carriers, further expanding the scope of the scheme. Alexander is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 25 and faces up to 30 years in federal prison. The case was investigated by the TSA Atlanta Field Office. U.S. Attorney Hayden P. O'Byrne and Supervisory Air Marshal in Charge Antonio L. Pittman announced the conviction. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Michael C. Shepherd, Zachary A. Keller, and Andres E. Chinchilla are handling the prosecution.

Lafayette Regional Airport lockdown lifted, no explosives found
UPDATE, 6/10/2025, noon: The Lafayette Regional Airport has reopened to the public. State police have confirmed there were no explosives devices or hand grenades found in the investigation. 'At 11:38 a.m. routine operations resumed at LFT. An investigation by law enforcement determined that a package detected in the TSA scanning area was not hazardous and presented no threat to LFT passengers or operations staff,' Executive Director Steven Picou said.
