World champion Littler has FIVE nightly wins in the competition and will now look to set an overall league points record, currently 40.
Despite the hype and endless comparisons to 87-time major winner Taylor – darts' most dominant figure – former world No1 Lloyd believes Littler is forging his own legacy.
He told talkSPORT: 'I don't want to use the words 'Taylor-esque' because Taylor was the same.
'Different era, different players with two completely different people.

Luke Littler has Luke Humphries backing as English stars target glory in Germany
The two rivals will join forces in the 15th edition of the PDC event, which gets under way in Frankfurt on Thursday. Littler had previously claimed in April he would skip tournaments in Germany after being booed in Munich and Berlin that month, having faced similar treatment in September following defeat by Peter Wright in the German Championship final in Hildesheim. Defending champions England have been unveiled as the 4/11 pre-tournament favourites for the @BetVictor World Cup of Darts ahead of the annual 40-nation event. — PDC Darts (@OfficialPDC) June 4, 2025 But Premier League champion Humphries, who clinched World Cup success with Michael Smith last June, said: 'It's just about not getting involved in the crowd isn't it? 'We've just got to make sure that if they're on his back, I'll be there to say, 'don't worry about what they're doing, focus on your game' and if we play against Germany that's going to be hard but I think he'll learn from the occasions of playing against crowds that are hostile. 'I've been there, I've had it a little bit before and you just have to focus on the game and not worry about what is going on behind you.' Even though Littler has struggled with German crowds, Humphries plans to send the 18-year-old out to throw first when they begin their campaign in the second round on Saturday. 'I will probably put him first,' Humphries revealed. 'He is definitely the best scorer in the world. That's not a lie, it's obvious. So, you're going to put your strengths forward. You put him first, he is probably better at going for the bullseye than I am, getting the throws. A post shared by Luke TheNuke Littler (@lukethenukelittler) 'Yeah, only if he's comfortable with it. If not, I'll go first but I played the anchor role last year. 'I felt really good going second, so maybe that is my role for this year as well.' Victory for Humphries and Smith at Eissporthalle last summer was England's first World Cup win since 2016. It ensured Humphries enjoyed a triumphant World Cup debut and he is sure Littler will experience the same. Humphries added: 'As you saw when we won, the emotion that comes out of you, you don't expect it but it does because you're just so buzzing. 'It's really special and he will understand. He may even feel a little bit nervous at the start, or for the first game we play because all eyes are on us, everyone will be expecting us to be powerful every game we play. 'But I did say to him, it doesn't matter how we play as long as we win the trophy, that's what really matters. It will be a special feeling for him, as it was for me.'

Man City sign Cherki from Lyon on five-year contract
June 10 (Reuters) - Manchester City have signed attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki from Olympique Lyonnais on a five-year contract ahead of this month's Club World Cup, the Premier League club said on Tuesday. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed but British media reported that City paid around 40 million euros ($45.70 million) for the 21-year-old Frenchman. Cherki had his best season for Lyon in 2024-25, scoring 12 goals and providing 20 assists in all competitions. "This is a dream for me. Honestly, to be joining a club like Manchester City and have the opportunity to make the next step in my career here is something very, very special," Cherki said in a statement. "I have worked so hard for this all my life. I love this sport and I can't wait to develop further here in Manchester with Pep (Guardiola) and his backroom staff. "I would only leave Lyon for a project I really believe in and everything at City suggests I can develop my game and help the team be successful in the future. I can't wait to show City fans what I can do." The recently capped France international, who can play as an attacking midfielder and right winger, scored in both legs of his team's Europa League quarter-final 7-6 aggregate loss to Manchester United. City will kick off their Club World Cup campaign on June 18 against Moroccan side Wydad AC, followed by matches against Emirati club Al-Ain and Juventus. ($1 = 0.8754 euros)

Why is Crystal Palace in Europa League a problem now?
There have been many instances of Premier League clubs - Brighton, Manchester City and Manchester United over the past two summers - being affected by this multi-club issue but not being booted out of Uefa competition, so why is it a particular problem for Crystal Palace? The major issue is it has not been dealt with before a deadline. Significantly, that was brought forward to 1 March this year from the end of the season because Uefa simply did not have the time and space to deal with all the potential cases before the respective early qualifying draws next week (clubs all over Europe are affected - not just in England). So, instead of knowing what the situation was, clubs had to second guess early in the season. It was fairly obvious Nottingham Forest had a good chance of making European football by that point, so they took preventative will never know what they would have done if they had been in Palace's position towards the end of February - about to play Millwall in the fifth round of a competition they had never previously won, knowing both Manchester clubs, Newcastle, Forest and Aston Villa were still in now Palace are pointing out John Textor has a significant stake in the club but has no input into how it problem for them is the rule is there. Uefa has to make a judgement on a particularly tricky issue knowing if the outcome does not suit any party, they can go to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) with an has already upheld a Fifa decision to kick Mexican club Leon out of the Club World Cup for transgressing stated multi-club ownership regulations.
