IIT Bombay Launches GenAI Course For Business For Women, Details Here
IIT Bombay has launched a women-focused GenAI course from September 11 to 13, offering hands-on training with tools like ChatGPT and DALLE.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay on Monday announced a new beginner-level course in generative AI, exclusively designed for women professionals, entrepreneurs, and managers. The programme, titled 'GenAI for Business: A Hands-On Introduction", is being offered by the institute's Desai Sethi School of Entrepreneurship (DSSE).
Scheduled to run online from September 11 to 13, the certificate course aims to equip women participants with practical skills in the rapidly evolving field of generative AI. Registrations will remain open until September 9, IIT Bombay confirmed in its statement.
According to the institute, the course will provide a collaborative learning environment where women can experiment with leading AI tools. Over three days, participants will get hands-on experience with platforms such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Co-Pilot, DALLE, Perplexity, Flux1, Grok, and Notebook LM through live demonstrations, exercises, and real-world examples.
Meanwhile, generative AI tools are already becoming a popular resource among IIT Bombay students. The institute's Senior Survey 2025, conducted by Insight—its official student media body—revealed that ChatGPT is now the second most popular tool for learning new skills, after platforms like Coursera.
The survey, which received 282 responses, found that 118 students preferred online platforms for upskilling, followed by 65 who used ChatGPT. In contrast, only nine students relied on library books, highlighting the shift from traditional resources.
However, the study also indicated that AI remains underused in certain areas. Out of 138 students who said they had not used ChatGPT for specific tasks, 89 pointed to resume-making, while 46 said they avoided using it for assignments and projects.
