Surpassing market expectations and demonstrating resilience and operational strength in a volatile market, ADNOC L&S' Q2 revenue increased by 40 per cent year-on-year (YoY) to US$1,258 million, with EBITDA growing 31 per cent YoY to US$400 million. Net profit for the quarter grew 14 per cent to US$236 million. In H1 2025, the company's revenue was US$2,439 million, a 40 per cent YoY increase again. Net profit was US$420 million, up 5 per cent YoY, and up 18 per cent compared to H2 2024. With strong performance in its core business segments and improving margins, ADNOC L&S has upgraded its full-year guidance, expecting faster growth due to continued momentum and enhanced operational efficiency across key areas. Captain Abdulkareem Al Masabi, CEO of ADNOC L&S, commented: 'We are proud to report our highest-ever quarterly results, underscoring the strength of our growth strategy and our ability to capitalise on diversified opportunities across our Integrated Logistics, Shipping and Services segments. 'This record-breaking performance reflects ADNOC L&S's continued outperformance of market expectations, driven by robust cash flows, strategic partnerships, and operational excellence. 'In line with this momentum, our upgraded full-year guidance demonstrates our confidence in delivering long-term value to shareholders.' It has increased the revenue guidance to 'High 20 per cents YoY growth' from its previous 'Mid to high 20 per cents YoY growth'. EBITDA guidance has been increased to 'Mid 20 per cents YoY growth' from 'High teens YoY growth'. Growth Investments remain on track, with capital expenditure guidance unchanged. The company added that it retains the financial capacity to fund an additional US$3 billion beyond announced projects within 2.5x net debt/EBITDA by 2030. 'Fireball' Perseids meteor shower to peak tonight in UAE skies
Stargazers in the UAE will be able to spot the Perseids meteor shower tonight and into the early hours of Wednesday, as the celestial event reaches its peak. The showers, however, may be fainter than usual this year because of a full moon that could reduce visibility of the meteors. They might have been slightly more visible on the night of July 24 when the showers first started, with moonless conditions. Khadijah Ahmed, operations manager at Dubai Astronomy Group, said the Perseids meteor shower takes place when Earth passes through the densest part of the debris trail left by Comet Swift-Tuttle. 'Unfortunately, there is a full moon just before the Perseid peak in August, meaning bright moonlight will wash out many meteors during the peak nights, but that's when you typically get 60 to 100 meteors per hour under moonless conditions.' The Perseids are one of the most anticipated meteor showers of the year, which produces bright streaks of light as the particles burn up in the atmosphere, with the most intense activity typically on August 12 and 13. The Dubai Astronomy Group will host a stargazing event on August 12 in Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah for the public, with tickets priced at Dh200 ($54) per adult. 'We'll focus more on stargazing, observing all the visible objects in the sky with a sideshow of the meteor,' said Ms Ahmed. 'As the meteor shower will continue till late August, we might host another event depending on the weather to observe the meteors on moonless nights.' Mohamed Usama Ismail, lead of optical astronomy and tours at Al Sadeem Astronomy in Abu Dhabi, said viewing the Perseids comes down to 'timing and luck'. He said visibility can vary from year to year. 'Last year, it was a bit strange,' he said. "People came to observe the Perseids on August 12 and 13 but didn't see much. I wasn't sure why. Then, on August 14, a group visited and saw no fewer than 50 meteors, so it's all about luck.' There have been reports in recent years that the Perseids' intensity is declining and that the shower may not produce as many meteors as it once did. Astronomers believe the showers are weaker now because thicker parts of the comet's debris, which caused intense displays of meteors in the 1990s, have slowly spread out over time, causing fewer visible meteors today. Al Sadeem Astronomy is not hosting a specific event for public viewing of the meteor shower, but tours of its observatory are available regularly. After the showers, the next celestial event set to take place in the UAE will be a total lunar eclipse, appearing in the skies on September 7. The Moon will pass through Earth's shadow, turning a deep reddish colour. 'This is one of the rare astronomical events happening in the UAE in 2025,' said Ms Ahmed. 'We will host an event for the eclipse and encourage everyone to witness it. You don't need any special equipment – just go outside and look up." The first supermoon of the year, the Hunter's Supermoon, will appear on October 7, followed by the Beaver on November 5 and the Cold Supermoon on December 4. There are more meteor showers after the Perseids, including the Orionids' peak on October 21 and 22, followed by the Leonids, peaking on November 17 and 18. The best meteor shower and often the most visible, the Geminids, will peak on December 13 and 14. Perseids meteor showers - in pictures

Promising Companies Market regulatory framework to boost Oman's capital market and funding access
Ahmed bin Ali Al Maamari, Executive Vice President of the Financial Services Authority (FSA), affirmed that the issuance of the Promising Companies Market regulation advances the incentive programme to develop the capital market in the Sultanate of Oman. The programme, endorsed by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, may Allah protect and preserve him, aligns with Oman Vision 2040 goals to enhance economic diversification and the investment environment. In an official statement, he highlighted that the regulation provides a flexible framework enabling private, family-owned, emerging, and small and medium enterprises to access alternative financing tools in a transparent, adaptable investment environment. This, he noted, helps create diverse funding opportunities in the local market to meet companies' growth and expansion needs. He explained that the incentive programme includes three main tracks, one of which is establishing the Promising Companies Market as a sub-market within the Muscat Stock Exchange. Its alignment with the regulation, he added, offers more flexible financing options and supports companies in achieving higher levels of institutional maturity and sustainable growth. The regulation, he said, sets out clear listing mechanisms and simplified initial requirements, such as achieving specified annual growth rates, meeting a minimum number of shareholders, and paying fixed, published fees. These measures reduce market entry barriers and improve corporate transformation efficiency. The Executive Vice President invited all eligible private sector companies to explore the financing and listing options offered by the Promising Companies Market. Haitham bin Salem Al Salmi, CEO of Muscat Stock Exchange (MSX), said the creation of the Promising Companies Market represents a key structural development in Oman's capital market system. It will provide a specialised financing channel for emerging, small and medium enterprises, as well as family-owned and private companies, under phased regulatory requirements that enable a smooth transition to the main market. Al Salmi added that the MSX, as the market operator, will offer a fully integrated trading environment supported by advanced technology, flexible disclosure models tailored to growth-stage companies, and governance standards aligned with their nature, which he said would strengthen qualified investor confidence and stimulate market liquidity. He affirmed that the initiative aligns with MSX's strategy to broaden the investor base and diversify investment tools and products, enabling companies to access capital efficiently while enhancing corporate maturity, thereby boosting the competitiveness of the national economy, supporting Oman Vision 2040 goals for private sector development and attracting quality investments. © Muscat Media Group Provided by SyndiGate Media Inc.
