Yograj Singh Blasts Rohit Sharma's Critics: 'Aapki Hume 5 Saal Aur Zarurat...'

Last Updated: Ex-cricketer Yograj Singh urged Rohit Sharma to play for five more years and slammed critics questioning his fitness. Former India cricketer Yograj Singh has urged Rohit Sharma to play international cricket for five more years because the country needs him. Yograj also slammed the India ODI skipper's critics, saying those speaking about his fitness haven't played cricket, but in the same breath, advised the BCCI to consider helping Rohit stay fit by all means, even if it was putting 'four men on him' and making him run 10 kilometres daily. Yograj was referring to Rohit's Player of the Match 76 (83) in the 2025 Champions Trophy final. He said the knock showed why the Mumbaikar could play till he was 45 years old. It's a big nod of approval for the right-hander among questions on his future with the Men in Blue. He has already retired from Tests and T20Is, and there are murmurs of the BCCI looking to phase him and Virat Kohli out soon. 'I believe you should play domestic cricket; the more you play that, the fitter you'll be. Who got the Man of the Match in the final? Rohit Sharma. So you should only talk about things that you know. If you want to talk about his game and fitness, do that only if you have played at some level. Do you feel ashamed for talking like this?" he added. Rohit's next international assignment would be a three-ODI tour of Australia in November. It could be a key time to determine how BCCI were thinking about his role in the team, and if they believed he was the right man to lead the team to the 2027 World Cup in Africa. Irfan Pathan Makes Stunning Claim About Hat-trick Against Pakistan: "Don't Talk About..."

Irfan Pathan scripted history by taking a hat-trick in the first over of the Test match against Pakistan back in 2006 in Karachi. It was a feat that grabbed all the headlines and his brilliant achievement is still talked about among cricket fans. However, the former Indian cricket team all-rounder revealed that it is not one of the favourite memories from his playing career. Pathan believes that fans are excited by the feat as he dismissed Salman Butt, Younis Khan, and Mohammad Yusuf with a stunning display of swing bowling. However, he believes that his fondest memories are from matches where India emerged victorious. "That hat-trick against Pakistan is not among my favourite memories. I don't talk about it much. I talk about the T20 World Cup final happily. In 2004, at the age of 19, I took three wickets in the series decider in Pakistan. I talk about that match happily. I went to Australia and won the 'Player of the Match' in the Perth Test. I talk about that match happily too. This is because we won that match," said Pathan in the 'Guest in the Newsroom' show as per "It is more fun to talk about one's own contribution when we have won that match. We did not win the match in which he took the hat-trick. I think people like that. They send me videos of this hat-trick. There were more than 20 thousand runs in those three wickets. The way the ball swung there is very pleasing to the eyes of the fans. That is why fans like that spell," Pathan added. Following India's brilliant series draw against England, former all-rounder Irfan Pathan was slightly critical of pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah 's performance in the series, saying that the world number one Test bowler did not live up to the expectations as he played in three matches, and India did not win any of them. Bumrah could only play just three Tests of the 5-match series due to workload management. He was coming into the series after taking 18 wickets in the Indian Premier League (IPL) season with Mumbai Indians (MI). After sustaining a stress fracture in his back during a record-breaking 32 wicket Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Bumrah used the IPL as a tool to prepare himself for international cricket after an injury layoff. During the India-England Test series, he emerged as India's second-highest wicket-taker and overall joint-fourth-highest, with 14 scalps at an average of 26.00 and best figures of 5/74. He took two five-wicket hauls in the series. A surprising aspect was his lack of success with the new ball.

"Before A Match, I Would Automatically...": Pragyan Ojha Shares Cricketing Superstition

Former Indian spinner Pragyan Ojha shared his long-standing superstition. He mentioned that he always called his family before a match, but a missed call due to poor network in Sri Lanka led to him becoming Muttiah Muralitharan's 800th wicket. Ojha last played an international game in 2013, which was also the retirement match for Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar at the Wankhede Stadium. In the game, he managed to take ten wickets and was awarded the Player of the Match. Speaking on 'Cheeky Singles', Pragyan Ojha said, "Whenever I used to get in the team bus before a match, I would automatically call my mom, then my dad. Even if both of them were sitting together, I'd call them separately. Then I'd call my uncle, who was a cricketer and the one who inspired me to take up the game. Even if I had called my uncle 10 minutes before the match, he would have picked up. But in Sri Lanka, at that time, there was no network, and the call didn't go through. Because of that, I became Muttiah Muralitharan's 800th wicket." The 33-year-old Ojha had made his international debut in 2008 against Bangladesh in Karachi. A year later, he went on to make his Test debut against Sri Lanka . The spinner went on to play 24 Tests, 18 ODIs and six T20Is for India and finished with a total of 144 wickets in the international game. In the longest format of the game, he managed to take 113 wickets, with the best bowling figures of 6-47. He was last seen in action in 2018 as he played a first-class match in Dehradun. He also made a name for himself in the Indian Premier League as he played for the Deccan Chargers and Mumbai Indians. He was a key member of the Deccan Chargers IPL-winning team in 2009. He last played a match in the premier tournament in 2015 for the Mumbai Indians.
