The weather over Kolkata has been clear since Sunday morning. There is a possibility of light rain over the city and its adjoining areas later in the day and on Monday. However, heavy rain is expected to continue in the North Bengal districts.
"The weather over Kolkata has cleared, and there is little possibility of rain till Monday. There is a rise in the discomfort level due to high humidity. Despite the maximum temperature remaining within range, discomfort will be felt throughout the day. A low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is likely to turn into a depression later this week, and there is a possibility that on Wednesday it will bring heavy rain over South Bengal," said a MeT department official.
Meanwhile, heavy rain is likely to occur at several places in the North Bengal district of Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, and Cooch Behar on Sunday. Light to moderate rain with thundershowers is likely in the remaining districts.

Indore: After more than 10 days of dry weather, the Meteorological Department has predicted the return of rainfall to the region from August 14, owing to the development of a low-pressure system over the northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal around August 13. The system is expected to revive monsoon activity, bringing much-needed relief from prevailing heat and humidity. In the last 24 hours from Saturday morning to Sunday morning, Indore reported only 0.1 mm of rainfall. During the dry spell, temperatures in Indore rose notably above normal. On Sunday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 31.1 degrees Celsius, three degrees above average, while the minimum temperature stood at 22.6 degrees Celsius, one degree above normal. "There was no significant change in minimum temperatures, but maximum temperatures rose markedly by 6-7 degrees Celsius in the past 24 hours over Delhi. Very light to light rain or thundershowers are likely during the next five days in the city," said a Met official. IMD has predicted that there is a possibility of very light to light rain on Monday and Tuesday, but the city may see a few spells of light to moderate showers on Wednesday and Thursday. The maximum temperature is expected to stay between 33 and 35 degrees Celsius. "On Wednesday, one or two spells of light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely, with a higher probability during evening or night hours.
