Kawasaki KLX 230 gets massive price cut, now priced at Rs 1.99 lakh

India Today3 days ago
India Kawasaki Motors has announced a sweeping price cut for its KLX 230 dual-sport motorcycle, now available at Rs 1.99 lakh (ex-showroom), down from Rs 3.30 lakh. The Rs 1.3 lakh reduction comes as the bike shifts from being a completely built-up (CBU) import to local manufacturing in India, making the off-road-oriented machine far more accessible to enthusiasts.
advertisementDesign and featuresThe KLX 230 is Kawasaki's first dual-sport street-legal motorcycle for India, carrying a rugged, minimalist design and trail-focused stance. Available in Lime Green and Battle Grey, it features a KX-inspired bodywork, slim fuel tank (7.5 litres), high-tensile steel perimeter frame, and a flat single-piece seat for easy rider movement.
Up front, a compact LED headlamp with a white-tinted beam offers strong illumination, paired with a minimalist all-digital LCD cluster that displays speed, odometer, dual trip meters, fuel gauge, and clock. Optional Bluetooth connectivity adds convenience for day-to-day riding.
Powertrain and performance
Power comes from a 233cc, air-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 2-valve, fuel-injected single-cylinder engine producing 19bhp at 8,000rpm and 19Nm at 6,000rpm, mated to a 6-speed return-shift gearbox. The engine is tuned for strong low- to mid-range torque, ideal for technical trails, with smooth and linear acceleration.
Electric start ensures quick ignition, while the simple air-cooled setup keeps weight low and maintenance easy, key for remote trail riding.Chassis and suspensionBuilt around a perimeter, high-tensile steel frame with a short wheelbase (1,370 mm) and a tall 880mm seat height, the KLX 230 offers 255mm of ground clearance, making it adept at clearing off-road obstacles.
The bike rides on large-diameter 21-inch front and 18-inch rear steel spoke wheels, shod with dual-purpose tyres for grip across varied terrain. Suspension duties are handled by a 37mm telescopic fork (220mm travel) at the front and Uni-Trak-linked monoshock (223mm travel) at the rear.
Braking and safetyBraking is via a 290mm front petal disc with dual-piston caliper and a 230mm rear petal disc with single-piston caliper. The bike comes with single-channel ABS, tuned for both on- and off-road conditions, with the option to disable ABS for the front wheel during trail riding.CompetitionAt just 139 kg kerb weight, the KLX 230 is significantly lighter than its main rival, the Hero Xpulse 210 (170kg), giving it an edge in agility and handling on trails.Subscribe to Auto Today Magazine- EndsMust Watch

DDA's land licensing model bags ₹10,000 cr deal with Fleur Hotels

The project is expected to generate approximately Rs 10,000 crore over a 55-year period Press Trust of India New Delhi The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has awarded the first project under its new Special License Property (SLP) initiative to Fleur Hotels, a subsidiary of Lemon Tree Hotels, officials said on Saturday. The project is expected to generate approximately Rs 10,000 crore over a 55-year period. "DDA had invited bids through a Request for Proposal (RFP) issued on May 2, 2025, for a 2-acre land parcel in Nehru Place earmarked for a five-star hotel. The bidding process, conducted on August 13, saw Fleur Hotels secure the project with an annual license fee offer of Rs 27.19 crore, about 50 per cent higher than the reserve price of Rs 18 crore," DDA said in a statement. This marks a major shift in DDA's land disposal policy. Moving away from the traditional freehold and perpetual lease models, the SLP initiative allows long-term development on an annual license basis. Reforms set into motion last year by Lt Governor VK Saxena, have yielded spectacular results in terms of revenue generation for the DDA even while facilitating the much needed developments in the capital, the statement added. According to officials, the Rs 10,000-crore revenue estimate includes annual fee escalations over the 55-year license term. "This new model is expected to significantly boost DDA's income, while facilitating key infrastructure development across hospitality, healthcare, logistics, and retail sectors," the statement added. The project awarded to Fleur Hotels will see the development of "Aurika" at Nehru Place, one of Delhi's largest luxury hotels with over 500 rooms. Lemon Tree Hotels, which operates more than 110 properties in over 75 cities, plans to bring its upscale brand experience to the Capital through this venture.
