The New York Mets are in as tough a position as a first-place team could be. Not only are starting pitchers Kodai Senga (hamstring) and Tylor Megill (elbow) on the 15-day IL, but they're starting rookie right-hander Blade Tidwell (0-1, 14.73 ERA) against the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday with the two squads tied atop the NL East.

Southpaw Sean Manaea (oblique) and right-hander Frankie Montas (lat) have been rehabbing injuries all season. Manaea went 12-6 with a 3.47 ERA over 32 starts for New York last year, while Montas went 7-11 with a 4.84 ERA over 30 starts for the Cincinnati Reds and Milwaukee Brewers.
However, New York made decisions regarding both of those players before Friday's game, via The New York Post's Mike Puma.

"Mets are planning on Frankie Montas getting his first start on Tuesday against [the] Atlanta [Braves]," he reported. "Tentatively planning on Sean Manaea for the Brewers series the first week of July."

Montas signed with New York in free agency this past offseason, but strained his right lat muscle in Spring Training.
The Mets are on a six-game losing streak after getting swept by the Tampa Bay Rays and Braves. They got outscored 12-1 over their last two contests and lost 9-0 to the Rays on Sunday.
After its series in Philadelphia, New York will return home to host the Braves before hitting the road again to play the Pittsburgh Pirates. Then, it will go home again to face the Brewers and the New York Yankees.
