The ‘stupid' thing Tommy Fleetwood knows he can't do after Travelers Championship meltdown
Tommy Fleetwood was devastated as he addressed reporters after his second-place finish at the Travelers Championship on Sunday, saying he was 'upset now' and 'I'm angry.'
Fleetwood appeared to be on his way to finally capturing a victory after 41 top-10 finishes with a two-shot lead heading into the final three holes of the final day of the tournament at TPC River Highlands.
But with his lead down to one shot on the final hole, he missed a six-foot putt and had to bogey on 18 and then watched as Keegan Bradley buried his putt for the win.

'I haven't been in this situation for a while,' Fleetwood said. 'I think when it sort of calms down — I'm upset now, I'm angry — when it calms down, look at the things that I did well, look at the things that I can learn from.
'I said yesterday I haven't been in this position all year, so it's been a while, felt like I did a lot of good things, but there was things that I definitely can do better, and I have to do better. So I did plenty of things well enough this week to win, I didn't do that, it hurts.'
Fleetwood tried to keep a level head about what transpired throughout the four-day tournament taking place in Cromwell, Connecticut, but how upset he was remained easy to see.

'When it calms down, the most stupid thing to do and the worse thing to do would be make a week like this a hindrance to what you do going forwards,' he said. 'I obviously played great, I put myself in a great position, I was leading the tournament for 71 holes. I just want to make sure that I can put myself in this position as soon as possible again and try and correct what I did this time.
'But like I say, right now I would love to, you know, just go and sulk somewhere and maybe I will do, but there's just no point making it a negative for the future really, just take the positives and move on.'

But Fleetwood narrowly missed, leaving him to bogey and hope that Bradley, who had reached the green in two, would miss his birdie putt. "I'm gutted right now," said Fleetwood. "I've not been in that situation for a long time. It's probably the worst way to finish. "Leading by two with three to play. Leading by one going into the last and you don't even make it to a play-off. It's the worst way it could go." From the brink of glory to despair Despite his three-shot overnight lead, the scars of past near-misses meant the pressure was still firmly on Fleetwood. And, well, it turns out that most players had absolutely no idea how to pop the corks. 'None of us knew how to do it," center Isaiah Hartenstein said, revealing that some players — yes, moments after winning the NBA title — were going onto YouTube in search of tutorials for how to make the bubbles fly. Enter Thunder guard Alex Caruso, who has already won an NBA title. The oldest player on the team, at 31, showed everyone how to get it done. And eventually, they got it right. 'We didn't do it all at the same time until, like, the third try," Caruso said. "I tried my best.' In time, they all figured it out. It was the last lesson of many this season for the Thunder, who finished with 84 wins — tying for the third-most in NBA history. And the team could have all of its key players back next season; they're all under contract.
