Projections for five Tennessee baseball players in 2025 MLB draft first round
The 2025 MLB draft will take place July 13-14 at Coca-Cola Roxy in Atlanta, Georgia.
Liam Doyle, Gavin Kilen, Andrew Fischer, Dean Curley, Marcus Phillips, AJ Russell, Tanner Franklin and Nate Snead are former Vols expected to be drafted in 2025.
Eight former Vols were selected in the 2024 MLB draft: Christian Moore (Angels), Blake Burke (Milwaukee), Billy Amick (Minnesota), Dylan Dreiling (Texas), Drew Beam (Kansas City), Kavares Tears (San Diego), A.J. Causey (Kansas City) and Aaron Combs (White Sox).
Joe Doyle of Future Stars Series released a mock draft for the first round. Below are 2025 MLB draft projections and excerpts for Tennessee players from Doyle.

'(Jamie) Arnold or Doyle here? Coin toss. Could it be (Ike) Irish instead? What about (Billy) Carlson? The Reds are a tough code to crack. In years past, they've gone for more physical starting pitchers with bigger stuff and better fastballs. For that reason, we'll stick Doyle in the 9-hole.'
Gavin Kilen
Team: Tampa Bay
Pick: No. 14
'Word on the street is Kilen is unlikely to get out of the top 15 picks in the Draft. Teams above this, like the Athletics and White Sox, shouldn't be discounted. The Rays have always seemed to prefer position players, and specifically position players with versatility and well-balanced tools. Kilen could move quickly and has the chops to play a number of positions.'

Athletics end 14-game road losing streak, beat Royals 6-4
KANSAS CITY — Austin Wynns and Luis Urías hit home runs, Luis Severino pitched 7 2/3 strong innings, and the Athletics beat Kansas City 6-4 on Friday night to end a 14-game road losing streak and hand the Royals their fourth straight loss. Severino (2-6) allowed six hits and a first-inning run on an RBI double by Salvador Perez. He surrendered 17 hits and 13 earned runs in his two previous starts, covering 11 1/3 innings. Wynns hit his fourth home run — a solo shot with two outs in the second off Royals starter Michael Wacha (3-6) — to tie it 1-1. Urías hit Wacha's second pitch in the fourth out to left for his seventh homer and a 3-1 lead. Nick Kurtz drove in the second run for the A's with a two-out single in the third.
