Etihad Airways expands access to 24 Greek islands via new codeshare deal with SKY express
Effective from July 14, the partnership builds on the existing interline cooperation between the two carriers and significantly expands Etihad's footprint in Greece.
Under the agreement, Etihad will place its flight code on SKY express-operated services beyond Athens, offering customers seamless connectivity to Greece's most iconic island getaways including:
Crete
Mykonos
Santorini
Rhodes
Kos
Corfu
Paros
Thessaloniki
Etihad boosts Greece network
The destinations are now accessible through a single booking with streamlined check-in and automatic baggage transfer.
The move strengthens the UAE carrier's daily service to Athens by positioning the Greek capital as a strategic hub for onward travel to the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean regions.

Bahrain to announce $17bln in US deals during Trump talks
Bahrain's crown prince is set to announce plans to invest more than $17 billion in the United States during a meeting with President Donald Trump on Wednesday, a White House official said. As part of the investment, Bahrain is expected to sign a deal between Gulf Air and Boeing/GE valued at around $7 billion for 12 aircraft with an option for six more, the official said. The deal also includes the sale of 40 GE engines, the official said. The announcement from Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa comes on the heels of foreign investment deals Trump made during a trip to the Middle East in May. During a visit to Riyadh, Trump secured a $600 billion commitment from Saudi Arabia to invest in the United States and agreed to sell the Saudis an arms package worth nearly $142 billion. The White House official said the Bahrain deal will support 30,000 American jobs and was secured with help from Trump and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. The crown prince will also commit to deploy additional capital in excess of billions of dollars. Bahrain is expected to be signing deals with Oracle and Cisco, with plans to replace Chinese servers with Cisco products, the official said. Bahrain also seeks to increase its investments in U.S. energy, tech and manufacturing sectors. The official said the crown prince intends to deploy capital to increase U.S. domestic aluminum production, invest in U.S. LNG production to secure BAH energy supplies and purchase cutting edge AI chips partnering with U.S. hyper-scalers. During the visit, the crown prince will announce the kingdom's intention to make these investments and sign various deals and memoranda of understanding. One of these MOUs creates a framework for Bahrain to begin discussions towards developing commercial nuclear capabilities, the official said. Later this year, the king of Bahrain will visit Washington to finalize these agreements and solidify the progress made in building our two nation's economic prosperity, the official said. Turkish Airlines, Airlink partner for Africa expansion
Turkish Airlines and South Africa-based Airlink have signed a codeshare agreement to strengthen the flag carrier of Türkiye's presence on the African continent. The agreement, which takes effect from 1 August 2025, was signed at a ceremony at Airlink's head office in Johannesburg, attended by senior executives from both airlines. The partnership will expand travel options by linking Turkish Airlines' global network with Airlink's extensive domestic and regional routes across South Africa and neighbouring countries. Passengers will be able to book seamless multi-sector journeys on a single ticket, with onward connections from Turkish Airlines flights arriving in Cape Town and Johannesburg. Under the agreement, Turkish Airlines will place its 'TK' flight code on Airlink-operated flights, offering greater flexibility and convenience for international and regional travellers. A boost for regional connectivity Commenting on the partnership, Levent Konukcu, Turkish Airlines' chief investment and strategy officer, says: "As Turkish Airlines, we give importance to this cooperation with Airlink to enhance our connectivity in South Africa and the region. "We aim to improve our partnership to maximise the travel opportunities offered to our guests. We believe that this partnership will not only bring benefits to both carriers from a commercial perspective but also improve the cultural and tourism relations between the two countries." UK lifts ban on Pakistani airlines after five years
Britain has lifted a ban on Pakistani airlines following improvements in the country's aviation safety standards, the UK's diplomatic mission in Islamabad said on Wednesday. The UK's Air Safety Committee imposed the ban after Pakistan's aviation minister disclosed in June 2020 that nearly one-third of the country's pilots had cheated in their licence exams. The claim came after a Pakistan International Airlines crash killed 97 people on May 22, 2020, in the southern city of Karachi. The disaster was attributed to human error by the pilots and air traffic control Wednesday's announcement follows a broader international recognition of Pakistan's efforts to improve air safety. Earlier this year, Pakistan International Airlines, the national flag carrier, resumed direct flights to Europe after the European Union Aviation Safety Agency lifted its four-year ban. The airline said it would resume services to Britain in 'the shortest possible time' and the first flights would operate from Islamabad to Manchester. British High Commissioner Jane Marriott said that after 'extensive engagement' between the UK's Air Safety Committee and the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority, restrictions on Pakistani airlines have been lifted. Ms Marriott said individual airlines will still need to apply for operating permits from the UK Civil Aviation Authority. 'I'm grateful to aviation experts in both the UK and Pakistan for their collaborative work to meet international safety standards,' she said. 'While it will take time for flights to resume, once the logistics are in place, I look forward to using a Pakistani carrier when visiting family and friends.' The high commission emphasised that decisions on removing countries or carriers from the UK Air Safety List are made through an independent safety process overseen by the Air Safety Committee. With more than 1.6 million people of Pakistani heritage living in the UK and thousands of British nationals living in Pakistan, the move will help families to reconnect and potentially boost bilateral trade ties, it said. Pakistan's Defence Minister Khawaja Asif welcomed the decision. Speaking at a televised news conference on Wednesday, he attributed the ban to 'baseless' remarks by former aviation minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan.
